I have one similar to @midwesterner85’s except mine is grey and personalized with my name and “You are stronger than you think.” There are two hooks on the left side for me to hang my bibs. (Sorry, no pic

Hi everyone. I’m Barbra. I live in metro Atlanta. I’ve been a runner/walker for years (started in my late 30s while living abroad), but unexpectedly won the NYC Marathon lottery, so I’m running my first marathon this November! My daughter and I have a tradition of doing the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta every July 4th…

@Elise4270 Thanks for the article! I’m reading it now. I’m also researching UCAN. I’m considering purchasing a sample pack or a tub, but it’s an investment. I’ll keep you posted. Please do the same. It’ll help with the accountability.

Thanks. Very helpful. I was wondering about UCAN. It’s pricey, so I might try corn starch, which I read has a similar effect. I’ll work on getting the diet dialed in for now. I’ve been eating sugar and grains and drinking wine with abandon over the last few months. Hard habits to break.

@midwesterner85 I’m training for my first marathon (NYC in November) and posted a question about losing body fat and weight in the Low-carber forum that hasn’t received any feedback yet. I just found this group today and thought it might be better to post here. My body fat (mid- to high-30s) and weight are too high for me…

Great. Thanks!

Made it through the day. Fridays are always hard, especially when it's a long holiday weekend, and you know everyone will be partying.

Just what I was looking for. I'm in.

I like the miso soup idea. I'll have to look for that. I'm going to try frozen meals for a bit and see how that works. It's just easier because the calorie counting is done for me. That will still leave me with a few calories to play around with for breakfast (which is usually light or non-existent) and in the evening.
-
Thanks. I just noticed the fast day menu thread, too. Great ideas there. I think several small meals will probably work best for me. That way I won't reach the stage where I'm starving.

I totally feel ya. I'm tired of these suckers (I'm also a DD).

There's also another side to the 3AM shopper story, though. I'm a fan of shopping late at night for a similar reason: Less people to judge. The big difference is, I buy lots of fresh produce, lean meats, dairy staples (butter, milk, cheese), and the occasional frozen pizza for nights I don't feel like cooking. People still…

Hi everyone. I just started today and thought I would share some of my mistakes and misadventures. 1) I completely forgot that I was supposed to rotate between my push-ups and rows. So I did both sets of push-ups one behind the other and the same with the rows. Off to a bad start. 2) The prone jackknife. Well, I never did…

This is such a fantastic post. THANK YOU! I was completely confused by the other threads on this subject. I didn't even want to think about doing the calculations. Easy peesy thanks to you.

This is the most inspirational story I've seen since joining MFP. I have no problems with weight lifting; I've never been scared of bulking up, because I knew that wouldn't happen. But I was still captive to the calorie counting. MFP--and this story in particular--has changed all of that. You look unbelievable. THAT is the…

Fantastic. You look great!

I see it now. Ok. Thx!

This is UNBELIEVABLE! You look like a completely different person. Amazing. Congrats.

Absolutely a difference! Good job.

Thanks daoc1972 and everyone else. Great advice all around. I've been eating my calories back, so I'll continue to do that, unless I start having problems. I'm a budding endurance runner, so it'll be even more important for me to watch my nutrition and make sure I'm getting enough to eat.
