  • I'm 5ft 9 and currently weighing 160lbs. My 'usual' weight is 140lbs and at that weight I wear jeans in a size 12 (UK) size 10 (US). Interestingly, I can still actually fit into those jeans sizes at this heavier weight, but they look AWFUL! Looks like 140 is a nice 'slim' weight for those of us around 5ft 8... It's so rare…
  • You look great! I am about your height and starting weight so your pics are a real motivation - thanks for posting! x
  • Great thread!! I was 140 lbs up until about 2 years ago, then a back injury stopped me running 5 times a week and I've been too easy on myself as far as snacks etc go. Result: been putting on a pound or so every month since and am now 160lbs. Still within my healthy BMI, but only just .. And guess what, I carry almost all…
  • Thanks - great link. I think you're right - I've noticed this pattern previously. OK for about 3/4 days then will power disappears (particularly in the evenings) and I gobble back the deficit of the previos few days. I've read that it's really tough if you're trying to get from the top end of your healthy bmi to the middle…
  • Well for me any kind of alcohol is a no no when I'm dieting. It's not just the calories in the drink itself, but it also messes up my blood sugar and appetite control and turns me into a carb-craving monster! In the summer of 2008 I made no other changes to be diet other than giving up booze and I lost 10lbs!
  • I agree - take it as a motivational impulse. Although that was a horribly rude thing to say, an incident like that can make a real emotional impact which, in turn, can sometimes increase motivation and make it easier to stick to your weight loss and exercise goals.
  • Awesome - what an achievement !! Thanks for sharing ...
  • Thanks guys, Well, I went and did some! 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer (pyramid course, level 5 resistence), 15 minutes light weights, 10 minutes walking on the treadmill, 5 minutes stretch and cool down. Calories burnt - 250. I did start coughing a few times when I was on the elliptical trainer and got some funny…
  • Awesome!! I am 5ft 9 and now 160lbs up 20lbs from my usual 140, so in kind of the same range as you were originally. Thanks for the inspiration! x
  • I agree with that actually - I find setting exercise goals much more successful than calorie/ weight goals. I know when I was running a 40 minute 5k 3 times a week, and not regularly drinking wine and milky lattes, I didn't have much difficulty maintaing my weight at 10 stone (I'm 5ft 9). Since I stopped running and…
