Hi All! Food & Fitness February? I love it! My low back has been behaving with twice weekly yoga. I am going to a yoga and meditation retreat this weekend. Really really looking forward to it! For FitFeb, I'd like to add: (1) 2 more yoga classes per week, to bring me up to 4, and (2) day-hike once a week with my dearest…

Hi all! I am back and getting back into the swing of journaling. I expect to be lurking about while I recommit to my health and nutrition.

You're fine. As long as you are not obsessing over staying this way and are otherwise content. Your BMI is over 19. (According to WebMD, at 18.5 you would be considered underweight.) Sure you're thin, but as long as your eating habits are healthy, you're fine. People in general have just gotten used to "normal" looking so…

Can't get fat on vegetables unless you count potato chips! But seriously, as long as you stick to non-starchy veg, you be fine.

Excuse me, it's losen up! :)

So if I lose weight, I'll get loose pants?

In please!

Bump!

Yes, yes, yes! I cut the wheatgrass into about 1 inch slices to make it easier on the motor, but yes I have been enjoying wheatgrass lemonade all week: small handful of cut up wheatgrass, 2 whole lemons with rind and pith cut off, stevia sweetener and water! Put on the smoothie pre-set and enjoy. Kale works, Collard greens…

Bump-ity bump bump.

I think wheatgrass juice and vodka sounds healthy. I do not think it sounds delicious.

How about using MFP, but look at the message boards here for pregnancy support?
-
Yep, like 'em. Reminds me to put them on my grocery list to make tuna noodle casserole!

I am that person who takes workout clothes when traveling and then actually goes and works out at the hotel gym each morning.

Twinkies. Even thought they were gross when I was a kid. Oh and peeps. They seem stale on arrival.

Lots of people have responded here, and I enjoyed reading the thread yesterday. Today, my gym's online newsletter had an article on the subject. So for what it's worth, here's one more collection of ideas: http://www.lifetime-weightloss.com/blog/2012/3/17/6-reasons-youre-not-losing-body-fat.html

Thanks. It's on my to-read list now!

Gone Girl was creepy in a quiet, disturbing way. (and Gillian Flynn's 2 prior novels too)

This. Plus, remember that any doctor's advice is one person's professional opinion. For years I was told to just drink more water, eat more fiber/fruits/veg, try prune juice. It was frustrating, as I did follow the standard advice and nothing helped. Finally a GI doc discovered that I had a +90% blockage in my lower colon…

Oh, and my latest NSV. . . Tossing my big jeans in the send-back-to-the-thrift-store pile ('cause the next size down just slid on!!!).
-
Oh Oh OMG!!! I am a lifelong thrifter and have never heard of this. Just looked -- and YES -- there's one in my town! Looks like $1.39 per pound at my location. You have made my day for the next year and a half! (and PS: yes, this is a great strategy to have clothes that fit at every size.)

I just finished "Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End" by Manel Loureiro. If you like "Walking Dead," you'll love this. It's the best zombie book I've read in a long time. Here's a blurb from GoodReads.com: "A mysterious incident in Russia, a blip buried in the news—it’s the only warning humanity receives that…

Buying a fitbit pedometer broke my plateau. Partly, I think, 'cause it was a novel gadget, but also 'cause it really made me realize how little I move around during the day. Now I make my 10,000 steps almost all days, and 12-14k on many. Whether I go to the gym or not, this little bug reminds me to keep moving.

That is such a beautiful statement!

You can cook it in a liquid other than water (like beef or chicken broth). Add anything to it that you would to rice to make a pilaf. . . nuts, dried fruit, sauteed minced veggies, olives, capers, garlic, sesame seeds or toasted oil, etc. (oh yeah, butter if that works with your eating plan.) I treat it like a rice side…

Yes worth it! I opted to have mine in conjunction with a hysterectomy about 15 years ago. Hard to separate the the aftercare from 2 procedures, but yes I was sore, had a tube sticking out, and walked tenderly for a few weeks. They took all my excess belly skin and left a big scar (but really low and not viewable). In the…

In my journey lately, I have found this shocking true!

The site can be a bit glitchy, but try back and you'll be fine. As for calorie burn, if you're alive you burn calories and fitbit estimates that. I've had mine for about a month and love it. I makes me aware of movement the same way MFP makes me aware of intake.

There's always a wonderful exception to every rule! But it's better not to bet your life on exceptional examples. . . And, yes, you can eat anything now and then (as long as your now and then is only now and then).
