  • I certainly wouldn't consider myself a serious cook, though I do enjoy cooking and expanding my cooking knowledge. I like to try at least one new recipe each week. Living a healthy lifestyle is what got me in the kitchen in the first place. At the time I was eating a lot of Lean Cuisines and the like, and I was always…
  • I like my Feetures and Balegas. I was initially impressed by my Thorlos but I shrank them somehow and now they're awful.
  • Kerrygold butter
  • Wear the bikini! As others have said, spray tan may help conceal your stretch marks in the short term. In the long term, learn to love (or at least accept) them! They will fade with time, but you will likely never get rid of them completely.
  • For pasta, I use zucchini, yellow squash, and sometimes carrots. Use a julienne peeler if you want spaghetti-like zoodles, or a regular peeler to make wider strips for lasagne or fettucini depending on the size of your squash. My boyfriend now prefers zoodles to traditional pasta. I have baked or pan-fried fish with a…
  • My solution is simple: don't get bored! Play a game, clean your house, knit a sweater, go for a walk, etc.
  • They're fine, but it sounds like you would feel more comfortable in something else.
  • I tmade this sauce for dinner last night to serve over a pork & veggie stir fry with zucchini noodles. (original recipe here: http://cupcakesomg.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-most-delicious-meal-ive-ever-made.html) Trader Joes - Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, 1 T White House - Apple Cider Vinegar All Natural, 0.33 Tbsp Trader…
  • I don't have any food sensitivities or allergies, so I don't worry too much about being strict paleo when dining out--a little canola oil, grain, soy or even sugar isn't going to ruin me if it sneaks onto my plate. I do avoid items with these foods in the descriptions but I'm also not shy about asking for substitutions or…
  • I don't know enough about you to say if 2500 is too much; for me, to lose weight, with my current exercise routine, it would be too much. For some it might not be enough. If you want to cut the calories down, ditch the butter and cut back on the bacon. You have plenty of other good fat sources there.
  • Dietary fat is not the enemy. Eat the chicken skin. Roast your veggies with plenty of oil. Snack on nuts. Don't discard egg yolks.
  • beef jerky smoked salmon tuna hard-boiled eggs green olives deli meat
  • Tonight I'm having baked spinach and tomato chicken from here: http://www.mykitchenescapades.com/2012/10/spinach-and-tomato-chicken.html 10 ounce bag of baby spinach 3 Tb chicken broth 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts salt and pepper garlic powder onion powder italian seasoning 1 large tomato, cut into large chunks 5…
  • Olive oil -- drizzle on salads or cooked veggies. Avocado is great just about anywhere -- slice it and eat with your eggs, dice it and put it on your protein, mash it up and use as a dip for raw veggies. I use butter or coconut oil for sauteeing, pan-frying, etc. A couple days ago I made a great Pad Thai-inspired sauce…
  • That's excellent! Did you stick to a certain macro ratio or just focus on eating Whole30-compliant foods?
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch is a great resource for choosing "ocean-friendly" seafood. http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/sfw_recommendations.aspx I like to bread fish (tilapia, sole, halibut, etc) in a mixture of almond meal, dried herbs, and salt and pepper and then bake it.

  • Walk or run outside; it's free. For exercising in the home, there are a lot of great free workout videos on YouTube, and many use no or minimal equipment. I like Fitness Blender.
  • I would consider decreasing carbs and increasing fat for better satiety.
  • I had 2 chicken breakfast sausages and 3 eggs scrambled in 1/2 T butter. Washed it all down with 2 cups of black coffee.
  • A cheap one will be a pain. My first food scale was this little plastic analog thing and I hated using it. I recently upgraded to a digital scale and I'm in love! It's very easy to use and I'm kicking myself for not buying one much, much sooner.
  • Baked sweet potato. Carrots. Fruit (with a little raw honey if you want).
  • The dressings are in 12 oz bottles--I don't know why they don't include that in the product descriptions but you can see it in the photo of the ingredients/nutrition label.
  • I would commit to a Whole30 or something similar to get back in the groove.
  • Keep building your base for now--the speed will come later. My 5k times got better as I started logging more miles training for a 10k. Most sources I've seen don't recommend speedwork until after 6 months or so of steady running. I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but being impatient with this is a good way…
  • OMG I should have waited until after my 21DSD is over to ask this question. Trying not to drool on my keyboard now...
  • That Whole Foods cake looks amazing! I wonder if it would work with honey instead of sugar.
  • Don't wait to start strength training. You will achieve the look you're after faster if you start lifting weights now. Personally I like to do circuit training. Cycling or spinning is a great way to get an intense cardio workout without all the impact of running. If you have access to a pool, swimming laps is another…
  • I bought the program manual and started on July 1 and like it so far. June was my first month on paleo and I overdid it on fruit and paleo treats with honey. I plan to stretch it out to 31 days, but that's only because I have a few planned cheats this month.
  • I just went paleo in June so am still quite new to this way of eating. I track to make sure 1) I'm getting enough calories each day, 2) I'm not eating too many nuts and seeds, and 3) my carbs are reasonable. I hope to eventually be comfortable/familiar enough with this diet to stop tracking.
  • I have been pretty strict paleo since June 1 (with a few planned cheats, generally booze). Once I get more comfortable eating this way I do plan to relax to about 85/15 to sustain this way of eating in the long term. Have you thought about trying that? Maybe if you planned a few non-paleo meals in your week, you wouldn't…
