  • When my 350 lb mother-in-law (who lives alone and is otherwise healthy) got ill. I had to call my brother-in-law to help me roll her over on the bed. She has a difficult time walking and i watch her eat and eat and eat and move less and less. And i knew that was going to be me if i didn't do something NOW!
  • You should shoot for .8 to 1 gram of protein per pound unless you are very overweight then use your goal weight. So where do you find what you should be using as a guideline?
  • oh-I am so happy for you!!
  • The only real way to find out what's going on is to see a doctor. You could be in pre-menopause. When I was, i only had to smell food to gain weight. No matter what I did, there was no leveling out. Try a public health clinic if you can't afford the blood work.
  • i've never had tendonitis in my ankle, but have it in my wrists. I went back to work with a brace on it, and taking Aleve or Ibuprofen (whichever I could take). I'd definitely see a dr about it again, depending on how bad it is it could morph into more. Don't let pre-wedding stress get the best of you!
  • instead of an apple, eat it with carrots, celery, or other crunchy veggies. just as good, fewer calories, if that's your goal.
  • Strawberry Twizzlers licorice and cold Coors Light. Mmmmm!
  • When i chose to give up diet soda, I switched to sparkling water on my way to drinking plain water. I missed the fizz, the bubbles, the lift I seemed to get from soda. After a while, I was able to switch to plain water. I prefer mine with LOTS of ice. I also like to add fruit or some veggies to it in the refrigerator for a…

  • Reading up on the South Beach Diet helped me a lot - im not diabetic but sensitive to carbs. there are good ones and bad ones (glycemic index) and it made a WORLD of difference for me. Good luck!
  • i like chobani yogurt with about a quarter cup of granola added to it. i find it keeps me full until lunch for around 260 calories.
  • Feel free to add me, too. :)
  • I would also recommend that if people have any questions about how much water they should be consuming, they contact their physician or healthcare provider to discuss what is appropriate for them. ^^ This - my mom ended up in the hospital because she drank too much water and screwed up her electrolytes, sodium levels and…
  • Alcoholics will pester everyone around them to drink so that the alcoholic does not feel out of place. People confronted by someone eating healthy will do the same thing. They can't handle the guilt of eating poorly and your eating healthy in their presence causes them to project their feelings onto you. I'd change lunch…
  • headaches can be lack of caffeine if you've cut back, artificial sweetener in diet soda now that your body is cleansed, or just plain dehydration.
  • you really should have symptoms checked by your dr to be on the safe side, however, extreme fatigue and headache are always what i experience when i give up processed foods and sugar. they react with my body like alcohol to an alcoholic. feel the same way when i start to eat them again, too. why the heck would i do that to…
  • Putting on tennis shoes and tying them without having to hold my breath!
  • Way to go! it's so motivating to get into the next size down, isn't it? :flowerforyou:
  • Diets fail because people who manage to lose the weight through deprivation end up going back to their old ways of eating and, of course, gain it all back. It's yo-yo dieting. It can't be, "I hate this, but I'll do it until I'm at X pounds". Quit dieting and find a calorie count that works for you and build in your…
  • when an overwhelming sweet urge hits me, i look at what i've eaten so far for the day. for ME -and not everyone!-simple carbs are usually the culprit because they turn to sugar in my system too quickly. If i eat something of protein and fat (like a cheese stick) it will curb the urge because one little bit won't be enough.…
  • feel free to add me. i'm fairly new but on almost every day
  • Yeah!! I'm almost 54, joined 3 weeks ago and after losing 4 pounds, I only have 131 to go. :drinker: It sounds so overwhelming but it has really helped me to log in and check out what others are saying. I plan to join the 50+ thread, too. Looking forward to walking through this with all of you!
  • Like every other gym, Curves has it's niche. I was 50-something when i joined and was intimidated beyond belief to go. Once there and seeing others who didn't have the "right" workout clothes, who were as uncoordinated as I was, and who were as overweight as i was made me feel comfortable. Our older joints, bones, and…
