I normally shred green cabbage and saute with sliced onion and different seasonings. Top with grilled chicken or ground beef and you've got a very quick, simple, healthy meal.

You might want to try a Whole30 to help you determine the cause of your stomach issues.

It's a grain. I eat mostly grain-free and do not include corn in my everyday diet.
-
So true! It may also vary for you from workout to workout, depending on what you're doing and the intensity. For example, yoga when fasted is no problem, but I need fuel before and after a long run or good strength training session.

Pants are really annoying to run in; I wear leggings/running tights instead (when I'm not wearing shorts). I was pretty shy about wearing them at first but they are so much more comfortable for running that I quickly stopped caring what anyone else thought.

I'm at the point where working out is "natural and easy"--in fact I love it and kind of hate rest days now--but have a ways to go until eating paleo feels the same, I suspect. My biggest challenge is keeping my menu 1) paleo or primal, 2) affordable, and 3) interesting. I can very easily hit one or two of those criteria,…

Macadamia nuts and coconut flakes are nice additions.

I'm not sure what kind of restrictions you have from your surgery, but generally adding more healthy fats is the easiest way to boost calories without adding a lot of volume. Drizzle some olive oil on your steamed veggies. Cook your eggs in coconut oil. Switch from turkey bacon to the real deal. If you're buying processed…

Your deficit is quite aggressive, which is why you're losing weight so quickly. A more moderate deficit (say, TDEE - 10%, or even TDEE - 20%) should help slow down your weight loss to a reasonable pace and hopefully that will even out your mood.
-
If you're only eating 1100 cals per day and exercising on top of that, you will run yourself down pretty quickly. You can easily add more calories to your day without much volume by including more healthy fats in your diet. Hard boiled eggs and beef jerky are great snacks when you need more protein.

SPIbelts are amazing! I had major doubts until I tried one myself. http://www.spibelt.com/products/spibelt

I would cut back on carbs and up your fat and protein. You might also need to up the calories a bit to accommodate your lifting program. I noticed you don't log your water--do you stay hydrated throughout the day?

I pretty much just use raw honey, maple syrup, or dates when I'm making treats. I don't use sweeteners in my day-to-day cooking.

I went paleo June 1 thinking I would just try it for a month. My boyfriend and I both loved it so much we're sticking to it, though we have added some dairy back in (small amounts of yogurt and cheese). It's always nice to have new paleo/primal buddies, feel free to add me! My diary is open.

By definition, a muffin top is fat spilling over the waistband. If that's not your problem, disregard my advice.
-
That's certainly your prerogative, but even as you lose body fat or reach your goal, you will likely have a muffin top unless your garments fit properly. Also, you don't necessarily have to go up a size to get rid of the muffin top (though in my experience that is often the culprit). As another poster mentioned you may…

Muffin top is caused by wearing pants/shorts/whatever that are too tight. Go up a size or try a different fit/cut.

Paleo is likely a very dramatic shift from how you used to eat; for now I would focus on eating Paleo and counting calories. Once you have the hang of that, then maybe experiment with keto if you want.
-
Paleo isn't necessarily low carb. You're going to have to cut way back on the fruit to keep carbs low enough to go into ketosis.
-
You could do a lot better...but you could also do a lot worse. I ate them frequently when I first started losing weight; they were very convenient and I loved the built-in portion control. Eventually I got tired of them and realized I could make them myself with better ingredients and more nutrients.

Sounds to me like a case of too much, too soon. That's quite a long run at a good pace for your first attempt at running! Start slower than you think you should and gradually add time/distance. Even if your cardio-vascular system feels good to go, the rest of your body will need time to adapt to the impact and stresses of…

Pretty cool, but for a low-cost alternative, you can just use a julienne peeler for spaghetti-like zoodles or a regular peeler for a wider zoodle.
-
What are you missing? Fat! Your body needs dietary fat to run properly. Eat whole eggs. Make a salad dressing with olive oil. Get the full-fat Greek yogurt. Don't shy away from fat! It will boost your calories up to a more normal level and make you feel much better.
-
Paleo isn't necessarily meat-heavy. Actually I probably eat about the same amount of meat as before--I more or less just replaced grains with more veggies and fats.
-
This! Order a nice scotch and savor it. On the other hand, if you're just looking to get drunk on the fewest calories, go with vodka soda.

There really is no way of knowing what kind of runner somebody is just by looking at their body type. I'm reminded of this at every race I do, as there are always heavier people who run faster than me, and lighter people who run slower. Just put in the training now and you'll have a great time on race day!
-
You've got plenty of time to train for a 10k, especially if you stick to a program. I highly recommend doing most of your training runs outdoors--running on the road is much different than running on a treadmill. At a minimum I would do 1 run per week outdoors. You might feel safer running in your neighborhood at a…

My last 2 pairs have been Mizuno and they were quite good. This time around I decided to buy 2 different shoes at once; one is Saucony and one is Newton. They're both great! My boyfriend is in love with his new Brooks; he used to wear Saucony. Both of us went to specialty running stores to have our gait analyzed and our…
