I recently started using a Garmin Vivosmart HR (Today was the first full day). I linked it to MFP and it's giving me some outrageous exercise calories. I didn't do any intentional exercise today. I got 6791 steps total. I have MFP set to sedentary, so I did expect it to add some based on that, but it's added 1468 calories... Am I doing something wrong?

Stats: 43, 5'4", 208lbs, formerly sedentary, but trying to be more active now

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong if both are set the same? See if it settles down in a few days. The difference shown is the difference between MFP estimate and garmin, not for steps exactly. That’s just what it’s logged under. Also I’ve always had MFP set to maintain so not sure how the calorie deficit is accounted for between the two.

It's crazy how many calories it's suggesting. No way I'm going to eat all that lol

I just got my Garmin a couple of weeks ago and it has settled down somewhat. I overindulged a couple times last week but until then I was showing a downward trend eating back all or most of my Garmin calories. I'm around 3-4 lbs lighter than you and yesterday it gave me 644 calories for just over 11000 steps - which is roughly the difference between sedentary and active.
