Biggest Loser - Losers
So I fire up the DVR last night to watch the first episode of the Biggest Loser. 2 HOURS long! I'm so sick of hearing about how pathetic these peoples lives are. What adversity they've over come. What challenges they've faced in their lives. Ohh boo-hoo me, I got fat cause my dad died! Guess what, both my parents died, I…

Fun Christmas Themed Workout
Yesterday at the gym we did this "12 days of Fitness" workout. It was fun. It's something you can probably do at home with limited equipment or in the gym. It's done like the "12 Days of Christmas" song. You start with 1, then do 2 and 1, then do 3, 2, and 1, and so on until you get to 12. Here's the exercises we did: 1…

Jawbone UP3
Anyone interested in the Jawbone Up3, I see Amazon has it on sale for $119, that's a pretty good deal since it's MSRP is $179. I read they just released some updates which address some of it's early issues. Specifically Automatic Sleep Mode, and others. http://amzn.to/1KodjCk

Looking to add some "friends" - Are you active and eat well and SHARE your diary? Please add me.
I'm looking for people who are active (work out regularly) and visit MFP regularly. More importantly, do you eat right and log your food and share your diary? I'm looking for food ideas, so I like to peek at what others are eating. Myself, I workout almost every day 5-6 times a week. I do HIIT style workouts and I mountain…

Differences between the Polar M400 and A300?
I see the Polar A300 is out now, has anyone got one yet? What's the major difference between the A300 and M400? They seem like they are just about the same device, just that the M400 has GPS. I see Amazon has it now here:…

Costco has PB2
Went to Costco today. They had 16oz jars of PB2 for $5.49. The same thing on Amazon is over $10! Very exciting! I hope they continue to carry it.

Garmin VivoSmart or Something Else?
I was thinking about getting this: http://amzn.to/1yZNaTa But now I see the MS Band and FitBit Surge have similar features. What's everyone's opinion? I like the basic Smart Watch Features. I just want something accurate with a good user interface/app. Thanks!

Kids at the gym
My gym has an age restriction of 16 and older. However, I always see some very young kids running around using the equipment. It usually doesn't bother me. There has been this little girl at my gym working out lately. When I say little I mean like 11 or 12. She seems to know what she's doing and is walking around like she…

Looking for Nike Fuel Band Friends
If you are a Nike Fuel Band user, please send me a friend request. I'm looking for others to compete against!! Just got it and so far it's really cool. And for all the haters out there. I'm not expecting it to be accurate for calorie burns. I use a HRM for that. It's just a way to keep me in check during the day to make…

Giving advice at the gym
It's always a touchy thing to give advice at the gym (unless you're a trainer). But last night I was taking a Body Pump Class (high rep, fast paced, lifting). There was a man in the class, a 1st timer, who must have weighed 350-400lbs. He was struggling for sure. I was standing near him and offered up a couple of tips here…

Evil Subway - Read this if you eat at there!
I can only assume this person did their research. This is really scary for anyone who eats at Subway often. I used to eat there 1-2 times a week. Since I work from home now and don't eat out much, I don't eat there very often. Maybe once every 2 months. This is very sad news since I really like eating there.…

Weight Vest Training
I decided to step up my training a bit. Under the advice (constant nagging) of a friend, I picked up a 20lb weight vest. I only added 8lbs to it to start. I did my normal workout routine; ~3 miles of jogging, burpees, sit ups, tricep dips, push ups, stuff like that. I wear a Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor when I workout. In…

Day 13
It's Saturday. How is your day gonna be? I had a banana this morning, which of course has a lot of sugar (15 grams to be exact). But I then followed it up with 60 minutes of vigorous exercise so I used it all up. All good. That's the way it should be. If you're gonna put sugar in your body, use it. Otherwise, skip it!!…

Day 9
How did you do today? I think I did really good. I'm at 25g for the day. This is the first time I was UNDER 30. I'm not eating much fruit right now. But that's ok. I'm supplementing. Long term, this diet wouldn't be good as there is too much good in fruits and veggies that Im avoiding right now because of the sugar. But…

