  • it can be a couple of things- your sneakers, lack of water, lack of proper stretching,..... evaluate your sneakers. if you're running 3x a week you may need to just get a really good pair and find out what kind of feet you have. also check your running stance. sometimes wearing 2 pairs of socks helps me for some extra…
  • some runners can be jerks but most runners are fun, encouraging, and will respect you for going out there and finishing! there is no shame in walking during a race. the jerky runners i speak of are ones I have encountered who will literally push you out of the way to get in front of you, litter (ugh, at least TRY to throw…
  • hey, my sole motivation at first was so i could look awesome in a wedding dress! (and i did!) but overtime, i realized that was just a cool bonus. it became to get healthier and stronger! but yes, i do workout a lot to continue to look good :) you look good, you feel good. its just a fact. your reasons may change overtime…
  • not sure how else a gym would charge you monthly if it didn't come from a debit or credit card they have on file? never have heard of someone going in and paying with cash each month, how annoying/inconvenient that would be for me! i have enough bills, i like that my gym has my debit card on file. my gym takes it from my…
  • get an HRM. I use mine when I do strength and weights. i think it works perfectly for me.
  • when I was thinner, i wasn't healthy. i didn't workout, i ate so-so, and i drank a lot. i didn't take care of myself so regardless of my weight, something was always off anyway. i ended up gaining so much weight from this and my HW was around 215-220. i lost 60 pounds for my wedding and got down to 148. i was definitely…
  • a lot of people just do straight up lifting and get great results but i find these people also eat VERY clean. i love using weights but i love eating pizza more lol so i also do cardio (running!) and HIIT and classes at my gym that incorporate both weights and cardio. I also go to a small gym that is very limited with…
  • loved this!!! yes to cookies!!!!! i have a nice toblerone waiting for me after dinner myself  you CAN lose weight and reach goals while practicing moderation!!!! keep at it you look amazing - strong and healthy and fit.
  • this. get a friend involved so you have a buddy. you gotta keep at it and eventually it will become routine. you may find yourself missing your workouts on rest days like I do.
  • well they are not going anywhere. EMBRACE THEM!!! especially the ones you get when you lose weight. i believe you can use cocoa butter or something like that to fade them, i myself use jergens (or generic target brand) tanning lotion and that helps a bit. everyone has stretch marks. they are not bad. they show strength. i…
  • STOP comparing yourself to others. Become the best version YOUR body can be not some random photo of flat abs. when you stop comparing, you will feel much better about yourself and see how strong you can become and what your body is capable of. i'm no expert. but i know when i stop comparing my bodies to other bodies, my…
  • crossing the finish line of my first half marathon was surreal. crossing the finish line at my second one was even better - beat my time. now i look at my two medals with pride :) all these are true though!!!!
  • HIIT is great! sometimes my gym offers a 45 minute HIIT class and I really enjoy it. burn a lot and continue burning calories afterwards. helps me see results. nothing wrong with traditional cardio though - do what YOU love exercise-wise but change it up so your body doesn't get bored I'm no expert but I've been working…
  • absolutely nothing wrong with walking during a 5k or other distance race. thats intervals and that helps burn fat anyway! have you trained for this 5k? HYDRATE! eat well and be dressed for the weather.
  • I loooooooove my wedding photos, here are two of my favorites :)
  • I have my 2nd half marathon this Sunday and I am all for carb-loading. the day before I eat relatively healthy (and the days leading up to it) and gradually increase my intake. last time for dinner beforehand I made sure to have a good carb filled meal then the morning of the race, i had two bananas and toast w peanut…
  • this! I am a "slow" runner - my pace can go anywhere from 9:50 to 12:30, just depends on the circumstances. no matter how slow you go you're still beating everyone on the couch. I've found when I stick to shorter distances (5k) I get faster but when I run for distance (I am training for my 2nd half marathon) I tend to slow…
  • ^^^^^ this! stick with your HRM. I go to zumba once a week usually and they claim you can burn 600-1000 per hour.. false. I burn around 300-350 in a good class (45 minutes). I burn the most when I run to be honest. everyone is different. I think too many people depend on the numbers MFP gives them but they are WAY off...…
  • THIS. ALL THIS. I personally LOVE breakfast. I would eat breakfast foods at lunch and dinner everyday if I could (and sometimes, I do). So I eat breakfast every single morning and still get that mid-morning hunger, so I eat a good snack. I eat my lunch later, like 1:30-2:30 at work but then am usually okay until dinner…
  • It is YOUR wedding day and YOUR wedding so go with what feels right to you! I don't think you will regret it - the wedding day is about the MARRIAGE not the reception. I had a "traditional wedding" - bridesmaids, white dress, big reception (we invited 185... 130-135 came), the whole hoopla. And I loved every minute of it.…
  • my gym just started a tabata class every Monday night, they've had 3x so far and I love it! Great workout with the intervals & the instructor switches it up each class. I do that along with zumbs classes, some running, kickboxing, and random other exercises. I definitely recommend tabata
  • "Where We Belong" by Emily Giffin.. it doesn't even come out until July 24 or something but I won a free advanced copy through Goodreads! Really liking it so far :)

  • I like this group! let's hope I remember about it... thats my issue, I forget about forums and groups and rarely check them. Anyway - 24 lost 60 pounds - started this journey end of Dec 2010. Reached my goal of 150 in Dec 2011 and it's been a sloooooooow road into the 140s. Resting pretty comfortable at 148! Maintaining…
  • AMAZING PROGRESS!!!!!!!!
  • polar ft4 is what I recently bought - bit expensive $90 but you can definitely get them cheaper. it is the most helpful tool ever - i found I was over estimating and underestimating calories burned and I wonder if this is why my weight loss slowed once I hit 150 pounds. I've used it every single day since I got it except…
  • I just want to say thank you to everyones support on here - both for my weight loss and for the moderators removing my after photos. The support is really overwhelming!!! So here are some *ahem* more appropriate afters, these are pictures where you can really see my change! March 2012 St. Patrick's Day 2012 End of March…
  • Angela - 24! 1. I don't have a lot of friends IRL but I sometimes prefer this bc the friends I do have are fabulous 2. I love Irish names. But I am not Irish at all 3. I love Disney 4. I've met 2 out of 7 of the main characters from Saved by the Bell (Mr. Belding, Zack Morris!). Its a goal of mine to meet the rest of them…
  • love old navy jeans.I like the skinny jeans but they have flare/boot-cut too. They have a couple different rises so try the Sweetheart ones, they are a higher fit (but not so high) but they still look great
