I had ice cream for supper ~ I'm a failure!

Just kidding!
No, I really did have ice cream for dinner, but I'm not a failure because of it. I'm still well within my calorie goals. I ate "real" food the rest of the day and I just wanted ice cream.
My ice cream provided me carbs, fat, and protein. It gave me Vitamin A and Calcium.
This doesn't have to be difficult, really.. Eat what you like, within reason, as part of a generally healthy diet, and stay within your calorie goals (most of the time) and you can/will lose weight.

Believe it or not, this makes me angrier than going over calories or having a less than stellar day nutrition-wise. It peeves me irrationally when I find myself wasting calories on things that don't taste as good as I expected, and to make it worse, I don't stop eating it. I just grumble to myself that I could have had better for the calories. I managed to stop eating foods I don't care for, but I still can't manage foods that take me by surprise. It's so irrational it makes me laugh at myself sometimes.21 -
You are both so right! I actually did stop eating a dessert on Mother's day because it didn't taste as good as I'd hoped it would. We were at Olive Garden and tried the trio of little desserts (I split with my son). There was one we each took a single taste of and then left. The other two, we devoured because they were SO delicious. lol I'm done wasting calories on things I don't really enjoy.9

I saw the headline and thought....NO! I had cookies for breakfast, and in my coloric allowance for my weight loss goals.4 -
You almost had me there, but then I remembered your name from another thread
This approach is what has made maintenance possible for me - for 3 1/2 years now5 -
I had ice cream recently and I did fail. I am not happy about it either. I ordered it and shared it with a friend. A day or so later I was talking to another friend who knows I am on a diet and for some reason I kept repeating that I shared it. It fit within my calories so why did I cheat on my rules and feel guilty during that conversation?
Ah well... it was a way of thinking for a long time. I suppose it is not out of the question for some remnants to remain. Still... I am a little embarrassed.
ETA: Even if it had not fit in my calories I should have never felt guilty.5 -
Sometimes I have pie or cake that I've made for breakfast so I don't risk running out of the calories for it. I figure it's not any worse than many breakfast foods8

I am a real ice cream buff. But years ago I changed to sherbert because it has fewer calories. Now I have changed to homemade fruit smoothies. I have one everyday and it is within my calorie goals and I never feel quilty. I think a lot of time we can tweak foods we love to make them a healthier version of the orginal and never miss the original. This works with a lot of things. In the summertime. I make popcicles and there are hardly any calories at all in the ones I make so I can eat as many as I want.4

This rarely works for me, personally. Nothing but rich ice cream does it for me. I make my own but never even attempted a low calorie one. I'm okay with that because my ice cream portion comes out at 150-250 calories, which is more than manageable for a snack. If having for dinner, it can even be double that or more. Tried popsicles, and without just as much sugar as store bought they come out icy. If you read my post above, it upsets me when I waste my calories, even if said wasted calories were on a lower calorie item.2 -

It’s funny, not long after the last time I saw you mention Tillamook I started getting ads that they’re entering Ohio. I haven’t seen it yet though.2 -

I've tried doing this before, subbing with other things, but found I'd rather just find ways to fit the real thing into my calorie goals. I may not have it as often, but it's often enough I can keep it going forever.5 -

Our minds are often harder to change than our bodies. At least you recognize that you didn't have anything to feel guilty about and didn't have to justify it to anyone, even yourself. Keep reminding yourself. You'll get there!3 -
Epic fail!
I'd rather sit and savor real full fat/full calorie real creamery ice cream, just budget it in.2 -
Ah the best ice cream in the world is Persian saffron rosewater. So good. Haagen Daaz vanilla swiss almond is my second favorite. I havent had them in a while.2
