  • I think your typical combat Marine will burn over 5000 calories a day. Carrying 80lbs of gear in 100+ degree weather for 10 or 12 hours will burn a lot of calories and fat.
  • I did the Spartan Race 3 weeks ago. Then volunteered there for 9 more hours. The last 2 hours we had to dismantle and clean up. Basically it was another workout. According to my Polar M400 I burned 4800 calories that day, being active for 12 hours! I'd say, that was enough!
  • Find someone selling Insanity on Craigslist for like $20. It's a great program. You will get toned and ripped if you do the whole program. After 2 weeks I saw a noticeable difference in my chest and arms!
  • If you count some beers or margaritas, then YES!
  • Look up HIIT training on YouTube. Lots and Lots of ideas. Or do the BootCamp class if there's one. But make a plan, don't just go. If you do you'll end up doing less and not systematically build. Look up Treadmill Workouts too, lots of good ideas there.
  • Foam roller and more activity. Get that lactic acid out.
  • Don't think I won't be eating the bacon wrapped little smokies and chips and guac!
  • Allan, I don't want to be distracted from watching the commercials, that's the best part. Also, I figure with all the clock stops, time out's etc, the total work out will be well over 90 minutes! But I like your thinking!!
  • I'm doing my 4th Sprint next month! Training is easy, burpees, push ups, pull ups, chest and arms. Also, running. I found my biggest weakness least year was the running between the obstacles. Watch the videos on YouTube on how to do the things like the Inverted Wall, Rope Climb, Spear Chuck, etc. A lot of it is technique…
  • You need to JFGI that. If you don't know what JFGI is, look it up in Google.
  • Thank you moderator, or who ever corrected my AUTO CORRECTED MISSPELLING! I was trying to, but there was no way to edit it.
  • Damned auto correct! Ugghh, Internet 1 - Mike 0
  • Lol, no it jumped awhile ago!
  • Well, I think I'm gonna kill the timer on my DVR and stop. I kind of came to this realization watching it last night.
  • There's a Facebook group dedicated to the Polar A360 - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1701559760077137/
  • FYI I have used Polar Beat, Digifit, Polar ft7 and the polar link built into the treadmill. All at the same time while using my H7. And I get different calorie burn results from all of them, sometimes up to 25% difference. Use your results as a guideline. It really depends on the software crunching the numbers, and not so…
  • What app are you using? Try a different one. I use a Digifit, the Polar Beat App is kind of light in the reports area.
  • Drink lots of water. Stretch your hips, I mean really deep stretches. Looks up some yoga poses for hip-flexors, buttocks, lower back etc. Take a bath with epsom salts. Seek out a sports therapist.
  • FitBit just announced the new FitBit Charge HR and FitBit Surge. However those aren't going to be available for awhile (Q1 2015 at best). But I question how accurate the LED based HRM will be. I use the Polar H7 - http://bit.ly/polarh7 I like it because it syncs with the Polar FT4/F7 and Polar Loop. Also it syncs with a…
  • I don't think the strapless ones are cheaper. There are a couple of wrist tracking devices out there (Basis, Amiigo, possibly a new Fitbit). Those are all over $200. Also there have been some problems when your wrist moves around a lot (like in a push up or burpee). The LED technology is still new here. I use a Polar H7…
  • I don't pause it. You're still burning calories, your heart is still pumping. Your heart is recovering in that time period. If you stop for 20 minutes, then maybe you should pause it. But otherwise, keep it going. I use the following and get really good data from them http://www.digifit.com http://bit.ly/polarh7
  • I think a better option is the Polar H7. It syncs with other Polar Devices (like the FT4/7 and Polar Loop). Also syncs with the treadmill at the gym. It's made by Polar who knows how to make a Heart Rate Monitor. I use the H7 with the DigitFit app and I get really good data from it. The H7 is only $7 more! Check it out:…
  • No they are not even close. I use a Polar H7 HRM and I find it depends on what is actually calculating the calories varies a lot. With the H7, I connect it to my Polar FT7 watch, to the Polar Beats App, the DigiFit App, and the treadmill at the gym. All of them give me different readings for the same workout. The lowest to…
  • Stay away from the Nike. They have discontinued it. I have the 1st Gen fuel band and it's guaranteed to break every 6 months. It gives no real or meaningful data. The Fitbit just tells you steps, distance/stairs and calories. The calories are pretty inaccurate. In fact all the fitness trackers are inaccurate. A lot of…
  • Ok, after looking at all the junk ones on Amazon. I decided to pull the trigger on one of the more expensive ones. It gets good reviews. Let's keep our fingers crossed. http://amzn.to/1rs9MVY
  • I never really thought of that. I sit all day long. Might as well get a little exercise. I may order one of these! http://amzn.to/1yruQl7 Thanks for the idea!
  • I'm a strong believer of the heart rate monitor. I kinda stopped worrying about calories awhile ago and concentrate more on time in zones. For me, I want a strong heart, so I push to get into the Orange Zone for a good 15-20 minutes in a workout. I have a Polar H7 (http://bit.ly/polarh7) I use the Digitfit app ($5) and it…
  • I think the Polar devices are all pretty accurate. I think the issue is the computer doing the computation. Here's what I mean. I wear a Polar H7 http://bit.ly/polarh7 when I work out. It will sync with my FT7 Watch, my phone and the Treadmill. So I start tracking using the FT7 Watch, Polar Beats App, DigiFit App, and the…
