  • Patience and staying on track. I read so much motivational stuff that when you work hard, the results are sure to come, but it's hard to believe when you're stuck in a plateau.
  • I assume you are not out of control (if so, you'd need psychiatric help), you just make choices at times that you are not happy with at other times. It's absolutely good to love food, as it keeps us alive. :) However, fat sugar and salt act addictively, which can make us crave more of them that we need. It's however not…
  • (So sorry for double-posting, my net is going crazy today. :( )
  • Plateaus will pass. Period. My latest one was broken by the combination of off-diet Easter (but not eat-whatever-you-see), a week sick, an off-diet trip abroad (how do I count the calories when eating out?) and then getting back on track. However, I don't think there's one simple formula to break them. Don't give up and…
  • I think sometimes, you should guide your body and sometimes, you should let your body guide you. Now, knowing when which is suitable is great wisdom. In your case, I think your body is mistrained to undereating and you should guide it towards receiving more nutrients. On the other hand, always listen to it, don't be a…
  • It's a very nice and long response but it has nothing to do with the thread's author question nor the points I raised. I'm happy you found what works for you, but that's not a reason to be condescending to others.
  • I believe the brain, as any muscle (JOKE HERE!), needs some kind of energy to run. That energy is measured in calories. But I might be wrong, the brain might run on love and sunshine.
  • It is jerky, very jerky ad unhelpful. "You eat weight watcher food 'cos it's "convenient" no I'm sorry but thats called being lazy." - she just had a couple this week. If you wanna be harsh with the truth, stick to the truth yourself. "You need to sort out your issues with food." - isn't she working on that already? She's…
  • Think not just calories, but nutrients. Read up a bit about what the body needs fats and proteins and other stuff for. Sure you can drink sweet soda and get loads of calories but I don't think that's the point. Below are my suggestions (but I'm no dietitian): Have veggies for the vitamins and minerals, with an olive oil…
  • I was so proud or my daily 2g of sugar and looked at my Nestle Fintess bar: they have 6g, not 1 as in the database. :(
  • Absolutely! :) See http://www.onemorebite-weightloss.com/images/fat-v-muscle.jpg , you can be losing fat and gaining muscle and muscles are smaller for the same mass. Keep up the good work! ;)
  • Interesting how all people who have been through depression (or seen it closely) emphasise the need for professional treatment and those who don't know much about it speak about "chosing love". I used to be on the "chose love" squad. Life showed me how wrong I was.
  • I'm very happy with my simple Puma sneakers (these to be precise: http://www.amazon.com/Womens-Lanai-Fashion-Sneaker-Purple/dp/B0055XDNQA/ref=sr_1_26?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1362250305&sr=1-26&keywords=puma). I just added colorful shoelaces. ;) Zumba may involve a lot of jumping, so think more aerobics shoes than dance shoes.
  • This is DANGEROUS: I'm talking level pro-ana dangerous. Suicide promoting dangerous. (As such, I've reported it.) Depression is an ILLNESS that KILLS. It's not about not chosing love, it's about problems in the chemistry of the brain that make it impossible for you to "choose love". Now if you tell people suffering from…
  • This book hepled me (and not just me) immensely: D. Burns, "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" http://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-Mood-Therapy-ebook/dp/B009UW5X4C/ref=tmm_kin_title_0 Plus, it's cheap, so there's no excuse not to get it. ;) I already nagged you about exercise in another thread. ;) Seriuosly, check out the…
  • Wow, you're shrinking from picture to picture! Great job and thanks for sharing! :)
  • Thank you for sharing, I was just wondering about this. The most suspicious to me is how come it's magically at 1200 kcal for everybody, when all the other weight and weight loss parameters vary so much depending on gender, age, current weight ant many others.
  • The meds may make it harder, unfortunately. It's not an excuse, but a difficulty that one should be aware of. The good thing is that physical activity (especially outside, in the sunshine) helps immensely with depression and anxiety and stuff like that. I know the more I move, the better I feel and the better I feel, the…
  • Congratulations on your wedding and good luck on your journey! :)
  • This article is excellent: http://syattfitness.com/fat-loss/the-dieters-dilemma-how-to-stay-full-in-a-caloric-deficit
  • Amazing job! Congratulations!
  • Mine is 1330. It's hard to keep BUT if you work out, the calories you burn are substracted from what you ate. So go for a walk or exercise and you get a couple hundred more calories. ;) It really motivates me to move.
  • Fiona Apple had orthorexia. She talks about it in this interview: http://www.neverisapromise.com/interviews/RSJan98.html Quoting: She had strange eating habits. "It was colors," she explains. "I couldn't eat things that looked a certain way, that were a certain color. I mean, there was a time when I couldn't eat things…
