  • Of course it counts! I wouldn't log it as exercise for calories, but every little bit extra is going to aid you in weight loss. If you did this every hour or two, you could easily add an hour of movement you weren't doing before :) Eat less, move more. That's the key to losing weight.
  • Me too! Third time's the charm, right?
  • Trying to avoid sweets does not work for me. If I tell myself I can't have them, that is ALL I want! Instead, I'm on what I affectionately call "The Cookie Diet": (Copied from old post) We've likely all heard of the low fat, low carb, veggies only, cabbage only, grapefruit, and every other 'thing' diets. This is even…
  • There are a ton of free workout videos available on youtube and you can search based on your level (beginner, etc). If you have Netflix or Prime, there are plenty on there, as well. Not saying the BB workouts wouldn't work, but I wouldn't pay for them when there are so many other options. There is nothing special about…
  • Don't worry too much about macros (fat, protein, carbs), especially at first. Watch calories then later dial in your macros. You may find that you do better with different ratios.
  • A sweet lady at WalMart the other day asked how I was and I was honest with her. I told her life sucked. She mentioned that there was always someone else worse off... I told her my dad had just died from brain cancer. Now, I see your post... I can't imagine the pain you face at having lost your young son. One expects to…
  • Thank you, everyone. It's great to be back
  • I don't do "cheats", but I do bank calories ahead of time if I know I'm going to eat a higher calorie meal. If it comes up unplanned, then I eat it, log it, and eat a little less over the next several days. In the end, one meal here and there isn't going to hurt anything at all. For me, it works best to look at my weekly…
  • This is my primary issue, as well. For me, I can't buy my binge foods or I will eat them. If I don't have them, then I would have to go to the store if I really really want it.. that means putting on pants! (the horror!) If, after putting it off a while, I still want it bad enough to put on pants, then I go get it.. eat…
  • I was curious about this, myself. These are the answers I was given: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1263637/beef-vs-turkey/p1
  • Eat fish :) Not sure what you're looking for here, other than to cut out other forms of meat. I'm curious, though, as to your reasoning for wanting to start this.
  • It's been a long few months, but they also flew by far too quickly. While we were given a prognosis of 6-18 months, it was less than three from surgery to my dad's passing. I was fortunate in that I was able to be there for those final two weeks and to be there holding his hand when he passed. It's taken its toll both…
  • We just got the prognosis after pathology... They're giving him 6 - 18 months :( My mom is a wreck and I have to pretend I'm not so she can lean on me... and this SUCKS
  • Ice cream. A Snickers. Or, you could add more fats into what you are eating. You'll get better advice if you open your diary.
  • I rarely close mine.
  • Your BMR is what you'd burn if you were basically comatose. Just waking up and sitting in bed burns more than that. It's too early for me to convert stone to pounds, but yes, you'll lose without exercise at 1200. I may add more to this after I wake up, if no one else has.

  • You've been given great advice so far! I want to lend support as well and let you know that it is totally possible!!! You don't even have to starve yourself. As others said, put your stats into MFP and eat what it tells you. Less is NOT necessarily better. MFP already includes a calorie deficit and, as you lose, you update…
  • I do an egg white omelet with turkey and cheese for about 100c

  • Are you telling yourself you can't have sweets? We always want the forbidden. Allow yourself occassional sweets within your calorie goals.
  • I use salsa on mine to keep the calories down.
  • I do this on purpose now and then just to get things 'moving' when they hadn't been as regular for a bit. It hasn't hit me to the extent it did you, but I don't eat 'clean' all the time, either. Sorry it hit you so hard!
  • Ok, so it isn't giving me those extra calories because of how much I've done, but because it's predicting I'll continue at that pace. That makes sense. It was SO confusing to see those extra calories when I hadn't done a dang thing so far! lol
  • Yesterday, my total steps were 5,549 (I did one intentional walk of 1 mile at @3mph) and MFP gave me 628 extra calories.. Yep, I'm going back to TDEE-%
  • I agree with the above poster. Take the pictures. It's amazing to see the differences as you go.
  • I could tell you the story of my best friend's brother in law. He just had to have 10lbs of flesh cut out due to gangrene that went unnoticed because of his diabetes (nerve damage). Her brother had to have a limb amputated at the knee because of his diabetes. Orrrrrrrr... I'd suggest diet sodas and sugar free gums! They…
