I do want exercises that do involve legs that I can either modify to meet my needs that isn't really too high impact. I am cleared for full range of motion, and from what I can tell it seems to be more the impact than any motions that hurt. Do you know of any good free videos with hand weights? I have some of those on the…

I've already gone through and have finished physical therapy. I still do the strengthening exercises they gave me but have been wanting to increase cardio.

I bought a pair of shoes (after debating about it for 3 weeks). I need to lose 2 more pounds before I can wear them

I recently started taking CLA. I started taking them as the bottle indicates (1 pill 3x a day, with a meal) and got violently ill. The pills made my horribly upset. I lost weight, but only because I couldn't eat. What does the bottle say? It should have instructions on it. I'd try taking one pill once a day, and gradually…

Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat. A pound of fat is a pound of muscle is a pound of feathers. It's all a pound. Lean muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat.

Did you give in? Otherwise it's not sabotage, just a failed attempt.

Some members have their profiles set to friends only, but some have it set to members only. My dinner tonight was a salad with chicken, feta, and grilled vegetables. No salad dressing because the chicken and vegetables were marinated. Today's day 1 of me following south beach - which cuts out a lot of processed carbs and…

Neither. I don't consider anything cheating. The changes I'm making I intend to keep for life. Is it realistic to not "cheat" the rest of my life? No. I have to learn how to make smart choices, let myself have the foods I like, and learn how to make them fit in my day.

Haha aqua buddies. I agree. And don't think that less calories = faster weight loss. It's counter productive. If I eat less than 1500 calories I know I won't lose weight. It's all about your body. Listen to it, trust it. It knows. If you're constantly hungry and weak and tired, you're probably not eating enough. It takes…

This is the part I can relate to the most. When I first started, I was the only one around me who was working out/eating right. I feel it made me a stronger person, because I can only rely on myself, and my victories are truly mine. If you have concerns about keeping motivation, there's a couple of things to keep in mind.…

You have no idea how much I needed to see this today. I've been struggling so hard (had a 40 pound regain) and sometimes I feel like my efforts are futile. You're right. It doesn't matter how long it takes, and it's OK if it takes me years. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your journey.

It's hard to provide advice with your diary closed. Some things to think about. 1) how often are you eating? My body is happiest when I eat 5-6 times a day. That way, I'm constantly eating and digesting. It's better for my metabolism. 2) what are you eating? Are you eating empty calories? Just because it fits in your day…

I was the person who kept his favorite baseball cap. In my defense, he never returned my calls for him to come get it

Look into a personal trainer. I had one for about a year about a year ago, and it was the best money I ever spent on myself. I didn't know anything about lifting, and she taught me form, how much weight to lift, and how to plan my workouts. Now, I just go to the gym and rock that :)

Yup :)

I don't particularly care for how they LOOK, but how they feel and how strong they are, is another story. I proudly boast what I can lift with my quads/glutes/inner and outer thighs. Under the layers of fat, I can feel the strength, and the leanness, and I love that. I can't wait to max out the leg machines at the gym. I…

I suffer from both as well. Zyrtec and a Neti Pot are the best things, ever, for allergies. I've only had one full blown asthma attack, and when I did, I only wanted my inhaler. Totally worth the time to go to the doctor and worth the money. When I'm exercising and I feel an attack coming on, I just decrease my intensity…

A pound of fat = a pound of muscle = a pound of cheese. A pound of fat TAKES UP LESS SPACE than a pound of lean muscle. You can lose fat, gain muscle, and not lose weight. Focus on the inches.

I have to get the package, IMMEDIATELY bag it into 1/4 cup servings, and not keep them in the same place. I can thankfully restrain myself from eating it at home and I take it to work as a morning snack. Also thankfully for me, I don't like raisins, so I pick those out. Nuts have turned into one of my favorite snacks.…

I know about people I went to high school with enough to know their personalities but I don't know them personally. It made sense to me. Not overreacting, at all. Just be careful you don't end up in a position where she's given an ultimatum by him.

This is why I DO NOT wear underwear at the gym.

I gained an inch in my early 20s, but I was heavier then than I am now.

Glad someone broke out the tough love :) Ditto above. I suffer from depression and anxiety disorders as well, so I know how hard it can be. It's a viscious cycle of being depressed because you're fat and being fat because you're depressed. It has to end somewhere. Exercising releases endorphins - the 'feel good' drug in…

That totally made my day.

1) you're putting too much thought into it 2) if you haven't switched up your exercise, do that. your body is smart, it figures things out quick and tries to hold onto what it has.

I had the same problem. What I saw in the mirror (before I gained a lot back) was the same as before I started. For me, it was all mental. The photo is proof, without my biases. The mirror, I can make myself see whatever I want. It took me about 50 pounds to see a difference in my body, but I saw it in my face sooner.

I paid $30/half hour. Worth every penny :) I had to stop going to her for financial reasons, and gained back a lot of the weight she helped me lose. Take notes after each session of what you did and how much weight you did (or ask for a copy of his/her notes) so you can keep it up
