"Seeking Motivation" - "Help me find motivation" - "Not motivated" -
I went in search of definitions to get the point across that I wanted to make. Instead, I found someone who'd already said it perfectly... Source: https://www.wisdomination.com/screw-motivation-what-you-need-is-discipline/

June Sucked
I'm back from an unintended sabbatical. At the end of May, my dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He didn't want to have the surgery before our pre-planned vacation, so we went to Branson, MO and had a great time. I even managed to generally log while I was gone for that. Then, though, came the two week wait for his…

How sedentary IS sedentary according to MFP?
So.. I've been up for an hour. I have a total of 290 steps so far, and MFP is already giving me a calorie adjustment. I really don't get it. 13 extra calories for getting up, walking through the house and going to the bathroom a few times? I'm really thinking about turning off the exercise adjustments and going back to my…

Butt hurt! (Bike question)
For those who had gone a span of time without riding a bike, then started up again.. How long did it take before your butt toughened up enough it didn't hurt from the seat? I got a gel cover, still hurts and it's a wide butt seat (not as wide as my butt, but they don't make seats that wide lol) Half the time, I have to…

Not losing weight! (Vent)
Disclaimer: I know the weight will come off. I know I have to give it time. I know the weight fluctuations are normal. I am weighing/logging all my food. That said, I'm just having a frustrated moment and want to vent a bit. I have been up and down between 202.6 and 204.8 for the last two weeks. I'm SO close to hitting the…

I had ice cream for supper ~ I'm a failure!
Just kidding! No, I really did have ice cream for dinner, but I'm not a failure because of it. I'm still well within my calorie goals. I ate "real" food the rest of the day and I just wanted ice cream. My ice cream provided me carbs, fat, and protein. It gave me Vitamin A and Calcium. This doesn't have to be difficult,…

Multiple mini workouts instead of single long ones - personal experience?
I have begun with several mini workouts throughout the day, for instance, I have a dumbell in the bathroom for curls, etc while I'm visiting for other reasons. I'll stop once every hour or so for push ups, a set of jumping jacks, or something else. I know that, right now, this will be effective as I've been primarily…

Garmin Connect Users?
I recently started using a Garmin Vivosmart HR (Today was the first full day). I linked it to MFP and it's giving me some outrageous exercise calories. I didn't do any intentional exercise today. I got 6791 steps total. I have MFP set to sedentary, so I did expect it to add some based on that, but it's added 1468…

NSV ~ A first
I took the kids to the park today and, as usual, we stopped through McD's on the way home for lunch. I bought food for them, but opted to wait until I got home to make myself a sandwich on my new Dave's Killer Bread (If you haven't tried it, you should! It's whole grains/seeds and full of fiber, but it's delicious). For…

The cookie diet!
We've likely all heard of the low fat, low carb, veggies only, cabbage only, grapefruit, and every other 'thing' diets. This is even better!!! After all, who doesn't love cookies?? 1. Create account on MFP, enter your stats, goals, activity levels and allow MFP to set a calorie goal. (As much as we'd all love to lose 2lbs+…

Normal weight people?
I've often wondered how people of normal, healthy weight maintain that? Not those who've lost weight and keep track of calories or what have you in order to stay lean, but the ones who've never struggled with weight. Do their hunger cues simply work better? What about days they are more active? Are they then more hungry?…

Chicken noodle soup... Without the noodles or chicken?
I don't like the noodles or chicken in the soup, but the broth is not quite just chicken broth. How would you log that? ETA: I have a cold, can't breathe. That's why I'm doing this soup at all. It helps with that.

Recommended activity trackers, please
I've never used an activity tracker and would like some first-hand suggestions on which to invest in. Pros? Cons? Any you hated for some reason? Thank you in advance!!

Total Gym? Weider Ultimate Body Works?
Chuck Norris was on my tv this morning when I turned it on, pushing his Total Gym. Well, the commercial makes it look like a great workout. I went and looked on Amazon to see how much they were and, wow! It sounded like a good idea, though, so I browsed through other brands and options and came to this one:…

A sound plan?
When I first started with MFP, I did what most seem to do and set my weight loss goals as high as possible and was given the dreaded 1200. I tried that for maybe two days and realized that I wasn't going to be able to stick to it. I played with my numbers, read the forums, found new calculators to determine my TDEE and…

Oh wow it's no wonder our nation is so overweight!
I am having my first Sonic Blast since I started working to lose weight. It's a splurge day, I can eat the small and not go over my maintenance calories, I'm going for it... So, I go to Sonic, place my order and the lady brings it out. She tells me that there is a short survey on the receipt and, if I complete it, I can…

Eating for health
First, let me say that I do understand that a calorie deficit is all that's required to lose weight. I am doing that and proving it right. I am trying to sort through the information, though, to determine some other factors. I see that "eating fat" does not make one fat. Eating cholesterol does not elevate blood…

Beef vs Turkey
When I first started changing my eating habits, one of the things I did was switch from ground beef to ground turkey. In my mind, it sounded healthier, I guess. I still eat beef occasionally. Nothing beats a good steak. I started wondering, though, why? I'm searching the nutritional values for each and, from everything I…

Enough protein without powders?
I am having trouble hitting my protein macro without using the protein powders. I'll use them if I have to but I would rather stick with real food. My food diary is open and input is welcome. I am hoping to get ideas on snacks or things I can add to my meals that will help up that macro.

One month check in, so far, so good!
One month in (this trip) and I'm down 12 lbs, an inch and a half in my hips, three inches lost around my thigh, four from around my bust, three around my chest (under bust) ... And I am loving these new eating habits. (Not dieting at all.. Have had pizza, steak and shrimp twice, chocolate, ice cream, and anything else that…

Body fat scale?
I keep seeing the step on or hand held devices that claim to measure body fat but I can't imagine how they could possibly be accurate. Does anyone have any experience with these and their accuracy? Know how they work? Just curious of the technology behind them and if this type of monitoring is possible. Thanks!
