  • I had severe tendonitis in my elbows a few years ago. Being a typical man, I figured I'd just work through it. Do you know what it looks like when you completely detach the bicep tendon on a big deadlift? Picture an alien baby's head crawling up your arm under the skin. Surgery to reattach it, a 8 inch scar on my inner…
  • Great job! Also, kudos to the restaurant. A "mom and pop" knows a loyal customer and will cater to their new choices.
  • Friends list? Sure. But there are clearly more women on MFP than men.
  • I find I get friend requests from far more women, but that is the demographic here. If I had to guess, I'd say there's a 5:1 ratio of women to men here, so it makes sense. Women do tend to be more vocal with support, so I do prefer women "friends" on MFP. It doesn't change the fact I'm very happily married. I'm here to get…
  • http://dietrecipesblog.com/2008/06/16/light-ricotta-cheesecake-recipe-196-calories/ Here's a 196 cal per serving recipe. I have not tried this, but for those that crave cheesecake, ricotta with sweetener and cocoa or spreadable fruit sometimes does the trick.
  • You're proof positive that consistency is key! You probably could have lost more and quicker -- but likely would have crashed and burned out doing it. I was doing the "fast and furious" method and it was burning me out. I've switched to your way and it's easier (albeit a bit slower) and I can sustain it. Good work, Sir!
  • I was stalled and upped my calories last week -- eating back exercise cals. Lost 2 lbs very quickly. There's logic in what you said. By the way -- Nice Saugatuck shirt. Not far from my home. The Chamber of Commerce appreciates the free ad.

  • Did you do anything differently? I mean, great job, but I want to know if there was something that jump started the loss. Always looking fr tips, ya know.

  • Eggs. Hard boiled ahead of time or cooked with cooking spray. One large egg on two slices of Sara Lee light wheat bread (45 cal/slice) and a Yoplait greek 100 yogurt. Filling and about 270 cals. Add a couple of apricots to get to 300.
  • Flavored almond milk or natural?
  • Great explanation. You summed it up nicely. I am having the same issue as the OP and think it may be (1) not changing my exercise routine and (2) leaving too many calories on the table each day.
  • LOL! I'm no spreadsheet wizard, so it took me about 30 mins to get this right ... then I read this post! Could have just asked for the e-mail Thanks for the formula. though!
  • And a great victory it is! Many congrats!
  • You look younger and happier, too! Keep going -- your story is very inspirational!
  • Freeze dried fruit in individual packets. Not dehydrated, but the "Crispy Green" brand. Only 40-55 cals, depending on the type of fruit used and they really help me through a potato chip craving. Must be the crunch. Luigi's italian ice. The smallest size is about 50 cals, as I recall, and it hits the sweet spot. I always…
  • Good job! Those are the best victories --- reclaiming old territory!
  • Had not heard of PB2. Read some reviews and they compared it to the taste of the filling in a Nutter Butter cookie. Not really PB, but not offensive either. No plug or endorsement here, as I've not tried it. 45 cals per 2 TBS.
  • Beer, fit into your calorie plan, isn't a bad thing. The stouts can be lower in cals than other beers (a bottle of Guinness is only 126), so check the counts based on the brewery you're sampling. I drink the ultra lights (55-60 cals) when in a social situation that would make it less collegial to order a club soda but, as…
  • If the beach at Ludington isn't drawing you to exercise, then I don't know what will! LOL. Seriously, it is one of the prettiest beaches in the world, and I've seen many. I feel for you. I'm working full time, finishing a degree, and teaching a class right now. My "baby" is 21, so I do have less activity, but still equal…
  • I was going to suggest shoveling the snow, but you kind of shot that one down. :) There are exercise vids on youtube, so those are cost free. Exercise bands are a god stregth builder and those are relatively cheap -- $15 or so for a basic set. Save for those if $$$ are real tight. Many on these forums say they aren't as…
  • Add me. I'll nag, challenge, and nudge you --- if you'll do the same.
  • Agreed. It makes sense to eat some back to stoke your metabolism but, depending on overall intake, you may not need to eat them ALL back. I workout in the afternoon and eat lighter early in the day while I'm at work. I normally have 1500 cals left at dinnertime, once the workout is added back. No way I could eat all of…
  • Busted. :(
  • Fybromyalgia is tough. Not fun having pain you can't really describe or isolate. Weight gain (or sometimes weight loss) is common when coming off SRIs and other meds. It will even out. Just be patient and know it's a temporary side effect. No one coming off Prozac every gained 1000lbs and burst! :) Just be strong and hang…
  • We're here and the advice seen here is prettty solid. Occasionally there is a piece of bad advice, but it is pretty easy to spot. Anything that looks too easy ...is. So far, I'm only down 8 lbs, but the idea that I can "eat back" exercise calories is a good "crutch." If I get hungry, I know what I need to do first, to get…
  • Would you give us a little insight into your workouts? You mentioned the walking at first, then the amount of time in your workouts. What was your split between weights and cardi -- if their was one? Thanks. You look fantastic!
  • Which means....?
