BBQ Sauce

I'm planning on making a big crockpot of shredded bbq chicken. Was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on good bottled BBQ sauce. I usually don't like the overly sweet thick kind. Also - any other ideas of stuff I can throw in with the chicken to "beef" it up.

Onions would be really good. I have a pulled/bbq pork recipe where you basically make the sauce with ketchup and stuff like that.. It also has onions.
  • Have always been a fan of Cattleman's or Sweet Baby Rays.
  • Any good low cal/low sugar BBQ sauce out there?

Sweet Baby Rays is the best!

We also like the barbeque sauces made by Pain is Good. I see them by our organic/health food section, but they can get hot. They have a hot meter on the side of the bottle.

Personally, I prefer to make my own bbq sauce, since I only use a little at a time. Also, most of the bottled bbq sauces that I've found contain HFCS, which I'm *trying* to avoid. I take

    2T brown sugar
    1T Worcestershire sauce
    1T soy sauce
1/2 tsp minced garlic (I've found that I prefer to use the garlic powder just so the consistency is the same)
1/4 tsp hot sauce (I usually don't add this)

    Mix

    I've also used:
1/2 cup catsup (make sure to get the one that doesn't contain sugar)
    2T brown sugar
    2T soy sauce
    1/2 tsp ginger
    1 clove garlic, minced

    Mix
