Hi! I'm using MFP on my Blackberry to track my progress.
I am 5'7" and weighed in at about 210 lbs in April of 2010--I knew I had to change. It's been an up and down journey so far, from exercising and eating healthily to crazy diets and a small purging problem.
This summer (2011) I started the Couch-to-5K. I actually started it before, way back when I started trying to lose weight. But I never got past the second week. But now, I have one more 30 minute run, and I'm done! After I "graduate" I'm starting the One Hour Runner program. I'm very excited, I've started to love running.
Since the running became a regular part of my life, eating healthily has as well. I haven't denied myself much, but I've been conscious of my serving sizes, and opting for healthier substitutions for things I'd normally get. I'm hoping to really get my nutrition under control using MFP.
Ever since I stopped trying to lose weight and started trying to gain fitness, I've seen dramatic improvements in myself both physically and mentally;and I keep reminding myself that physique is a consequence of fitness! MFP asks for a goal weight, and I put the highest weight at which the BMI of someone of my height would be considered "normal." It's not really a gauge for me now, although I do intend to check my weight on a regular schedule. Maybe weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
I'm not familiar with the community around here, but it would be nice to have peers to share motivation with.
Guess I'll see y'all around?

Couch to 5k (C25K) is an app available on most smart phones that helps you prepare to run a 5k during a 90 program. Running times gradually build from week to week. I am starting it again this weekend. I started and got halfway through week 1 and then came down with a mass infection and was put in hospital and laid up for a while so time to start from scratch.0
