I have a desk that converts to a stand up position. Still at a desk, but at least I'm not just sitting.

I know people that have severe reactions to artificial sweeteners (headache, digestive problems, etc). My feeling is that it is an artificial chemical you are ingesting, so avoid it. Just eat natural foods.

If all you are looking at is weight loss, you may be correct, they will lose roughly the same weight. If you want to talk about nutrition and long term health, the guy with the doughnut will not do as well. I am concerned with health, not just weight loss. Stay away from processed foods.

Get a stand up work station so you are not sitting all day: it is terrible for you.

You're off to a great start. The most the human body can process off fat is 1-2 pounds per week. 16 lbs. in 8 weeks is fantastic. Keep doing whatever it is that you're doing. One of the hardest things for me was to understand that it is a lifestyle change: a journey not a sprint. None of us that put on weight did it fast,…

You lose fat in about the opposite way you put it on, location and quantity. Sorry, that is biology.

Could be the coloring in the soda.

Almost anything from a chain restaurant is going to be high sodium, so I avoid them whenever possible. Even in family owned restaurants, soups are typically very high in sodium. I went low sodium years ago, so when I eat someplace that over salts, I can't get past the salty flavor. Make you food taste better by using…

This might help you: http://www.digifit.com/heartratezones/training-zones.asp?MaxHR=175&Age=52&RHR=60 lighter intensity workouts (most say zone 2) are the "fat burning" ones. If you are in a higher zone, you are consuming calories faster than the fat can release it, so you body goes to other sources.

You're kicking butt, great job.

Eating a carb rich breakfast will spike your insulin levels and result in triggering hunger just a couple of hours later. Try just eggs or some other higher protein breakfast.

Congratulations.

Stay away from packaged and prepared foods, and you'll be a long way to getting balanced nutrition.

when I'm under cal count, I go to bed looking forward to seeing a smaller number on the scale the next day. Don't eat just because you had a low cal day.

I wish you the best in your quest. Keep in mind that most people that have long term weight loss goals are typically able to lost 0.5 to 1.0 lbs per week. When I come off plateaus, that is typically what I experience. I just don't want you to get discouraged if the loss rate is not what you hoped. Keep at it, change…

My gym prohibits the use of Mobile phones in the working area (listening to music is ok), and can revoke your membership for taking photos of people working out or in the locker room. Simply don't do it, either option is creepy.

Tropical Syracuse. NY. Otherwise known as Syberacuse, at least this time of year.

The gym I go to doesn't allow cell phone use in the workout areas and taking a photo in the locker room can get your membership suspended. Tell those girls to put the phone away when in an area where people are changing cloths.

I make myself go to the gym and do weight training. Don't necessarily enjoy it, but I like the results. I enjoy yoga: at the end I feel a nice combination of stretched and relaxed. The exercises I enjoy most are things that are actual activities, such as bicycling, kayaking, and hiking. You get the exercise, but enjoy it…

IMHO, light beer is the wrong route to take. It is flavorless and bodiless. Find a good, flavor-full craft beer, then you can really enjoy one beer. Light beers are designed to be consumed in large quantities, it is all marketing.

Tell them they are rude (they are), and walk away. If you didn't ask their opinion, then you don't have to take their rudeness. It is not intended to motivate you, it is intended to make them feel better about themselves at your expense.

I would strongly suggest a trainer to get you started. If that is not possible, find a friend that lifts and ask to join them for a workout.
-
Good attitude, just stick with it.

I workout with a personal trainer every week, and then go in on my own 2-3 additional times per week. The trainer will help him with exercises and proper technique. It is a process, muscles take time to grow. It will be worth it in the end.

Just think of it as poison. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/GettingHealthy/NutritionCenter/HealthyEating/Added-Sugars-Add-to-Your-Risk-of-Dying-from-Heart-Disease_UCM_460319_Article.jsp#

Don't think of the chips (or other cravings) as tasty food you desire, think of it as a toxin that is degrading your health. Can change the though to "why would I want to eat that". It has worked for me for a number of items, including anything with trans-fat or high fructose corn syrup. Read the label.

Daily. My personal trainer also recommends it daily. How else to you create the association of what and how much you eat and exercise with whether it results in weight gain or loss. Weighing in once a month is like driving your car only looking in the rear view mirror.

Not getting enough sleep is also working against you: http://www.forbes.com/sites/travisbradberry/2014/12/01/skipping-sleep-is-career-suicide/2/ I find that I need to get my exercise right after work, if I head home and get into the evening routine, it is harder to break free and do it. Go to bed earlier.

Tell them it is a gimmick and then wish them luck.

If you mean Thanksgiving dinne: Not counting calories today. Just enjoy your meal.
