Hi Judith, I too had an overly intimate relationship with food. One of my hesitations with doing WLS was what I perceived to be an intolerable change in that relationship. What I have learned in my first 6 months post-op is that I can still have a relationship (and a decadent one) if I look at things right. I LOVE sushi.…

I also have the hunger feeling, and I like JM said, I plan based on my restriction and macro nutrient goals (with modification for heavy activity). As for regrets, the only one I have is not wrapping my head around this solution years ago. But we all come to our path in our own time. -Phill

We've had good luck with Vitaminn Shoppe for Quest bars, and they are cheap off of Amazon.

So how about protein drinks? take a cup of 2% milk and 1 scoop of protein powder, split that over two drinking sessions. That would add about 200 cals and 30g of protein.

Joysie, call your NUT and tell them how many calories you are burning, and how many you are eating. It could be the case of not eating enough. Can you use more protein shakes to get more protein/calories in? I'm not suggesting eating back all of your exercise calories, but 25% to start, and maybe working up to 50% might be…

Those do look good, but also pricey. $40/12 versus $27/12 quest on Amazon. They are also made with different sources of protein, not whey isoloate. I did find that there is a 6-pack of all their flavors on Amazon for $19.99 (prime shipping). -Phill

Welcome to the other side. This post really brought things into focus for me. Now my 3-week stall around Christmas makes sense. I was almost 2 months out. -Phill

I like this definition, and it really matches with dumping from the RNY world. Diarrhea is just sometimes a by-product of dumping, but not an indication of it. I have had this happen to me a couple times in the 6 months since surgery. It's always been on a day when I had a LOT of activity and calories earned back (I'm…

I'm still about 90 pounds from goal, but my hubby is only 15-20 pounds away. He's lighter than I have ever seen him. What he gets rom people is that he looks thin and great now. Funny thing is, he's the same weight as in Highschool, when people called him fat. It's all a head game, and one that I try not to play. -Phll

Another endorsement for those ricotta beaks. Also turkey chili. Use diced tomatoes and beans then run an immersion blender through it. -Phill

If I ran into her post-surgery on the recovery floor while doing laps I might accidentally run over her toe with my IV pole. Accidentally. Twice. Just sayin'. My pre-surgery BMI was around 58. My husband's was 36. Without knowing the details, you would never know that he had far more co-morbidities than I did and needed it…

Another Quest fan here. Choc Chip Cookie dough, Almond something-or-other, Banana nut muffin are my favorites.

Feel free to add me. Sleeved 11/10. I'm not super active on the boards, but I post my diary daily and it's open to friends. -Phill

A couple big ones for me is no seat belt extender when flying anymore and I bought a bike this weekend.

My only regret is not wrapping my head around it sooner and waiting until I was 46 to start this. I have been so happy with my progress. I am not quite 5 months post-op and I am down 94 pounds from surgery and 131 from my start last June. I have given up my CPAP (with my doctor's approval) and the pain in my joints from…

I've been on Lexapro for about 14 months, and I'm 5 months past surgery. No issues with it and I continue to take it. I would ask your therapist and your surgeon's office if they have experience with people on those meds (and that combination of meds) and what to expect. Will there be be any slow-release issues like the…

Have you had a frank discussion with him? Maybe he can't come all the way up to your simmer, but with some conversation about it (what's changed for you, how you feel, how his actions make you feel) that will open things up. And be prepared to talk about how he feels, and how your actions make him feel. Not the easiest…

What amazing progress!

Thaeda, you are such an amazing person. You put yourself out there and keep on going. I, too, am in therapy, and continue to work through triggers and responses. I love that when you have bad days you are able to learn and come with a plan for next time. I get such strength from your posts. -Phill

Sleeved 11/10/14. I'm not very active in the boards but I log daily and my diary is open to friends. Feel free to add me. -Phill

1 month's worth of trash, and an ostrich egg!

^^^^This!! I'm still at least 6 months to goal. I know I won't be "aesthetically pleasing" with all the hanging skin, but have heard it is a painful procedure with potentially difficult recovery, and when would I be satisfied??
-
Do they give any sort of reasoning with the denial? Like not long enough at goal weight, or not enough documented medical issues with the extra skin? Good luck with the appeal. I'm looking forward to your updates. -Phill

Welcome to the other side! Swift healing. -Phill

Fabulous progress!

My program also recommended the flinstones chewables. When I was in the first 2 weeks post-op they were the highlight of my day. My dosage is 1 AM and 1 PM. The biggest challenge was looking at all the different supplements I was taking and figuring out how much more D and Iron I needed. Vitamin-math.

I'm early enough in the process to not have fallen off the wagon yet, but have learned a lot from the people here who are further along. Do you have the option of visiting a nutritionist, ideally affiliated with thge program you went through? My insurance will let me go as often as I want at no cost to me. During the…

h-pylori is a bacteria that causes stomach ulcers. I'm surprised he didn't start by suggesting a wait-and-see approach to how you respond to the medicine for that. Really sorry to hear how they have fallen apart on the post-op care. I'm lucky to be in a stellar program that has had great support throughout the entire…

400 calories at 2 months? I would kill somebody. I wouldn't even care who.

More good advice!
