  • Thanks!
  • I TOTALLY understand this! I have hated exercising all my life. A couple of doctors have told me in the last year that I needed to start exercising and I told them that I just can't stand it because I absolutely abhor sweating!!!! One suggested swimming, which is one of my very favorite things to do in the summer. I…
  • I had a great string going too, but forgot to log calories over the weekend. I stuck to the plan though. How's it going for you?
  • I started Couch to 5K in January. I run on the treadmill on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I sometimes get frustrated with myself because i HATE running. I just can't wait until the next walking segment comes along. BUT... I'm motivated to do it because I want to be ABLE to run. One of my reoccurring nightmares is that I…
  • Well, we got over a foot of snow here in mid-Michgan last night so there's no outdoor workout today. I planned on going to the gym to work out, but the gym is closed due to weather. Hmmm... I'll have to be creative here at home. I totally agree that music makes it easier. My running playlist is growing all the time. My…
  • THis is a good idea! Thank you! I saw an idea like this on Pinterest, but they used refrigerated cinnamon rolls and a waffle iron.
  • I like breweries. They often have some good artisan foods and craft beer. My favorite one is North Peak Brewing Company in Traverse City, Michigan. Their menu is an innovative take on bar/American food. If you ever get there, try the cherry bbq wings, southwest egg rolls, wood-fired pizzas, and cheddar-ale soup, just to…
  • Tell us about your favorite Italian dishes. Any culinary inspiration is appreciated around here., especially healthy ideas.
  • Yes, the grains cooked pretty quickly. I like them a little al dente anyway because if they go to mush the soup would be pretty unappetizing.
  • Ugh, Super Bowl diet blow-off is taking it's toll on my body. My stomach is upset, my gut is off, and I just feel unhealthy. I guess that's a good lesson to learn. This is the first time I've just entirely let myself eat whatever I want since I started MFP in November and it is not a rewarding experience. Lesson learned.
  • Shellie, I was thinking the same thing. That Weight Watchers mentality has derailed my weight loss a couple of times. I find I'm much more successful when I track everything. Speaking of track everything, does anyone else struggle with eating something and then realizing, "What? Why did I just eat that?!", especially when…
  • Hi All, I'm Becky. I'm 5' 10", my current weight is 251.5, and my pants size right now is between a 20 and a 22. Below are the goals to accomplish by May 1. 1. Weigh 230 or less 2. Run a 5K without walking (Race scheduled for April 6) 3. Fit in my favorite jeans (size 18) and then get to skinny for them!
  • In the produce section of my grocery store there is a soy section. In that section are soy and yam flour noodles called Shirataki Noodles. They need to be rinsed well and patted dry so they'll soak up sauce. You can have a whole package (2 servings) for 40 calories. They are a bit more chewy than regular pasta, but I find…
  • I use this app also. I love that I can build my own playlists to listen to and also get the voice prompts simultaneously. Great app!
  • Your cooking style is a lot like mine, except I'm not a huge fan of dry wines unless I'm using them in a recipe. I did find a moscato recently that was divine, though. I haven't cooked anything awe-inspiring in the last few weeks, but I'm feelin' the itch! I also haven't been paying much attention to carbs lately. I have…
  • Someone earlier mentioned the spotify playlists. I haven't checked them out yet, but I'll have to. Thank you.
  • I like your style! It's always so much easier when a great song comes on. :o)
  • Good idea. I didn't think of Pilates. I like doing it, so that will be a good motivator. Thank you.
  • I'm from Michigan too! This cold snap we're having makes for nasty running conditions! Are you running indoors or outside?
  • Great ideas! I'm adding song to my list thanks to you guys. My "Jogging" playlist is huge, but finding good up-tempo stuff is harder. That's probably because I like a lot of folksy, singer/songwriter music.
  • That sounds good. I like it when I can find easy ways to start meals, like the idea of starting with a boxed soup base. That takes a lot of time out of the prep. I'm more likely to make healthy meals at home on weeknights if I have a plan that's simple and doesn't take a whole lot of time. Good tip! Thanks.
  • I'm doing this program for weight loss. I thought that with good diet discipline and a new walking/jogging program the weight would just fall off, but it hasn't. I've maintained, but not lost. Granted, I'm only 1 week in so it may be too soon to tell.
  • A few I've added to my list so far: 4th of July- Shooter Jennings Bang Bang (feat. Adam Levine)- K'naan 20 Ways to Say Goodbye- Train Run-Around- Blues Traveler Solidarity- Five Iron Frenzy Rodeo: Hoedown- Aaron Copeland Somebody like You- Keith Urban Bajo La Lluvia- Merengue Latin Band My Life Would Suck Without You-…
  • I'm the same way. I'm a music teacher, so I almost can't make myself run on the wrong beat or fast/slower tempo, etc. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
  • I saw something like that on iTunes. Is it mostly instrumental dance track style songs?
  • Hi, my name is Becky and I'm new to the group. My mom and brother, who are runners in great shape, cornered me this weekend and challenged me to train for a 5k. I'm completely unathletic, ungraceful, and carrying 100 lbs too much. I pointed all of this out to them and they responded that if I can run a half an hour on an…
  • I got a recommendation today to check out a website by The Hairy Bikers. They're a couple of British guys who have lot a lot of weight and developed some of their own recipes. It looks like they have some specials of BBC too. While on their site tonight I came across this recipe. It sounds delicious and uses butternut…
  • Gotcha. I didn't realize they were so calorically heavy.
