  • Thank you :) this is kind of what i was worried about. i really dont WANT to count calories for him, as i kind of thought it was unnecessary, but heres another question -- when discussing nutrition with him, should i explain the difference between good fats/bad fats and stuff like that? i should, right? and natural sugars…
  • he eats really well (as much so as our budget allows) at home, i make 99.9% of all of our meals from scratch, and make healthy substitutions where allowable. However, its when hes NOT home that trips him up :/ he goes to visit his grandma during school breaks (spring, winter, etc) and she will let him eat 2 boxes of frozen…
  • Thanks every1. :) I am a made-from-scratch kind of mom when it comes to meals, and occasionally we will treat ourselves. I try to explain what foods are wonderful for you (fresh fruits, vegis) but i, myself, dont stress about eating organic, whole wheat, or clean by any means -- we eat what tastes good, fits in the budget,…
  • THANK U TO EVERYONE WHO ANSWERED!!! :D i appreciate all ur help! i definitely am gonna have to go back thru this thread multiple times to get all the info/sites! lol. i definitely learned a few new things here already. This is the first thread i have ever made, so i was a bit nervous about it. lol. please, as i said in…
  • i would love to hear how u do it! theres a billion posts and my mind is spiraling! lol. can u add me as a friend? thx!
  • indeed i do! i dont have the plus membership, or whatever its called tho. i have the basic membership at sams, as well as a costco membership. i use both on a regular basis!
  • yeah, i have been cooking from scratch A LOT lately! i really ought to check into this manager mark down bin!? where do i find it!? i typically shop at winco, sams club, walmart, or costco. lucky's if i HAVE to!
  • oh no! i dont buy the granola bars! lol. i make them myself. i used to buy them, but in the last couple weeks have bought ZERO processed items (other than dried fruits for the granola). i dont eat them myself either, i send them with my husband for lunch or give them to my kids for snacks. i know that these things are…
  • thanks! this is what i needed to hear :) I knew about the chicken thing, but never really put much importance on it. my husband LOVES (and INSISTS) on the dark meat for him to take on his sandwiches, and when we grill) i on the otherhand, only eat white, cant stand the dark. i should really do this. i think this will be…
  • allihexen: i get coupons thru my local sunday paper, but find that most the time, its overly processed stuff that doesnt fill me up, or its cheaper to just get what is at Winco. once the subscription for that is done, i doubt i will be renewing, since it doesnt save me as much as i'd like. neoterrar: thats a lot of what we…
  • yeah, ive heard of BBV, but never tried it. I have a friend that sells it, and I wanted to get some from her, but cant afford it :( And i dont know any1 else who wants to have it either, ive asked my friends and family. Ive tried shakeology as well, and LOVED it, but again, thats too expensive. :( my kitchen includes only…
  • Good luck!!! Just make sure u give it time! dont get discouraged/upset if u see a GAIN on the scale (which isnt the best way to determine success ne ways, measurements and progress pics are best!). at first ur body will have to readjust to the intake, so it might take a week or two to start seeing drop in numbers :)
  • definitely! and i know about 200 other women it is working for too! as i said in another post, i am a part of a group on facebook for women. VERY encouraging. one thing we are ALL big on is eating ENOUGH! :D
  • ok. sorry. :) according to freedieting.com, if u are not exercising AT ALL, u should eat about 1500/ day. If u exercise 3x per week, u should eat 1700 per day (yes, EVERY day). if u exercise 5x per week its 1800 per day. That is INCLUDING exercise calories. so every bite u take, should total the above amounts at the end of…
  • Is the calories you consume on a daily basis including your exercise calories? Do you eat them back? [/quote] This is TOTAL -- i dont go by MFPs calorie intake calculations, i use the freedieting.com ones. So i personally set my 'goal' on maintaining on MFP, and then just eat 1800-1900 (not net) back. does that make sense?…
