Hi! I really feel for you! I suffered with gallstones for (at least) 2 years before finally having my cholecystectomy last month. I seem to have a totally different story to everyone else as I put on a lot of weight! The reason for this is because I was prescribed stupidly strong painkillers and I lived on them. Suddenly…

I don't tend to work out although I really should! I eat 500 on down day and 2300 on up day. Technically you should be able to completely relax on your up day but I know if I did then I would probably clear 4000 calories!!

Why is nobody following this? Lol
-
Is it healthy to do 2 full days? I really don't know but I do know I wouldn't have the willpower for it!

I don't think I could manage next having a big calorie day! I need my 2300 to still eat all my favourite things and not feel like I'm suffering too much. I still need to keep track of it though, it's not a totally relaxed day because if it was I would probably go WAY over!

Keiras_Mom: The numbers from dr johnsons calculator were slightly below mine so I rounded them up. Unfortunately I also need to keep a close eye on what I eat on UP days because I could easily finish off 4000 calories if I didn't. I've come in 200-300 calories over on my UP days so far but the way I see it I've gone from…

Hi! I started JUDDD on Monday and I'm doing 2300 on up days and 500 on down days because this seems to work out at a reasonable and healthy amount on average for the week. I'm a little concerned that everyone seems to be having so little on their up days as I thought we were meant to be able to relax on these days?…

I'm doing this :) I'm 241 lbs so I'm having 2300( ish) on eating days and 500 on fasting days. Today is an up day for me (woohoo!) so if there's anyone out there who is on the same days as me that wants to motivate each other then let me know :) I started on Monday by the way, so only 4 days in but already 4lbs down (the…

Basically I'm still sticking to my weekly calorie goal so I'm eating up to 2300 calories on my eating days. I expect I will switch to 5:2 or something similar once I have got on the way a little bit. Want to see some results for the time being and since I have 100lbs to lose I've got a while to go :) I'm not really…

Velvetered, take a look at the link posted above and see if you think it'll suit you. I find the main benefit for me is that I don't constantly feel like I'm being deprived of my favourite foods which is what has always made me cave in on previous "diets"
-
Spratalli, what's your story/plan? :)
-
Hi rachielous, I do the same with the weekly average, that's the bar I'm keeping my eye on in MFP! I expect I will switch to the 5:2 once I'm further down the line but for the time being I want to loose as much as poss to give me the motivation I know I will need once I'm a few weeks in! (I'm a serial dieter although I'm…

Hi Brit, I'm no expert so please nobody jump at me if I'm not 100% accurate! Basically it involves fasting on alternate days, so fast/eat/fast/eat and so on. However you don't go completely hungry, men should allow themselves 600 calories and women 500 although I'm sure that must be variable depending on each individuals…

I think that's probably the best way to do it because I know I find myself wanting everything more when I'm not allowed it! Well I completed yesterday at 521 calories which I'm happy with and now enjoying a "food" day :)
-
Ok so i've got my TDEE and its 15,876... So my eating days are about right... I think.
-
I didn't understand all of your abbreviations there but I've calculated my weekly maximum at 9800 calories so I can have 500 on fasting days and then 2300 on eating days.
-
I'm also trying to not eat anything on the fast days but will allow myself 500 if necessary so that I don't feel too hard done by! It's nice to hear that it gets easier, my first day was horribly depressing! I didn't eat as much as i thought I would the day after though and (so far) am managing to keep to the weekly…

How long have you both been doing it for? I only started Monday but I think this will work better for me than stressing about what I eat every day!

I'm new and from the UK. I've just started alternate day fasting as I think (after years of failed diets) that this might work best for me :)

Hi, I have just started alternate day fasting (500 calories one day and relaxed the next day) so would love to chat to others doing the same. As for the is it healthy or not arguement, I don't believe enough research has been done to say for sure but current thinking is that there are many health benefits besides from the…
