Grinch my counter argument is everyone on this site loosing and maintaining their weight with what you say is something that will not work and is doomed to fail. And as far as loosing weight slowing your metabolism. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn so if you are exercising and toning and building muscle…

I am usually not ugly to anyone on this site and try to be very helpful. But if you believe these so called facts you are writing about then you are an idiot plain and simple and need to find another forum to post on. There is no place for that kind of negativity and just false information here. Directed at Grinch031

A lb a day can be healthy. Just because it is not typical does not mean it is not healthy. It all depends on the amount of activity vs. the amount of calories and nutrients consumed. A healthy diet and lots of exercise can result in 5 or more lbs a week in some cases.

If you feel like it go for it. I do 2 hours a day six days a week and have lost 32 lbs in 2 months. If I miss a day I feel like crap but I get up every morning at 5 to get my workout in.

I was shooting for 35 lbs but had a couple of bad days recently. Halloween is evil lol.

I go over my protein every day on purpose. MFP is way low on the protein budget. I personally have at least 140g of protein a day. It seems to be working, I am down 32 lbs in just shy of 2 months. Protein is slow to digest and keeps you full longer and keeps your metabolism firing for longer periods.

If you don't want to gain a lot of muscle I suggest using lower weights but doing higher reps. It's perfect for toning without bulking up.
-
Also for those interested in toning up I highly recommend doing a brief cardio warm up then your strength training. Save your major cardio workout for after lifting. Studies have shown a 19% increase in muscle growth when doing cardio after lifting.

I spend 2 hrs a day on mon, wed, fri. Then 1 hour a day on tues, thurs, sat. It is crucial to add some kind of strength training to your exercise. I did only cardio for the first 3 weeks and my weight loss stopped. Then I added my strength training and started shedding the weight. I am down 26 lbs in 40 days.

There is nothing wrong with going over on protein. In fact if you are exercising it is recommended that you have about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight daily. I never get that close but I do have about 120 to 130 grams of protein daily. Protein boosts metabolism and helps muscles recover after a good workout.…

Actually from what I have read you should eat about 1 gram of protein for every pound. I never eat that much but I eat at least 120 grams every day and it seem to be working for me.

Absolutely, protein is known to boost your metabolism. Not to mention the body fortress protein has branch chain amino acids that help your muscles recover after a good workout and help eliminate those sore muscles.
-
I use the body fortress protein powder from wal-mart. It is actually a pretty good mix. Great reviews on several fitness sites. You don't always have to fork out the money for the better stuff.

I actually use another site to enter my strength training and get a decent calorie count. Then I log it in here under cardio - strength training. I use fitclick.com to track it, it is another free site that is ok but I like the setup here much better but they do have free workout plans for those who need some direction.

I tried it a few times with the wife and I think I am actually going to give it a go for the full 30 days. It's a good routine.
-
I usually logged mine as circuit training under cardio. Not sure if it was correct or not but I did it anyway. lol

Already seeing it slow down some. I have adjusted my calorie intake a bit but I expect it to go much slower from now on. But I feel better than I have in years so and am becoming addicted to the gym. Lol Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

Couch to 5k (C25K) is an app available on most smart phones that helps you prepare to run a 5k during a 90 program. Running times gradually build from week to week. I am starting it again this weekend. I started and got halfway through week 1 and then came down with a mass infection and was put in hospital and laid up for…
