Just an update! I got the Accu-chek Combo a little over a month ago and so far so good. I haven't gotten the courage to do the insertions myself yet--my husband has been helping me do them. I can totally see a difference in my levels, although I think I still need to tweak my basal since I still wake up a little high. I…

Salmon noodles??? Do you make them or buy them? I'm intrigued.

This makes me so happy. I am newly diagnosed, and before going into DKA and starting this new journey in life, my husband and I had literally just started trying to get pregnant. While I was in the hospital 2 months ago my A1C was 9.5, then in July I was at 7.1, and I go back to my endo in September for another A1C. My…

I use Levemir for my long lasting, and NovoLog at meals. The NovoLog stings if I do it too fast. A nurse told me that some of us are just more sensitive and will get a minor sting from them.

Hi everyone! I am newly diagnosed from May of this year. I went into DKA and was told that if the ambulance hadn't have been called I would have gone into a coma within a few hours. It was so scary and was in the hospital for 11 days, 5 of which was in the ICU where I was also suffering from Pancreatitis. Since then I've…

Just curious if you were able to raise enough money for your service dog? I'm currently doing research on getting one.

I live in 5 Points which is north of downtown, near SAC/San Pedro Park. Would love some new friends, so add me =) I'm an undergrad at OLLU for Social Work, trying to visit every dog park in town to get out of the house and let my dog have some fun.

Any good low cal/low sugar BBQ sauce out there?

I have to pay an extra $25 a day to rent a mini fridge in my hotel room (ridiculous!!!!) so thats my main dilemna. I love the tuna idea - never thought about the individual packets. That will help a lot. I am a poor college student - so eating out may be a problem because we will be in dowtown Dallas - so either really…

It seems like everyone cooks it in the microwave - is this the best way? Planning on making it tomorrow for dinner. Also - one poster said that once you cut it in half to put it face down into the water. Has anyone ever used flavored water or chicken stock. Or should I just keep it plain and season afterwards?

One of the coolest things I have ever read! Thank you so much - this will make Brinner Nite so much fun at my house.

I have to second the cottage cheese with baked potato - sooooo good! Can also use it instead of sour cream on tacos, OR if you make yourself a little wrap with spinach and a piece of lunch meat.

I've made it before with- Cherry Tomatoes cucumbers red onion broccoli slaw (sooooo good - usually by the coleslaw bags) and balsamic vinagrette and just a bit of feta. I think the broccoli slaw made it - good crunch and you're getting an extra veggie.

I've only been on here for a week - but would love for people to look at my diary. I'm really needing some support since my fiance is still eating "regular". (ohhh how I loathe the sound of a can of soda being opened!)
-
I got some of the 10 calorie sugar free Jell-O's - which help in a pinch when I just want to EAT something. Also I like cutting up an apple and dipping into a yogurt. I'm a big sauce person (chips and dip, fries with ketchup, steak with ranch dressing) so this helps that urge. I've also really gotten into hummus with baby…

When using the chickpeas in the can are you using the liquid or draining out? And if so, do you think rinsing them would help with the sodium or other yuckie things from the can?
