  • I'm not TTC and I don't take metformin, but I do have PCOS!! I have stable normal blood sugar, but I am 313 lbs and so I am still at high risk of developing diabetes....which terrifies me!! Everything I've read and been told by my doctor drives me to try and lose the weight. My doc said that the best way to manage PCOS is…
  • Thanks! Thats the other thing I was wondering about was accuracy, which is the entire reason I wanted to get one!
  • Very informative!! I try and over-log food and under-log exercise. I take off at least 5 minutes out of every hour walking to accomodate for the dogs doing their business, me taking gloves/hat/headlamp on/off, waiting for a stop light (although I do walk in place), etc. I don't log things like sex, groceries, etc. But I…
  • Purplespeckle I'm hoping I'll be able to do those soon! I bruised my knee caritilage severely and pulled my hamstring, so I'm having to do physical therapy and not allowed to run, jog, squat, lunge, etc until the doc clears me to. So alas....its flat walking! I miss hiking! But its better this way than getting a knee…
  • Your period being a week away can definately cause you to hold some water. Also, how much sodium are you eating? If you've had 1-2 higher sodium days you can be retaining water.
  • If you're exercising 30-60 mins each day, you're burning more than 160 cals exercising. That means you're not eating a minimum of 1200 each day. You may just need to eat more, especially some nice lean proteins (yogurt, chicken, fish, etc). Try bumping up your calories by 2-300 for a week. Also, are you doing the same…
  • I currently can't do lunges, squats, or jumping jacks (anything that puts high strain on my knee) so after doing the 30DS a couple days I had to stop. There is another Biggest Loser DVD - PowerSculpt, which incorporates free-weights and is amazing. It has a 20 min level 1, 10 min level 2, and 10 min level 3. I usually do…
  • Lala and Azdak, I can't express how grateful I am! Thank you for the kind words and support! I will continue to listen to my body, and make decisions based on how my body feels and not the numbers that my mind likes to crunch repeatedly. Tonight we're going out to dinner and I expect I'll be closer to 2-2400 cals today…
  • Thank you!! Your words are so sweet and encouraging!
  • Thank you Azdak! That is so useful! I have been doing 1200 for a couple weeks. It is hard to stay at 1200, especially since as I learn more I'm also trying to keep a moderate level of carbs and a low-moderate level of sodium. Today I got up and had to force myself to do my exercise videos. Yesterday I had to force myself…
  • What a great thread! I'm a big girl - my BMR is 2100! I have been eating 1200 and losing about 3# a week, but I also exercise each day. It is pretty hard sometimes to not eat a lot more than my calories allow! While 3# may be somewhat a lot to lose each week, I'm 313 lbs - so I also have to consider the strain I'm putting…
  • Thanks! I love reminders like that!
  • I've had PCOS for years. I was on metformin for a couple years but it didn't do a thing for me. My blood sugar and BP has always been good, but my weight ballooned up to 343 after a couple years of emotional eating and self-destructive behaviors. I know PCOS makes losing weight harder, but that just pushes me even more to…
  • I only have one friend on here but I am hoping to get more!! Even with just the one friend seeing her bust it out with the exercise and nutrition inspires me to do my best as well! So if anyone wants more friends, please add me!
  • When the scale goes down it motivates me to keep on doing what I'm doing. When the scale goes up I tell myself 2 things - weight fluctuates, and this is a reminder to not slack off and instead bust it out! The latter happened to me this morning. Scale says up 2/5 of a lb. So while I had considered skipping that exercise…
  • Amazing! Doc currently wont let me run or jog so I am so envious and proud of you! Great job!
  • That's me! Every morning generally after I pee. Sometimes I'll do it after I've done an exercise video but before I show (wet hair = weight gain!!). If I'm up a pound I don't take it to hard. I'll go back and review what I ate...especially how much sodium I took in! However, I do measure other aspects to - like my…
  • Thanks Rileysowner! Before now I never really considered sodium intake, but I'm definately being more aware of it now.
  • I love all the responses. I'm going to try and cut down (and eventually cut out) on the diet sodas. For now I'll have a glass with lunch and dinner and thats it...and then when my current stock is gone I'll only buy one (2 liter) a week...and go from there!
  • Amazing!! I can't hike that fast yet...I'm closer to 7 miles in 5 hours!! But we just moved out to Seattle from fairly-flat Iowa, so I have to build up my endurance!! I did Jillian Michaels Power Sculpt this morning - did both level one and level two (with warm up and cooldown as well) and then walked for 2 hours. I didn't…
  • This is maybe a silly question....does exercise affect how much sodium you can/should take in? I walked 2 hours today and earlier I did an exercise video. I've been drinking plenty of water. Not sure if that affects my ideal sodium intake or not. I am trying to reduce my sodium. It's pretty hard right now because I made a…
  • I'm interested in this as well! I drink Diet Coke - like a lot of it (often about 2 liters a day, about 10 liters a week.) For me, I use it for the taste....sometimes when I'm really craving food I'll drink a glass of diet coke and having that flavor makes the craving lessen or go away.
  • I'm in! Don't know if I can double my exercise...but I'll try or or fall gasping to the floor trying!
  • Do you have a heart rate monitor? What about a trio of great exercise dvds? Or a new pilates/yoga/exercise mat? I'm not sure what those stores are, so not sure what they offer. For a magazine, check out anything by Cooking Light. They have fabulous, delicious recipes. They also publish books like compilations of the…
  • Alli prevents absorbtion of a percentage of the fat you intake. So it depends....if you are on a low fat diet already, it won't make a big difference. If you're on a high-fat diet, you run the risk of the squirts. If you're in the middle, it may help you out but you still gotta be careful of the side effects. Try it on a…
  • Same here. But I'll deal with loose skin so I don't have to deal with diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and not finding clothes that fit!
  • To be fair, I wouldn't be shocked if Terri Hatcher was that low....that woman is mostly skin and bones!! Give me Eva, Marcia, or Felicity any day! =)
  • That sounds delicious!! I wouldn't want to use a full-blooded egg with that since it sounds like maybe you'd need a lot of egg volume....but I bet if you used an egg beaters you could get the same thing! And crispy rice MMMMM!
  • I found this....http://cookeatshare.com/recipes/weight-watcher-s-chicken-fried-rice-18069 * 6 ounce. cooked diced chicken breast * 1/4 c. low sodium chicken broth * 1 1/2 tbsp. low sodium teriyaki sauce * 1 teaspoon grated gingerroot (optional) * Healthy pinch of white pepper * 2 teaspoon vegetable oil * 2 lg. Large eggs,…
  • Thanks! I'm really bad about cooking the rice in advance, but I know its better if I cook it beforehand! The way I do it is when I cook the rice, I add the seasoning and onion in then so its absorbed into the rice. I cook the egg and chicken seperately, and chop the carrots, and mix it with peas. After all the ingredients…
