So I just started counting calories and I cannot find the right combination of foods. I am all over the place on to many calories or to much fat intake or to many carbs or sugar or cholesterol. Anyone have exampls that work?

Barring any medical issues you need to speak with your doctor about, you can be over on anything and be okay. A calorie deficit is all you need to lose weight and lots of people view mfp's fat and protein numbers as minimums.

You can try this if you need some ideas.

Stay away from packaged and prepared foods, and you'll be a long way to getting balanced nutrition.

Focus on getting the calories right first, then see if you can hit your macro goals. A lot of people have their food diaries public, so that might be a place to start. Also, as you keep going, you might find that the MFP default goals for carbs/fat/protein don't line up with your needs or preferences, so it's okay to take those with a grain of salt right now.
