  • I'm guessing that you're trying to tackle too much at one time. Make a few small changes that will be sustainable even when you get busy. Allow those changes to become habits and then make some more changes. Build a healthy lifestyle over time.
  • I'd better not post any pictures of our guinea pigs!
  • Cat BMI = box mass index?
  • I also agree!!! There are too many armchair endocrinologists on the internet who have never actually treated a diabetic patient. Unfortunately the topic of diabetes gets hits and sells books and that drives people without much (or any) expertise to write about it.
  • As long as your clothes are relatively clean and sort of fit, it really doesn't matter.
  • Looks like she needs to start lifting.
  • I used to make all the parenting & household jobs more important than either myself or my husband. I tried to be more efficient when I really needed to was to revise my priorities so I had time to be healthy. The two biggest changes we've made are to limit the kid activities (especially the ones that require travelling)…
  • At this height and weight you're not going to stand out, if that is what you are worried about. At the gym I go to there are people who probably weigh twice what you do.
  • So many great answers here. I would add: Not eating enough protein. Demonizing certain foods or food groups and then thinking if people just stop eating those foods they will lose weight. Not planning for treats. Blaming others for what they eat and/or expecting coworkers, family & friends to make big changes because they…
  • You're welcome! Trust me when you've got multiple fractures, you want all the pain medicine you're entitled to especially when they start rotating your body for x-rays! (Glad I can laugh about this now.)
  • I used to avoid the scale too and then I was in a car accident. In the ambulance they asked me how much I weighed so they could give me the correct amount of pain medicine. I didn't know so I just guessed and the number I gave was way too low. It wasn't until I was heading in to surgery days later that they finally got an…
  • I would add to this that if you are not losing you should actually log your calories in some way each day. Counting in your head can easily lead to inaccuracies plus you don't have information that you can refer back to. Also it is important to check the foods you regularly eat for caloric changes. There is one item I eat…
  • You'll never know what sort of relationship might be possible with this person until you talk to them about it.
  • Just let go of all those number from the past. Focus on what you achieving now and focus on the positive things you are doing. It is so easy to feel guilty about the past but it doesn't get you anywhere.
  • I'm certainly not an expert but I'm wondering if taking self defense classes might help you to feel more not as panicked around men? If you were confident that you could defend yourself, maybe you wouldn't feel as dependent on the weight for protection?
  • 2400-2500 sounds right on track. Keep us posted on your progress this month!
  • So your data tells us that about 25% of the time you eat over 3000 calories. Despite this you've lost about 2 lbs per month. That makes me wonder if your goal of 2200 calories might be a little low and if that might be the reason you are regularly going over 3000? I would go back and look at how many calories you have…
  • Just don't expect that in 8 weeks people are going to start commenting. As another post said, most people avoid this topic. I've lost 24 pounds in 25 weeks and other than my immediate family, only one other person has commented on it.
  • I really believe one of the keys is not overthinking this. Eat at a deficit, exercise some and then go live your life. Make time to do things you enjoy and be with people you like. Over time the weight will come off. I am a person who used to dwell on things so I know that I have to manage my thoughts. If I spent a lot of…
  • This has happened in my house but in the end the cats always end up fleeing from the piggies.
  • Actually based on the OP's definition I think it means we have failed to win wait.
  • I had stopped logging my food because I thought I had a good idea of how many calories I was eating. Then my weight lose slowed way down and I decided to start logging again. I soon realize that I wasn't correctly remembering how many calories are in some of my favorite foods. In one case I was off by 300 calories!
  • I leave the gym and realize I have no clue where I parked. (This is true!)
  • You've lost it before, you can lose it again. This time make it a lifestyle that you can sustain.
  • I can only support you if you commit to clean brushing. (You'll find the paleo toothpaste in the perimeter of the grocery store, not in the aisles.)
  • It is bad if you don't share. Did you bring enough cookies for all of us?
  • My husband said it is a pool of water but it isn't very deep. If you get there early in the morning, the line isn't very long.
  • There is Wi-Fi on the Fantasy but it isn't free. Last year I paid $50 for one hour of use which we split with another family. They did warn us about the possibility of roaming charges on the islands. For our party, St. Thomas wasn't an issue because it is a US island and it was covered by our phone plans. On St. Martin we…
  • A lot of times now I just go for 30 minutes. If I was trying to go for longer periods of time I wouldn't end up going very often. Also having a gym that is close by helps.
  • We switched from bigger square plates to smaller round plates and smaller bowls. It really has made a difference for my husband and for me.
