yes, it's magical like that.

that's where I am, exactly that spot, and that's why I don't do refeeds. Also, phrasing it as "refeed" suggests I'm not feeding myself now. But I am and in a much better way than I did when I was struggling with the carb load.

I've got a place. Good heavens!

keto is simple: stay under 20g carbs and you're pretty well guaranteed to get into ketosis. protein is usually as per lean body weight, and is moderate, fat is to satiety. That's it. No magic macro ratios.

took me about 8 months....

I'm finding that too. I'm training now, and even the little I add to the energy expenditure side (about 500kcal daily or so) already causes me to lose serious weight, because I really have to be conscious to take in more calories. If I don't watch my weight, I'll lose too much. I taught myself to make my eating pattern…

So, here I am, in the conditioning phase, which I do on the spinbike, because the weather is too cold and miserable to venture out of doors almost every day. Also, the days are still short and I have an intense work schedule at the moment, lots of traveling to Brussels and back (I'm on loan to an EU project) I do need to…

I lost about 15kg, going from just under 70 kg to 55 kg. I now fluctuate between 55 kg and 57 kg. With a heavy training load I need to make sure I don't dip beneath 55kg. I find that this really demands attention.

yes, that's my pattern now too. I love it. Although I have no qualms about eating earlier if I feel like it. Perhaps what I like most about keto is the freedom and flexibility it gives in meal patterns.

our outcycle them.

Going higher on carbs is just not worth it to me, now, after about 20 months on keto. I can go a bit higher while training or racing. Carb cycling is counterproductive for me.
-
I love training while fasting.
-
Usually I start eating after 12, and I stop at 8PM. I like the sharpness and the energy I'm getting.
-
i did this and it turned out really nice.

Oh interesting!

No doubt I'll be cursing myself many, many times, but it's a great race community too. And preparing is a lot of fun too. For instance, during the winter spell we're having, I'm doing virtual spin classes. LOL

I am training for an ultra endurance cycle race, and I haven't changed my style of eating for it. I'm solidly fat adapted and that will see me through. Also, my reasoning is, that if I start taking carbs on the ride, I won't be able to get back to ketosis so easily and I too will be on a constant hunt to carb up to fuel my…

This. I have the same health issues, and cheating involves just too much hard work for me after the cheating has ended, so to speak.

I think there is a lot of unconscious conditioning going on in the reporting of keto flu. I didn't notice it much, but I wasn't warned I would get it, so I wasn't focusing on it either.
-
No refeed for me. I do ultra endurance, so I want to stay fat adapted, worked hard at getting there and am not putting that in jeopardy. I don't believe in the reboot qualities if it can also put you on the path of a major carb creep. I am highly insulin resistant, so it would have the potential of putting me in a worse…

Excuse me for saying this, but diet will have a bigger influence on your weight. Of course, getting more active can boost your sense of wellbeing and make you generally healthier. But diet will be the main element in losing weight, not exercise.

https://vimeo.com/167337005 Things that really motivate me: the fact that this year the route is so fascinating, with a beautiful Alpine climb (Monte Grappa), cycling through Central Europe, the amazing Transfagarasan Highway and of course finishing at Meteora https://vimeo.com/15431266 and https://vimeo.com/87380900 It is…

I totally agree with the advantage I might have. But I'm also a rookie and have no long race experience (done 1000 km audaxes, but that's no comparison). Greatest key to even making it to the start: not get injured in the training stage.

It's the European equivalent of Race Across America (RAAM) only unsupported. Grin.
-
Haha. Two thoughts immediately after receiving confirmation 1. Hurrah! Cool! 2. Oh no, what have I done? Anyway, the weather is beastly in Europe, so I'm doing mostly virtual spinning at the moment. On to route planning

eat fat. super calorie dense.

health, in my case. I was premature/underweight at birth, so I got the insulin resistance and pre-diabetes gratis. Keto is the only way for me to keep that in check without medication. I've also lost weight and started ultra endurance cycling. And yes, CICO absolutely rules, and for me, on keto, that's now far easier to…

I've been eating to a keto pattern for 18 months now.

Ghee

I do, but sparingly.