Day 11
Well, somehow, even with having a little bite of the Big Ear Bunny, I ended the day a 26 grams of sugar. Not sure how that happened. But I'll take it! I had a lot of protein today. I did a boot camp workout, so that will help. Even after eating dinner I'm over 800 calories UNDER my goal (exercise adjusted). I literarily…

Day 10
Hard work and self control is paying off. I'm down 2lbs since April 1st! (and that's no joke!). Keep up the good work, don't put that cookie/chocolate/cake/muffin/ice cream etc in your mouth today. Make today the day you are 100% sugar free!!
-
Day 8
Sorry I was MIA this weekend. I got the flu or food poisoning or something. It started Friday night, I was in bed all day Sat and Sun. Threw up a couple of times. The good news is I didn't eat much. But I was sipping Gatoraid. Anyway, I'm back 100% today. Got a good 90 minute workout in this AM. Ran 3.5 miles and did…

Power Blocks
Anyone use/have Power Block dumbbells? Are they really all that? What's intriguing to me is that I can get a kettle bell handle for them. I usually only use a 20, 25, 30, and 35 Lbs dumb bell anyway. So is it really worth it to spend that much? I got a nice 40lb set at WallyWorld for $20.

Day 5
Well, I tried to make a healthy smoothie for breakfast. I blew my SUGAR right out of the park. Protein Powder 1/2 cup of almond milk 1/2 cup water 3/4 of a Yoplait Light Yogurt 5 frozen strawberries 263 Calories 18 Grams of Sugar I guess I have to be really light the rest of the day. NO sneaking chocolate!
-
Day 4
I will admit that I snuck a little bite of chocolate yesterday and didn't log it!! Ok, now that I've aired my sins!! As of this AM, I am down 2.5lbs from Monday. That could very well be water weight, but I kinda think it's not. I've been really sticking to my calories and my sugar consumption has been way down compared to…

End of Day 1!
Well, here we are at the end of day 1. I think I did OK. I didn't eat anything that had processed sugar in it (well except some left over Honey Baked Ham). But nothing with added sugar. What really killed me today was eating some baby carrots. That added 10 Grams! The ham wasn't really too bad on the sugar actually, only 5…

Day 1 of Sugar Free April
Day 1 of Sugar Free April. After reading the packages of food I would have though to be sugar free, I find that EVERYTHING has added sugar to it. Campbells Light Soup for example. Canned green beans for example. My plan is to avoid as much sugar as possible. Not eating any foods like cookies, crackers, ice-cream, etc that…

Getting Started
Today is Day 1 of Sugar Free April. As I started preparing to do this a week or so ago, I tried to figure out what I was actually going to do. At first I was going to just "cut out sugars". Well, that's easier said than done. After reading labels, I've discovered just about EVERYTHING has added sugar to it. Then you go and…

Sugar Free April
I'm going to try and be sugar free in April. Who's in with me? The rules are simple. If it has sugar, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sucrose or fructose in it, you avoid it. Naturally occurring sugars in fruit and dairy are ok. What ever your daily goal is for sugar, cut it half. Mine is 60g, so I will…

Polar H6/H7 with Beats App
Anyone using the Polar H6 or H7 with the Polar Beats App? Do you like the App? Is it convenient to use? I have a FT7 now, and am looking at the H7 since it works with both the iPhone and the FT7 simultaneously. My problem is I don't have an iPhone. But my contract is up in April and I will probably switch. Any feedback on…

New Gadget
I saw a guy at the gym wearing this a couple months ago. Then yesterday I saw an ad in a magazine for it. It looks pretty cool. However, for me, it lacks 1 critical feature. I wish it had a little screen which tells me my HR, Calories, and Distance. I don't want to have to whip out my phone to know that info while I'm…

Polar HRM Problems
My FT7 seems to have stopped working. I have replaced the battery in the watch and the transmitter. I have tightened the strap. I have made sure my strap was wet. It won't find my heart rate and just says "check transmitter". Is the strap bad do you think?? I've read of others who have some similar type problems that a…
