I'll be staying in the dorms at Moscow State, and I'm not sure if we as exchange students will have access to the gym there, and I'm sure I'd have to pay to go to a regular Moscow gym, but I'd be willing to splurge, of course. :) Bodyweight exercises are good, and I hear there's a nice nature park right near the…

I'm not surprised! I imagine it would be like NYC in that way :p Have you been there??? :o

Водка, да, конечно. спасибо :p

Hey, I just wanted to make sure I had some options just in case! :p I know that the gym at Moscow State leaves a lot to be desired and that the actual gyms there are pretty expensive (though I'm willing to splurge). I actually saw that blog post, it's really, really good!! Thank you for your input :) I can't help but worry…

I know that! Hahahaha, I'm not really asking for advice, just wondering what other peoples' routines are :p

As much as I appreciate the snark I have enough common sense to know that a doctor would know best and I have made an appointment, lol. I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced similar problems and knew what I should do in the meantime. It's stopped hurting even though I lifted weights this morning, though, so…

I don't run in the mornings, but I do other forms of cardio and all of my strength training in the mornings right after I get up, and I usually have a big glass of water, a SMALL handful of fruit and two or three crackers... I don't really eat anything past like 4 o'clok PM though so that may not work for you. According to…

Why does he only mention women, though? Doesn't this apply to both genders?
-
I agree! I've never been overweight but I'm certainly leaner and more toned now that I'm doing more strength training than cardio. I also eat more :p Cool to see an interesting article about it :)

I went completely cold turkey on added sugars at first until I learned how to control my desire for them!
-
I have a smaaaaaaall piece of candy every morning if I have leftovers from something like Easter or Christmas and of course I have dessert on vacations and if I'm offered something delicious, unique and homemade I'll take it, but otherwise that's all... I've been "eating clean" for a while so I don't usually feel the need…

Thank you very much :)

If you look better and your clothes are looser but your scale isn't saying you're losing weight, then who cares! It probably means you're losing fat and gaining lean muscle, which is great. :) Unless your scale is wonky :p But I wouldn't worry about it!

Okay! But how do I tell if it's rancid? It tastes a little different, not as fresh, but it's certainly edible. And the sell-by date was 5/23/2013, which wasn't too long ago; I just know that I've probably had it for a couple of weeks, and it's not been in the fridge.

Thank you guys! Yeah, I do tons of pilates and yoga, and lately I've been riding the stationary bike but for some reason my apartment complex decided to make the usually 24-hour gym, uh, not 24-hours. It's just super inconvenient not having many cardio options in the first place and then... grrrr. How accurate do you think…

Thank you for the suggestions!! But I really was just looking for DVDS :x

http://thesituationist.wordpress.com/2012/03/13/the-evolutionary-biology-of-obesity/ I think this was it!

oh but as for whether or not the "sugar addiction" is actually real, I think the short answer is yes... humans were designed to crave sugar so much because it was so difficult for our ancestors to find in large quantities- the sweetest thing the average caveman probably ate on a regular basis was about as sweet as a…

I would say yes! I used to have a real sweet tooth. I honestly cut it out cold turkey at first and now I have a small piece of candy every morning and I seriously don't crave it at all anymore... but of course I indulge on special occasions! Trust me trust me trust me, it's very possible to get over :)

Oh, yeah, I think the trick is definitely finding something that you love to do, as well as variety. I guess I had that with ballet so that made me love exercising... it's beautiful and not monotonous like just plugging away on the treadmill for hours

My mom has been forcing my sister and I to exercise for as long as I can remember... so I grew into it lol. I guess I started to love it around 16 or so, when I also started loving waking up early! hahaha. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree :p

dude, I ended up just thawing them and eating them plain and they were delicious, but I have so many ideas for shrimp recipes now! yay!
-
One of those brown rice cakes with almond butter sprinkled with either unsweetened cocoa, cinnamon or raisins and some kind of fruit dipped in Greek yogurt. Today I had a bunch of strawberries :3
-
very pleased with how simple all of these ideas are :) thank you guys!
-
These are all fabulous ideas, thank you guys so much!

Good ideas! I do have spinach and some frozen veggies already... What sorts of spices go best with shrimp? And I do like shrimp, but I can't recall having had them without seasoning! I'm just trying to keep it all as simple as possible so I don't need to go out and buy anything extra :p

Thank you so much!!! I can read some Russian, but I'm learning. I plan to keep a booklet of useful words and phrases to remember while I'm there. Thank you :)

Thank you both! Ill only be there for a month, and my parents are also pretty health-conscious and won't mind if I have to spend some extra money to make sure I'm eating well; however, I'm going to be staying in a dorm at Moscow State University. I'm hoping I'll have the time to buy things from grocery stores or markets…
