  • It Is a great tool for core strength and flexibility.
  • I ran a PR for the Cooper test today. 1.51 miles in 12 minutes.
  • The Mio Alpha is supposed to be EKG accurate. It only monitors heart rate, nothing fancier than that. You can track a workout with it and it will give you your average heart rate when you are finished. It will sync up via Bluetooth to a phone, but I haven't been able to link it to Endomondo. My phone isn't smart enough (it…
  • I started several years ago with a DVD by Budokon, which is yoga and martial arts. My wife had been doing yoga longer than that. My wife has several DVDs that we have used. Lately, I have been finding videos on Youtube. I have been trying to do yoga for about 15 minutes or so before going to bed and have found several…
  • Running. It is easy to judge others on whether they are a runner or not. I try not to get in this mindset. There are just different levels of runners. Some faster, some slower, all running.
  • I use Endomondo. It syncs with MFP. I like it quite a bit.
  • I really like the New Balance Minimus line.
  • I'm 5'11" and weigh about 230. My goal is to get down to 205 lbs. I was in between 200 and 205 about 3 years ago and felt like I was in pretty good shape. I will be getting my body fat % checked soon and I think I will have a better idea of my goals at that point. I don't like going by BMI, since at 205 I still would have…
  • Thanks. That was pretty good. Some of that isn't too far off.
  • I like the New Balance Minimus line, but I haven't tried much of anything else. I have a pair of Minimus running shoes that I love and have run quite a bit in. I also have a pair of Minimus trail running shoes that I have used a bit and ran an obstacle race in. I like both pair quite a bit and have been looking at buying…
  • My current training plan has me running 2 miles x 5 days a week. The rest of the training is body weight strength training.
  • I see that you said you run on a treadmill. Running outside might be a nice change. If that isn't possible you could try to switch up your treadmill workout. You could alternate paces, distances, or run intervals. Changing up your playlist could help as well if you listen to music while you run. I like to vary my route and…
  • You can just put deodorant on them as well.
  • Run For Your Lives is being continued by the group that puts on The Zombie Run. They have added it as another level of difficulty in their series. They also have a Black Ops race that is at night.
  • I work out whenever it's convenient. I figure the important thing is that I'm working out.
  • Something that is lightweight and will drain/dry easily would probably be good. I like the New Balance Minimus line. One of the trail shoes or running shoes would probably work for you. I wore a Minimus trail shoe at Hard Charge last year and it worked pretty well. You can find them for a decent price on discount sites if…
  • I'm no expert on shoes or running, but I would have to agree that a neutral shoe might be good for you. It may be that your body was used to running the way you do, and the shoes to try to correct this are hurting you by forcing you to run in a way that is uncomfortable or not natural for you.
  • It sounds like you could use a cross trainer if you are using it for all of that. I would go try them on at a sporting goods store or the like and see what feels comfortable and seems like it will work for you.

  • My wife and I ran Run For Your Lives last year and I ran Hard Charge. I don't know if I'll get to run any this year, but I'm going to keep training like I am. I am doing a 6 week workout plan that I got from a Men't Fitness magazine. It's seems to focus on squats, pull ups, push ups and running. I'm not sure what I'm going…
  • Talking to someone professional might not be a bad idea. It may help to be able to talk or vent to someone.
  • I ran Hard Charge last year and wore a New Balance minimus trail shoe. I worked out great. It quickly and it washed well the next day. I would like to try out the new Reeboks. They look pretty nice.
  • I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 6 years ago. I lost weight by diet and exercise and got my a1c down to normal levels. I was taken off meds and eventually my doc told me he was taking Diabetes off as a diagnosis for me. I have gained in the last 6 months partially due to an injury. My a1c has crept back up but I…
  • I do this as well. Or wear a headband.
  • I like your answer. I get a run in whenever I can. Tonight it was as it was getting dark. Sometimes it is in the early afternoon, which really sucks in the heat. It's not very often that I run in the morning, but I will occasionally.
  • Outside is my preference. I get bored on the treadmill and I must run different on it, because my shins hurt or hurt more when I run on one. I like being able to vary my routes as well.
  • I'm curious about this as well.
  • I am running Hard Charge on Sept. 28th. I'm trying to raise money for the American Diabetes Association by doing it.
  • I would also suggest yoga. I would do a search for a post run or post workout yoga routine.
  • I have done Budokon at times. It's yoga and martial arts. I think I picked the DVD's up at a bookstore. I like it quite a bit.
  • I bought New Balance running socks at ****'s Sporting Goods and they work great for me. They're very comfortable and wick away sweat. They have a whole selection of running socks there, but the NB ones are the only ones I have tried.