  • toasterlisa -- i in NO way want to negatively critisize ur efforts, so please forgive me if i come across in any other way that helpful :) my dr wanted me to eat 1200 a day, and exercise as well, but not eat exercise cals back. i did so for a while, but found that i would binge and get discouraged VERY easily because i was…
  • yeah, doing this has helped me ALOT. i will notice that my weight drops rapidly after i eat a high calorie day (i usually have a 'free day' once every other week or so, then it will level out till the next time i do it. my low days are about 1700, my regular is 1800-1900 and my high days are whatever they are! lol. I am…
  • how often r u working out? i have a bodymedia that tells me how many cals i burn each day, so i know what to consume, but before i got it, i used the calorie calculator on freedieting.com -- use the harris benedict method. VERY accurate! i would normally eat any where in the range of 'extreme fat loss' and 'fat loss' :)…
  • I was 18 when I got married and was engaged for 1 year, so i was 17 when i got engaged. we have been married for a total of 6 years and together 8. :)
  • I make homemade alfredo sauce with fat free evaporated milk, corn starch, fresh parm and fresh romano, parsley, nutmeg, & black pepper. its really easy: 1 1/2 cup evap milk 1 T corn starch 1 clove garlic, crushed 3/4 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese 3/4 c freshly grated romano cheese 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or 1 T…
  • Hey there! Im in! I started with 95 lbs to lose, and have currently lost 11. :) I just finished up INSANITY on Sunday, and started P90X on Monday. :) How r u likin the 10 minute trainer!? I have 3 kids as well -- ages 3, 9, 11. :) I sent u a friend request. :)
  • skolls -- what kind of legal stuff do they make you sign? Im gettin ready to send mine in, but im worried they arent gonna give it to me cuz i bought it on Ebay. :( Hopefully they do tho. :)
  • I wouldnt eat any less than 1200 a day either. I just started doing P90X, and so im doing a ratio of 50% protein/ 30% carbs/ 20% fat. This is supposed to help rid yourself of excess body fat and build muscle. BUT it can leave you fatigued too since there's not a lot of carbs. So the 'balanced' option is 40/40/20. Another…
  • Qattusa -- you don't need a pull up bar, if you go to like Sports Authority or any other sporting goods place, you can get a door attachment for your bands -- costs like 5 bucks. you drape it over the door and it makes it so u can use ur bands to do pull up bar exercises -- you will even see a guy do the modifications for…
  • Hey! I hope you feel better really soon! Bronchitis is no joke! I had it a few years ago and I've never been the same since. :( I am supposed to JUST do my final fit test tomorrow for insanity, but Im gonna end up having to do the fit test and the max cardio/cardio abs i think, because i didn't do yesterday's max plyo, and…
  • I am finishing up insanity on Sunday! I LOVE IT!! it is DEFINITEY not for the faint at heart... you have to have some serious will power to push thru! but it is AMAZING! as of two weeks ago I had lost 20.5 inches total, 5 % body fat and 11.8 lbs. :) and ALL my fit test numbers have doubled or tripled! I am gettin ready to…
  • Hey ladies! I start P90X Lean on Monday -- this week Im finishing up INSANITY! I can't wait to BRING IT! :D
  • not to worry! i think most of us -- if not ALL of us felt the SAME way!!! I barely made it through the WARM up of the first fit test. I am on recovery week now, and while I still take breaks, I am ROCKING it. Got a HRM, and if you dont have one already, i STRONGLY suggest u get one, because it helps me to know that even…
  • Oh BOY! So I couldnt help but test out my new HRM today... so I did a second round of Core cardio and balance ( I know, kind of counterproductive of 'recovery') but what they heck... I couldnt believe that my calorie burn was 610!!! :D I have been way underestimating my burn. I am so excited about this! I feel so much more…
  • Whew... took a break from MFP for a couple weeks and tried Weight Watchers online instead.... and IM BACK now... got a HRM today, and SO glad I did! It is helping me track my calories so much better! PLUS i talked with my Dr. and she said for me to lose weight I should be eating 1200 cals a day, plus I can eat my exercise…
