  • Still trying to figure out "maintenance" after a 35 pound weight loss last August. 60 years old and hypothyroid. BMR is about 1100 and TDEE is about 1300. I plan on logging my food every day until I die, and using a Fitbit/heart rate monitor ditto. Weight so far has varied nicely in the 1-3 pound range. I had some…
  • Thanks. You just saved me $10. I agree with you on the S'mores. It seems the peanut butter leaves an aftertaste. The almond butter (at least the brownie batter flavor) seems far superior. Would love it if you could sample the salted caramel and banana flavors too!
  • Mix of Nutribiotic rice protein, NOW pea protein, Manitoba 70 hemp protein. All four flavors of D's Naturals vegan protein bars.
  • 1) How many calories do you eat? I'm beginning maintenance so 1200-1400 a day. 2) What kind of vegan are you? (HCLF, Fruitarian, etc.) Total vegan, relatively low carb (40-80% net carbs). 3) How much weight have you lost and other benefits you have discovered? 35 pounds. Goodbye arthritis. Goodbye colds (knock wood and…
  • Every day for nine years. Kept me away from hip surgery, helped me lose 34 pounds for the last time.
  • I just had surgery for detachment today (in-office with bubble). I do a lot of Nordic walking with poles. Has anyone else who does pole walking had the same experience who could give me an idea when to resume exercise?
  • Yeah it's a real shame their customer service/tech support is so bad, because the product has really been a good motivational tool for me and helped me lose 31 pounds. My exercise has really increased since I got it. Too bad it is not the best tool for Nordic pole walking. Heart rate on the Charge HR has been less than on…
  • I'm 60 years old, 5'0, currently at 97 pounds from 126. I have one pound to go to round out a 30 pound goal (maintenance range 96-100). I am hypothyroid and my BMR is only about 960. I've been using Fitbit for TDEE - 25% and average around 900-1000 calories. I have no idea what my actual maintenance TDEE will be, probably…
  • Yeah. No bread, desserts, high carb fruits (I miss bananas), no added sugar. Tonight I'm scraping the stuff off a pizza and mixing it with salad. Worked like a charm for 26 pounds so far.
  • What she said. Protein, veggies. No lovely vegan desserts.
  • I third being assertive about your TSH. Once you get to your goal weight, do not under any circumstances let them lower your medication dose unless Whatever forbid you develop an arrhythmia or something. Also the protein. Also because you are hypothyroid you are ALWAYS "sedentary" due to reduced metabolism.

  • There's three issues here. The first is unfortunately the fact that carbs are addictive. They're not purely physiologically addictive like alcohol, but they are emotionally and trigger the reward center in the brain. You have to say goodbye to lots of carbs until you reach your goal weight, at least. Since you know that…
  • Fabulous. I'm a (relatively) low carb vegan. The peanut butter chocolate chip and raspberry truffle are the best. The consistency takes a while to get used to but they helped me lose 23 pounds so far. The chocolate batter fluffbutter is to die for--it does taste like cake batter--, but the vanilla flavor doesn't excite me.
  • Hi I'm 60 and hypothyroid. Gave up sugar, lost 20 pounds on high protein relatively low carb vegan diet, five more to go. You can do it!
  • Vegan for 7 years. Never felt better. Now on relatively low carb high protein version.

  • I take a multivitamin and calcium citrate supplement and 5000 IU vegan D3 3 x week. Upping calories just makes me gain weight. Leaving things alone just well, leaves things alone, I apparently have to (a) go to BMR or below and/or (b) keep net carbs below 50 to even lose just 5 pounds. Very sad. It could be a lot worse,…
  • Height is five feet.
  • I'm a vegan, is that OK? I'd love to be friends!
  • Hi guys! I wish I could help but I need support too! I have been hypothyroid for about 20 years. In that time I have gone from 142-95 pounds, gained back to 132, lost to 104. In the last six months I have gained 10 pounds from my new "ideal" of 105. I have been doing the same amount of exercise, Nordic pole walking 1 hour…
