  • Welcome, Betsy! I've been on MFP for a while but took a break over the last few months. Getting back into it, and looking for new supportive friends. Feel free to add me! And anyone else in this thread. :)
  • Hi Siousix. I'm in the same boat. I've started slipping down the slippy slow of re-gaining the weight I had lost (only 10lbs so far but 10 is still a lot), and am desperately trying to turn it around. Getting back into MFP is definitely helping, so feel free to add me and message me any time. Same goes for everyone in the…
  • I, too, am gallbladder-less and have no issues following Primal/Paleo. In fact, less than 3 weeks (more like 2) after my surgery I was back on this diet. 2 years later and I still have no problems. Your body will adapt. Feel better soon!
  • I'm in the same boat, trying to recommit and finally reach my goals. The last 6 months have wreaked havoc on my food choices and I'm showing the consequences of it (gaining 10lbs). I'm half way through to my ultimate goal (though it took me 3 years to get here); lost 50ish lbs, and have 40ish to go. I'm determined to push…
  • Variety has been one of the keys to my success. If you get bored, you're less likely to want to workout. It sounds like you do a wide variety of things, which is perfect! I say stick with it, and be open to trying new things within your local community.
  • I have mine set on 55f/30p/15c at 1750 calories. I focus more of the macros than I do the calories tho.
  • I'm definitely struggling with something similar. My boyfriend does not follow Primal/Paleo at all, so when I visit his place dinners involve a lot of pasta, rice or potatoes. And I actually had boxed sugary cereal for breakfast--I haven't had that since I was a kid! I'm going to start trying to incorporate more Primal…
  • Awesome! Definitely a good read, and some necessary reminders. Thanks for sharing!
  • It's definitely not permanent! It's just your body adjusting to the increased fat content. It's especially prevalent for those missing their gallbladders (like me).
  • This is SO amazing!! Great job! And fantastic willpower! I know how hard it is to adjust--you're doing awesome! Paleo/Primal is DEFINITELY the answer. :)
  • Welcome!! It's wonderful that you're giving this a shot! I don't think you'll regret it! I've been Primal for the past 2 years, and I'm never going back to the SAD. I do have the occasional cheat, bc who doesn't miss pizza after a while, but I try to moderate them as much as possible. Creating Primal versions of a lot of…
  • I have noticed myself eating wayyy too much cheese lately, and mostly not a "healthy" non-processed type(s). My goal is to not have cheese in or on anything this week, and see how it goes. I love cheesy-gooey-ness so this is going to be a challenge, but one that needs doing.
  • And me too! Anyone on this thread feel free to add me!
  • I agree with all of the comments on this thread. It's all about HOW you cook the veggies, as opposed to experimenting with new kinds. I do highly, highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone, but I understand that can be difficult. As adults it's hard to try new things and break habits we've been developing for years…
  • Frozen, canned, or in-season only veggies are great options, and I usually look for good deals: I'll buy whatever meat is on sale. Buying in bulk, tho expensive initially, will save you lots in the long run; and might be especially helpful with 5 adults to feed. I tend to avoid the expensive veggies on tight weeks, like…
  • Hi! You're more than welcome to friend me. I've lost 50lbs so far, and all from following a Primal/Paleo lifestyle. :)
  • I agree with Richelle! My go-to are all from marksdailyapple. He really does his homework and explains things in a way that's just really easy to understand.
  • Running has been my thing for the past year. And by "my thing" I mean the thing I started to do because I really wanted to make friends in the new area I moved to. At least at first I didn't hate it as much as I always thought I would. I saw steady improvement and was more physically fit than I ever had been. But as each…
  • That honeycomb idea sounds really interesting. I've been suffering pretty bad lately with my allergies for the last two years since moving to Virginia. I hate taking a ton of medicines, so I usually just suffer through an symptoms I may have. I'll have to look at some of our local farmers markets and see if there is any…
  • For me, my journey started 2 years ago. I had just graduated from college, and felt lost/depressed about my future. I was very overweight and was suffering from another bout of situational depression (which has happened multiple times throughout my life). While on vacation with my family, I told my parents I had the crazy…
  • This is such an excellent idea! I desperately need a crockpot haha.
  • Same here!! I just got engaged on July 26th. Don't have a wedding date picked, but now I have extra motivation to lose the weight. I'll send you a friend request!
  • The feelings you've been feeling are indeed the beginning's of the carb flu. The eye thing may just be a side affect of the headache. I definitely felt sluggish and not mentally all there for a while. Don't worry, it'll pass.
  • O_o Can I have them all delivered to my house please?! Wow, amazing collection! Thanks for sharing with us all!
  • Ahhh! I've noticed myself doing the same thing recently! I've been trying hard not to take a judgmental view of their choices, and to accept others' criticisms without internalizing them, but it's really difficult sometimes. I've pretty much stopped talking about it among my friends because no one truly cares what I'm…
  • Like homesweeths mentioned, planning ahead is key when it comes to little time for cooking but wanting to maintain Primal/Paleo. When I'm in a time crunch, salads are my go to meal. I try to keep it interesting with the protein options and the veggie selections. Chopping them all up ahead of time, so you can just throw it…
  • 1. Nuts 2. Olive Oil 3. Grass-fed butter 4. Chicken 5. Steak 6. Cabbage 7. Tomatoes 8. Lettuce/spinach 9. Full fat salad dressings 10. Berries
  • I've been Primal for almost 2 years, and I just had my gallbladder removed this past May. My doctor told me that I needed to keep a low fat diet for the first 2-3 weeks after the surgery, but after that I was free to eat whatever my stomach and bowels (sorry for being gross, but that's what he said!) would tolerate. I…
  • I started really using MFP for all it has to offer just about a month ago. I absolutely love it, and I LOVE supporting all of my friends. I didn't know any of them (except 5) before starting. It's so nice to have them all in my corner even though we're all technically strangers. Anyone on here feel free to add me! Happy to…
  • Body weight workouts! Pushups, planks, side planks, squats, and burpees. All as fast as you can for as long as you can, for 2 sets. Then you're done! For me, it usually takes about 20-25 minutes, and you're constantly doing something different so there's little chance he'll get bored. Do this 2-3 times a week, along with…
