Nicely done!

I'm just going to throw "pro-active" out there. This word didn't exist until the 80s - Used as follows; "Let's be pro-active instead of reactive." The opposite of reactive is active, but pro-active was used often enough and it was added to the dictionary - and now we can't seem to loose it. (See what I did there?)

My only comment is my avatar............

Ditto! Much obliged!

I would second this - what did sharks ever do to you?

Just an update - In the "Activity Tracking Accuracy" segment of the Garmin connect app - it reads ".....Wrist heart rate accuracy during swimming is very limited". Also - I managed four lengths freestyle yesterday...........one length at a time, but still.
-
Admittedly when I tried to read them again in my forties (I'm 55) they seem a bit stilted - or maybe I'm just jaded ...... TANSTAFL! - Truer words were never spoken.
-
No arrogance at all on my part - and yet....you did it again. I have some advice. Q-TIP. Quit Taking It Personally.

Starship Troopers was an awesome book!!!! I've read it half a dozen times. Moon is a harsh mistress is great also.

This ^^^^^^ If I'm using a word incorrectly I'd like to know about it so I make sure my message is clear.

Do you get cold sores? My dental hygienist told me they are the interior manifestation of the herpes simplex virus. I get them a few times a year - they go away in a couple of days.

"And this one is wet, and this one is wet....where did you dry these? In a rain forest?"

Originally JFK in a speech in Berlin - saw Eddie Izzard live a couple of years ago - left halfway through. Not nearly as funny as the youtube vids - but maybe it was an off night.

Huh. Loose and lose. See the thing is they are two different words with two different meanings. It's nothing to do with grammar Nazism - because it isn't grammar. The opposite of loose is tight, the opposite of lose is gain. You might as well say " I want to apricot weight" because it makes as much sense. I bolded your…

I'm not sure what my MXR is - but I do know that formula doesn't work for me. I'm sitting at my desk and my HR is currently 47. During my 5k tempo run yesterday my ave HR was 160 and my max was 176. 25:39 or 8:11/ mile. I'm 55 - so 220 - age ........165 - 90% would be 148ish - never, ever.

Two things on the breast stroke and the tri - 1. I was concerned also, but asked someone who did the race last year and she did breast stroke. If I enjoy it, then I will get lessons and do freestyle for the next one. 2. It's a staggered start based on how long you think it'll take you to do the distance - so there should…

I see you have sprinkled some whey isolate on the ones on the back, probably vanilla[/quote] Have to make them "healthy" somehow! :D

I've gone the restrictive diet method before, and while it works in the short run - because you are monitoring everything you put in your mouth - it doesn't last. Just using mfp and my Garmin is working very nicely thank you. Bread's only issue is that is calorie dense - which was great before food became so plentiful -…

Can't swim any other way and the swim portion takes place in a pool.
-
Thanks - going to try the first one and see if I enjoy it. As it's a sprint tri - I figure about 2hrs ought do cover it.

Just gonna leave this here..........

The only time I put cream in my coffee it's Bailey's Irish. I've given up going back for seconds and sitting on the couch watching TV every night and all day Sunday.

Swimming pool.

That's what I was thinking - 227 cal this am for my run - 3.13 miles in 25:39 - ave hr 160 bbm. From a "perceived effort" point of view the run was a much more strenuous activity than the swim.
-
Thanks all. @haybales - your web link gives me 226 - also when you log your workout as "lap swimming" in Garmin connect - it won't show the hr graph. But I think I did notice that when it was recorded as basic. @joenali - you need a new hat - you're talking through yours @MeanderingMammal - good to know this is my first…

I cycled 7.6 miles after work in 29 min and it gave me 173 Ave hr 122.
