  • https://youtu.be/TmDRmr_KFu4 There's different opinions about sugar. Some say sugar is totally fine, especially given that our bodies run on glucose, as long as you eat a low fat diet. It's dietary fat that gets in the way of sugar absorption that leads to blood sugar swings and weight gain. Sugar by itself is fuel.…
  • Thanks for responding! I know handhelds aren't the most accurate. Although in Jan my handheld reading was pretty close to my water dunking result. Given handhelds are an approximation I just want to know if I'm *approximately* on track
  • I'm a 5'9" female started at 184. One person at work said something at 169, 15lbs. When I visited family, no mention at 10lbs, comment I look "more toned" at 20lbs, and "definitely lost weight" at 30lbs. Have to say even I am caught off guard looking at myself in photos (in a good way!)
  • Hells yeah! Quoting Durianrider by chance? lol
  • I just had dessert for breakfast. I will have another 1000 calorie dessert for lunch. I am getting lean by eating all the fruit I care for. Good riddance to calorie restriction (and subsequent cravings!! eek!) Look up Dr. Doug Graham, he has done this since 1978. He's not the only one but a prime example.
  • Okay, we all can agree to disagree. If you guys want to rely on the limits of selectively funded studies (usually by meat, dairy, other profitable industries) then go ahead an enjoy. You look great, and you're seeing your results. No wonder you think we're crazy. Just have to say, I bet your diet isn't nearly as tasty and…
  • You might want to ask if she's low fat vegan. If so, go along the lines of Fully Raw Kristina. Simplicity is best for digestion. When I'm a guest, I am SO grateful just for chopped veggies and nutty/herby puree! Be prepared to make a large quantity. I feel so bad when they go out of their way because it takes so much time…
  • I always break out when losing weight. I figure its toxins. I disagree with the "oil free" acne wash, because oils don't really matter here, you want something with drawing power, to get the oils out and away. Oil free just means its packed with chemicals and you don't want any more toxins! I recommend bentonite clay…
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpotY6rZL4o&list=PLzFqjFsMTDVHmpzvx2Urcu152koISfOMG I made my playlist public for anyone who wants to check out my favs. No particular order, and of course I only do 3 in a day max.
  • I love Tone It Up!! Hate to sound hipster about it, but I "loved them before they were famous" ahaha! Videos are short and fun! I especially like the old ones from 2010/2011. ALSO can't deny the Tae Bo with Billy Banks! Hahaha!
  • I've been sick for the past week, though no loss in appetite. Been eating normal, but only thing that's changed is not buying sugary foods! Well actually I ate a jar of raw honey instead!! Ooops. But besides that, I think leptin isn't the question here. You are not craving the sweet stuff because you've slightly broken…
  • I think weight has become such a taboo subject these days, with more people needing to lose weight, and most people wishing they were thinner themselves....it's easier to say "you look sick" than to give a genuine compliment. I've been stuck on this myself, I've said it jokingly not knowing how to compliment guys in…
  • Running! Love it or hate it, I believe its the "cure" to PCOS. Since you have a gym membership, run the treadmill, you don't have to do incline or anything, just doing sprints on there for a half hour every other day will make all the difference! If you have an iphone download Lolo beatburn and its actually so much fun...I…
  • Totally agree with truvia and cinnamon! Cinnamon is so good for you. I sweeten it only to counteract the bitterness. The more plain is best, because personally, I'd rather save my sweets and calories for evening time!! I love eating it as a blob on a plate, and eating around the edges. I make old fashioned oats and have…
  • oh okay. the eating breakfast and eating more frequently may not be true. I just support the protein part then haha I'll let you guys debate the rest :-)
  • wait, whats wrong with this post? obviously I didn't post it, but this is what most dietitians would say...and I know from experience... Whats so funny?
  • When I was losing weight in college, my perfect breakfast was [1/2 cup greek yogurt or 1/2 cup plain oatmeal or 1 egg] AND mint tea! It was all about the warm and filling mint tea, and the mental trick that I had eaten something substantial! Then food was truly out of my mind until lunch! But I agree, breakfast usually…
  • Few different answers: -MFP underestimates sugar, mostly referring to added sugar, and assuming a 2000 calorie diet -or...you shouldn't be eating that much fruit anyway...get the same vitamins from vegetables, fruit has been modified these days to contain more sugar than our ancestors had, and was much more difficult to…
  • I personally started using the Treadmill Beatburn app last March. I had never been a good runner. It uses your own music to cue you how fast to run. And they're intervals of walk/jog/walk/jog. Next thing you know you end your 30 minutes like, "I just ran that whole thing!" So that was March 2012, by June 2012 I jogged 6…
  • make pancakes!!! 1 scoop brown rice protein 1 tbsp flax seed 1 tbsp quick oats 2 tbsp egg whites 1/4 banana, mashed stevia cinnamon fry with coconut oil spray! i personally eat them as finger food, but you can use pure maple syrup or agave nectar if you like :-] ALSO! the original recipe is doubled this
  • You might want to check out adrenal fatigue. There's a lot of common symptoms. Edit: it could be adrenal hyperfunction http://www.womentowomen.com/adrenalhealth/symptoms-adrenalfatigue.aspx
  • I've been tracking with a couple other apps since August 2010. Actually used to be 20 pounds heavier than this, but I consider this a fresh start :) Don't assume that month under names is accurate, its easy to get a new account.
  • Exact same boat here. Been PCOS since puberty but I'm afraid its ovarian failure. I also looked into Hypothalamic Ammenorhea, which categorizes it in two ways. Either you are underweight, or your body has a different "ideal" weight. This can happen if you were overweight during puberty, or perhaps for a long time…
  • Yep, its oh so true! Some people who have used heart rate tracking devices to really tell how much they're burning versus eating, actually found they were eating too little when they plateaued. Once they ate more, boom! The weight came off! Eating for Beauty by David Wolfe has some radical suggestions to overthrow your…
  • I know plenty about the dangers of chemicals from corn. I know because I've had to. You know gluten intolerance? and how it came out of "nowhere"? Same story here, but this kept under wraps for our government's economy. Such chemicals are not bad in low doses, but we all get low doses as it is, so when we add more we are…
  • Just a side note: You want to be as kind to your body as possible, and this means eating naturally. I'm sure you're sick of hearing this, but anything augmented to have less sugars and fats, are chemicals. You may lose weight, and be lighter but you won't be any healthier than eating a tub of haagen dazs. Just as much…
  • I realized last year when I lost a lot of weight I was also drinking a lot of tea! Nettle tea has a way of filling you up
  • MFP always overestimates carbs. Maybe its a reflection of our carb-loving society, I don't know. Carbs should be 55% or less...always personalize your nutrient goals, especially this one if no other. As for fats, you can go up to 30% just choose healthy ones.
  • Hi! I'm mostly vegetarian, only eating chicken and turkey on a rare occasion. I just don't like it haha! But yeah! Love to be friends and swap ideas.
