I'm so glad you found something that motivates you! I'm a little worried when I see your goals, though. A healthy body fat percentage for a male age 20-40 is between 8% and 19%. Your body does actually require some fat for healthy function-- for example, the blood-brain barrier is made of lipids (fat) and without enough…

Love it! I may have to start watching that show!!

Hahahaha!! LOVE IT!! Definitely an NSV!

Bump bump bump! I'm curious what the more knowledgeable folks have to say about this. I will now commit the dreaded sin of repeating something I heard here and I have no idea whether or not it's true: Someone wrote that in the "fat burn" zone your body can convert the fat to fuel your muscles properly, but once…

I've been contemplating whether or not to "become" a runner for a little while now. Today I will go get fitted for good shoes and commit to running this evening. Thanks for the inspiration!

It's really hard to say without seeing your diary-- you might want to open it up so folks can give more accurate advice. :)

Wow, great job!!!! It can be so difficult to motivate yourself to begin with, but to do it when you're tired takes a ton of determination. Congratulations on your NSV, and on taking control of your health! :drinker:

I've been told that it takes 10 days for food to "show up" on the scale, so if you were binging over Easter, that probably accounts for the current weight. Now that you're back on track, you should see progress next week. I've done the same thing myself and thought, "well if I can eat like *that* and still lose, why am I…

Incredible difference-- you look great!!! Goodonya for all your hard work!!

LOL! Note to self: irritate salesperson...

I did a quick google search-- the proper spelling is "Symply too good to be true"-- and there are a ton of places to get them online including her website and amazon. Please let us know how they are when you get them! :-)

Evansville, Indiana-- had sirens and some crazy wind (and hail) a bit earlier, but just lots of thunder and lightning now. Supposed to get a second round later tonight that's worse. My lights/electricity/internet have been on and off for a couple hours. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! Lots of  …

Awesome! Thanks for the tip! :drinker:

Agreed! I'm not down with the barefoot thing! I wish there were more than just one running store in my town-- where do I get fitted for shoes when I don't trust my local shop?
-
WOW!!!! You're a ROCKSTAR! Thanks for sharing-- it's so inspirational and gives me hope that maybe one day I will feel like running a 5K for no particular reason... and then run another one right after. Hehehe. One step at a time for me!! Way to go!! :o)

Bumpity bump bump (for later!) :o)

Yep yep yep!! TOM's not easy on anyone! :grumble:

My weight isn't as important to me as my pant size-- I'm going for a 4-6.

Agreed.

Vegetarian here. Welcome to MFP! :flowerforyou:

You ladies are AMAZING!!! :drinker:  Sounds like we all made it through the first week (even with a few slips!) and are starting week 2. I was great yesterday and there's even a lava crunch cake (weakness!!) in my fridge that I didn't touch. Week 2: Bring it on!! If anyone wants to join the challenge, come on in,…

Okay, thanks for the advice-- I will try to pay more attention to my breathing and make sure I'm inhaling and exhaling correctly.

Glad I'm not just imagining this! The ketosis thing-- nope. That would assume I'm in way better shape than I'm actually in. This happens to me when I've reached my max heart rate and stayed up around there for a couple minutes. I can't keep it up much longer than that! Angelica, it never occurred to me that it might be…

You all are awesome. Coffee helps with not falling asleep but then I'm just an awake fuzzy-head! I'd never thought to try aromatherapy to clear my head-- I'll give that one a shot, too. What I DID find out today was that a long workout does wonders to clear my head. Yipee!!

I agree with the other posters who said that your son needs to see a therapist. I would NOT recommend medication for many reasons: 1) a child's brain is still forming and there is NO medical evidence that these medications are safe for a developing brain; 2) medication trials are conducted on adults-- a developing brain…

Mmm, fruit sounds great right now! I'll give that a go. Thanks! :-)

Ooooh! Awesome!! Thanks so much for the link!! :-)

Eeeek! I hate to rain on the yummy-flavored parade, but I want to make this a safer, healthier party. All the studies that show amazing benefit from cinnamon are talking about the kind that you don't eat. Yep, I'm sure. Here's why: There are four types of cinnamon, Ceylon Cinnamon or "true cinnamon" (almost exclusively…

I would be lost without mine!! I use it probably 10-20 times per day-- I weigh *everything*!!!

If you look at the glycemic index, rice cakes (or rice cereal, etc) are super high on the list, meaning they spike your blood sugar. Try a complex carb instead-- I know, I know, not nearly as convenient!
