  • MFP needs a "funny" or laughing reaction.

  • OMG thank you for this!
  • You can set by gram with premium, but regardless, once you add exercise, the goal numbers increase. This is part of OP’s complaint. I have this problem too, but for the most part I’m able to keep my target for carbs in mind and ignore the increase MFP gives me. I have not found any other settings to remedy that.
  • There is a group called Keto. Check that out. 😊

  • I did, and I like having more flexibility/customization. Also, the lack of ads is nice. It's just personal preference.
  • It seems like you've gotten good advice already. I just wanted to add, if it was me, I would maybe lower my calorie total by 100 (so from 1670 to 1570) for a couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference. I presume you got the 1670 from entering your info in MFP, but maybe from a doctor or something else. Also, do…
  • Hello! I thought this would be more of a philosophical or existential discussion. Back pain sucks. Committedly recording on MFP everything I eat is helping me make progress toward my fitness goals. You’ve come to the right place (although sometimes you’ll need to take the message boards with a grain of salt IMO.) The…
  • Thanks for this insight.
  • I was just diagnosed in February. Had to wait 3 mo to take the recommended education class, so in the meantime I was reading a lot (stressing out about diabetes) and discovered keto. In fact someone here recommended Dr. Bernstein’s book to me. Now I’m reading one by Dr. Phinney. My BG has reduced and I feel good. Hoping…

  • There is a keto group. Click on groups, then search on a topic or word like “keto”. Join us!
  • These well researched people you speak of often jump into convos with multiple woos and lectures. Has anyone considered how aggressive and disheartening this is to new members? Also, they’ve shared incorrect info about topics like diabetes, so I doubt they’ve extensively researched it. But they freely give me and others…
  • We had a volunteer appreciation picnic last week at my workplace (I'm staff, not a volunteer. Some of the volunteers I see every week, but others I only see occasionally.). A couple of people made comments like "Oh Hi, I didn't recognize you!" and I immediately assumed it was because I was wearing a sun hat. In retrospect,…
  • It takes time (a few weeks maybe?) for your body to adjust. Make sure to replenish electrolytes. Perhaps take it easy with exercise until you adjust. It sounds like you already are.
  • We were unusual at the time, when online dating sites were just beginning. We met online. But one of the things I think is interesting about my relationship is that we went to many of the same concerts and events without ever meeting. He grew up in the city and that was his circle of friends. I grew up in a rural area, but…
  • This kinda sounds to me like it could be insulin resistance or diabetes. Just throwing it out there as a possibility. “One symptom can be extreme hunger: Even after you eat, you may still feel very hungry. That’s because your muscles aren’t getting the energy they need from the food; your body’s insulin resistance keeps…
  • I completely understand this. I lost a good chunk of weight when I turned 30, then slowly gained it back over the years. Now I'm 47 and working to lose it again. Every time I hear someone say "I feel so great! I'll never go back to how I was." I think, Yep, I said the same thing. But nevertheless, I am getting fit again. I…

  • You all make me feel old... I honestly don't remember what I weighed in high school! I remember I always felt like I was too fat. Maybe I was and maybe I wasn't. But I certainly wasn't as heavy as I became later as an adult. I guess my goal is based on my previous weight loss, when I got down to 150 around age 30. When I…
  • Good numbers everyone! Looking good. Mine was 103 yesterday. I forgot this morning. It was not my usual Saturday morning.
  • Different doctors will tell you slightly different things. But ballpark figures: for fasting, you aim for under 100. 1 hr after a meal should be under 140. 2 hours after a meal should be under 120. But, basically, if you're higher than those numbers, don't fret. Make changes to your diet and lifestyle to try to get a…
  • I did add the fiber column to my diary, but I've basically been tracking total carbs. I have a target for carbs, and I usually end up a little over it. This is working for me so far.
  • I feel the same - not sure what my goal weight will be, but I've set a target of 140 to start. The lowest I've been as an adult was 155. I felt good then, but bad habits/depression/life crept in and the weight came back on. 140 puts me in the range of healthy on the BMI charts, but we shall see what I look like/feel like.…
  • I've lost 32 (over about 5 1/2 months), and I'm aiming to lose 48 more. I have found it pretty easy with keto way of eating. I don't struggle with hunger or cravings much. On those rare occasions, it's usually that time of the month. I hope that remains true for the duration. I feel good, have energy, etc.
  • Eh, ok. I can see how it could be read that way. Maybe.

  • If there is something wrong with what I wrote, it would have been more helpful if you linked to a particular thread rather than a whole message board/group. The dietdoctor.com site, to which I linked, is also a link at the top of the Keto group.

  • You might want to check out this website. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/how-to-eat-more-fat The idea behind keto is to eat enough protein & fat to be satisfied. If I don't exactly hit what is programmed in MFP, I personally don't stress about it. Other people may have a different view on that.

  • I just want to give you a little hope about this. I started keto in March, and I've mainly been focusing on the nutrition to lose weight. I run some, and work out in the gym, but I'm not training for anything. I signed up for a 5k on kind of a whim in May, and had a really good run! Some days are good, some days not so…
  • Yep. Holidays are difficult when you have a messy family.
