  • Ok, that put's it into perspective for me. I work with people going to school and work full-time. It's a tough life for them. Once you graduate, employers really look for people with your kind of determination. Keep up the good work!
  • I wouldn't. I would also ask why do I need to sleep into the afternoon? Here's my story. By the end of the week, I use to look so forward to weekends to catch-up on my sleep. I didn't think this was normal and spoke to my physician. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have been using a CPAP machine for the last 10 years. I…
  • Yes! Used the the Wii after my knee surgery. Unable to get outside, and was recouping in the house. I was watching a lot of tv, and thought it was a silly waste of time until I decided to start playing with the Wii. Best results came from the yoga program. My motto soon became, "Yoga is not for wimps!". Good luck and have…
  • My wife and I rarely go out to eat, maybe once every two weeks. We think our food is better than most restuarants, especially fast food. Between the two of us, we cook breakfast and dinner everyday. We really enjoy our time in the kitchen together.
  • If you want to lose it and keep it off, don't be too aggressive. I have been successful with a goal of 1 lb per week. From past experience, anything faster and the pounds return very quickly. Good luck!
  • Not at all. It appears to fluctuate based on the caloric intact for that day. I ignore the little message.
  • Only fill your plate once, and don't pile it sky high the first time! Only one alcoholic beverage per night/party. Don't hang with people who binge on food.
  • Here are 2 sites to try. www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss-recipes/RE00126 Weight Loss Recipes and Tips | MyRecipes.com MyRecipes is my favorite. Stop buying snack food for your husband. It will only tempt you during the day.
  • Visit with a registered dietitian, your doctor should be able to recommend one. Once you know the basics, it's fairly easy to comprehend.
  • Too many dyes. I steer clear of these types of drinks.

  • Interesting. I'm not a competitor by a long shoot, but I can relate to how this relates to the average person's diet and dieting. Your body has an amazing way of knowing when you are doing something out of the ordinary, and will adjust to the changes to protect itself from serious damage to the vital organs.
  • Yes, that is boring, but training a schnauzer to compete in agility is pretty amazing!
  • Around 300 calories from the leftovers from the night before are my favorite breakfast foods. Love food with flavor. Eggs, cereal, or the typical morning menu is not for me. Pizza is my favorite, everything in moderation.
  • Hang in there, all of us have been there. Are you eating your exercise calories back into your daily diet? Eating back my exercise calories slowed my progress, worked for me but everyone is different.
  • Most people do not last on a diet of 1200 calories a day for very long. Often they end up gaining it, plus some. Both eating and dieting in moderation has always made sense to me. Slow and steady, slow and steady should be your mantra. Good eating is a lifestyle, always being on a diet to lose weight isn't a lifestyle,…
  • American culture, too much cheap available food, lack of exercise, sedentary jobs, stress and on and on. And still many people still want to come to the states. Look at pictures of Americans one generation ago. We know look huge to them. Take a look at Asians a generation ago, and you will see little difference.
  • Thanks. I'll look into the antioxidants.
  • Many of us with a few extra pounds have sleep issues. I strongly suggest a sleep study. I was able to lose weight once I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Now I use my CPAP and only require 7 hours of sleep a night, and no naps during the day. More energy, and I no longer need to worry about dying in my sleep. To answer your…
  • Hey, you're only 20! Worry about your alcohol intact next year!
  • Yes, for some of us cutting back on sugars and not grazing is a big deal. With me, when I cut back on my carbs, my blood sugar drops and I feel it during the day. I noticed taking a multi-vitamin and increasing protein helps, but that's just me. Everyone is a little bit different.
  • Yes, but only interested in how it affects my carb intact.
  • Great workout schedule. They only thing I would change, walk the dogs 7 times a week/once per day. They need the exercise too!

  • If Jim Fixx had taken the advice from this article, he would have been dead decades before his untimely death. His book, "The Complete Book of Running" is a classic, and a must read for serious runners.
  • I use to hate the treadmill, but it is part of living in Wisconsin and not being able to run outside without slipping and falling with injuries. Then I discovered an app for downloading books and listening with a headset. I also like to have the TV on, but the volume has to be turned up so loud the wife complains. To get…
  • I'm taking a scientific approach, and weighing in every morning immediately when I get up. I noticed a slight yo-yo effect, but nothing serious enough to cause depression. If I didn't weigh in everyday, I would not know how reducing my carbs, or decreasing my exercise on some days as an experiment was affecting my weight…
  • Yes, my dog Skip and I are a therapy dog team. We visit hospitals and nursing homes. I have worked with 2 different organizations training service dogs. There is a big difference between therapy and service dogs. What would like to know?
