You seem to really care about how other people see you OP, your driving goal is the perception of strangers. Bit sad really

I grew up in stoke-on-trent in the uk to average income parents. They grew veggies for awhile and my grandparents grew a lot more. All meals were home cooked but did quite often include offal which I wouldn't touch with a barge pole now. My mum and my grandmother were great cooks and bakers but not everyday, so it was for…

Good point, and they exercises at night. Someone should do a study on them

For the vast majority of doctors it's absolutely true. There are no nutritional deficiencies that matter to doctors working in, for example, emergency, orthopaedics, general surgery, ent, anaesthetics, intensive care, radiology, obstetrics, neo-nateology .... I could go on. In the vast plethora of diseases and conditions…

Yep yep yep

Well to be fair knowledge of nutrition is utterly irrelevant to the vast bulk of medical specialties. Most don't particularly give a rats *kitten* as to what their patients eat, because it actually doesn't matter.

Congratulations

It's nice that you are caring but as a former weird kid, I would say stay out of it. I once had a well meaning lady coming up and tell me the way to the nearest soup kitchen much to the mortification of my loving, middle class parents when they heard about it. Donate to food banks, charity shops etc in your area then if…

I've only just read your story. I found it through your blog post, so see it was worth writing! Your life so far has been an uphill struggle but you are nearly at the top now, just a bit of a climb, and the views will be spectacular .

Just going to leave this here:- Ben and Jerry's chunky monkey for the record

That's true of medical education at undergraduate level. Doctors don't stop studying once they qualify, add at least another ten years of intense study to become specialists. Whether nutrition is part of it depends on the speciality. Emergency medicine for example would never cover it at all but others such as…

make sure you eat breakfast to "fire" your metabolism and have you tried garcinia cambogia?

I wouldn't work out in thongs, they would cause me to trip on a treadmill, and what if I dropped a plate on my foot ... Ouch

Disingenuous of her as she lives in a country with a public health system

Well for starters cardiac metabolism is a lot more complicated than that. The rate should have minimal to zero effect on your weight loss. In terms of your own resting heart rate dropping to that extent, it is concerning. Yes athletes build up cardiovascular fitness to a degree that it will lead to a drop in rate. It is…

Ah the lonley life of the MFP wanderer, search endless threads for that elusive connection .........

She's ignoring me as well, shall we talk to each other?

And incidentally you ignored my post above offering nicely worded advice. It's fine I'm not butthurt but do you see your logic fail?
-
Yes you do. I think I had about 200 before I got a response. It's not the real world, it is, as others have pointed out, a fast moving Internet site

You get out what you put in, in my experience. Head over to the success threads and start congratulating people. Jump in to the motivation threads - you might not have advice to give but let people know you sympathise. Join in some debates, share some funny gifs. When you come across people that gel send them a friend…

Uniforms are so much easier, they are pretty much the standard here in Australia, where for a good chunk of the school year the temperatures are in the high 90's/100s. At my sons school all the kids, boys and girls, wear the same light weight shorts and microfibre polo shirts that are 50 SPF sun protective. Not only does…

Your weight is just one of the metrics used in assessing your health. As for some doctors being over weight themselves and commenting on patient's weight - it is the job they are paid for. Less hypocritical and more hippocratic.
