Yes, it does appear to be a game changer! Already the "permanent bags" under my eyes are starting to go down and I don't feel that sand-under-my-eyelids exhaustion feeling any more. I can only guess that I will continue to feel better as my body heals from chronic sleep deprivation. Funny thing is that the sleep survey…

Thank you for your 20 years out perspective. It makes me feel claustrophobic, but I guess that's something to just get over. I am at my heaviest weight ever right now and know that losing it may help (or not -- but it's still otherwise healthful). My DDS is an airway specialist and has identified some structural problems…

Well aren't you funny? 😂😂😂

Did it just get bigger?

Easier than what?

Wow, is it that many?

Wouldn't it though?

Would you prefer me to?

Found out that I had severe sleep apnea (53 apnea events per hour). Freaked out. Got my CPAP. Freaked out some more. I've worn it for a week now every night, the whole night, even while freaking out about it. Now I have slept just enough to log back in here and start using the food diary. You know when they say that if you…

Isn't this answer already out of date by now?

How could I know?

I'm late to the party, as it's already the 7th of melting March! Great theme though as I had stalled out a bit towards the end of February but am now back to melting in March. My phone does not support these boards, so I don't end up here as often as I'd like, but it sure has been nice to read up on what everyone's been up…

Morning all! I am getting on the road too for two days. See y'all Friday.

So glad you enjoyed tai chi. I also get a case of the "perfects" up in my head. I try to just remember to focus on process, not results. (Plus, I prefer there to be no mirror around when I work out once my form is acceptable, that way I can visualize myself as that beautiful gazzelle.)

Lisa: You bring up a really great point here. My taste buds have changed as well. What used to be a "normal" amount of salad dressing now drowns out the beautiful fresh flavors of my vegetables. And Dr. F really brings this point home too. That we need to give our taste preferences time to adjust -- because they will…

Wowee!!! Way to go!

Since we can't search for other groups right now on MFP, what are some of everyone's other favorite groups? Any good yoga, vegan, vegetarian, grain- or fat-free, 5:2 fasting groups out there? I noticed on the main boards, that some people are putting links in their posts when they recommend a MFP group. . . Which makes me…

Mihani: Tai Chi? oh how wonderful. I am sure it will help. Please report back as you explore this. My back feels so much better today. I laid on a large frozen gel pack off and on through out the day. Why don't I think of this sooner? :) It always occurs to me well into the stiffness. I got it on Amazon after a reference…

We be soul sisters in the kitchen! This is a great explanation of how I love to eat. When I do eat meat, or dairy, or eggs, I preferably like to either look it in the eye beforehand (my hubs will hunt and fish for me & I have a friend with backyard chickens) or get to know the person who looks it in the eye (which I find…

I did! Thank you! And the next day too. But today I think I did too much yoga twisting over the week and am laying on ice just to be safe. I am already thinking of substitutions in class when my twisting quota has been reached. And I am on the ETL mailing list. I'll check this out and see which one it is. Thanks for the…

Why didn't I think of this?! It's a great idea and I have a freezer full of venison. Next time I haul out the meat grinder, I'm going to do this!

We all follow ETL to varying degrees. So if you have strong feelings about salt, and do not feel that you have any health issues that are worsened by this, then salt away. Reading Dr. F's books are great, but not necessary to get the gist of the program. Essentially, I see it as a lifestyle that focuses on whole food and…

Everyone deals with emotions differently. But there's always stuff to feel good about. Maybe you can start looking for the good stuff. When I get down, I start and finish each day with counting five good things. (And yes, "I am breathing right now" totally counts.) It's hokey, but it always lifts my spirits within a few…

Yikes! I didn't know housecleaning was so dangerous!!! That's it. No more for me! Hope you're already on the mend after a good night's sleep. Busy day in the office for me. I've got my focus set on getting enough done to slip out to a restorative yoga class starting at 4:30. Fingers crossed. (also need to remember…

My yoga retreat was fabulous! Not too expensive (we brought our own bedding, shared bathrooms and bunked in with a roommate), and I picked a place I could drive (Texas) to to save both time and money. For 2 1/2 days I ate some lovely spa quality vegan cuisine, attended yoga classes that really broke some poses down for…

I made it to yoga yesterday afternoon. It was a restorative class, which is really just a bunch of organized napping. I was feeling tweaky all day, so it was hard to settle in. But by the end, I started to feel some of the stress leave my body. Sloth: Dental surgery? Ouch! And my take on falling off the wagon is that the…

I was going to jump in with menu ideas, but everyone else has done such a nice job. I am not bored with ETL, but this thread makes me even more excited about eating this way. When I ate SAD, my cholesterol was near 300 with terrible ratios. There is heart disease and strokes on my dad's side of the family. Now my lipids…

Mihani: Boom. I just officially hit meno too. Never really knew since I had a hysteorecotmy many years ago, but my blood work shows it officially. So many symptoms are supposed to be triggered by stress, and my mom had a horrid time of it. So I tried to get proactive a few years a go and started some stress-reduction…
