  • my hubs is type I diabetic (40 year diabetic but you'd never know it) so i understand your troubles. :) you're on the right track! it might be a little daunting at first, but it gets easier and easier as you get going and figure things out. stay strong and determined- you'll get there.
  • at the gym i dont care (unless im doing yoga, and thats mainly because theres not a direction i can bend without pointing my *kitten* at someone.) but at home i have to confine hubs to another room while i zumba or whatever. he likes to go in and watch and be silly. hes not making fun of me, but it still makes me self…
  • sweet potato, black beans (spiced w/cumin and chipotle), rotel tomatoes (or store brand) some salsa and bacon (or turkey bacon which is about half the price) and maybe a little cheese. I miss this one, but hubs can't eat beans anymore. roast a chicken (or get the chicken quarters- a little more work to skin and debone, but…
  • halloween is a great time to stock up on fun size candies. smarties, sweettarts, sprees, the little sugar pellets. i find that the more intense the flavor is, the faster it's calms that sugar craving. that or a tiny bit of really good chocolate. no need to dive face first into a candy bowl. :)
  • i wear them because i live in the south and july is regularly 100 degrees outside. and who likes wet stinky fabric bunched up in their armpits while they are trying to do something? Not this gal. In fact if my gym was cool with me working out in my undies i totally would. because their a/c sucks and it gets hot in there.…
  • sounds like me. :) my family used to call me "the brick sh**house"-meant as a compliment somehow. I can laugh about it now because I know what they meant -not so much at 15 years old. I'm not really that tall- 5'6 but I am built...like an old pin-up girl really i guess. :) Last year when I was at my skinniest (152) I was…
  • that amount might be fine if you just sat on the couch all day but seriously? that's why. you're eating enough to sustain life, and then burning it all off. it's great that you enjoy activity-keep doing it. but feed yourself. unless your doc has some sound nutrition background (and isn't one of those weight loss clinic…
  • if you're hungry, have a snack (nuts or trail mix are pretty great.) bananas are also good (but not very filling for me.) or also greek yogurt is pretty good. if you're blood sugar is getting weird and you need something quick, my choice is milk or chocolate milk. sometimes the vending machines in the gym have it. it's got…
  • try let downs and arm hangs first. i was doing aerials for a while and the pull ups were the only solid part of my game there. every time i would walk under the pull up bar in my kitchen door, i'd do a pull up and hang as long as i could, then let it go slow. then do another if i thought i could. some days i'd get two or…
  • if i do yoga 3 or 4 times a week within a month or two i feel like i get pretty flexible...for me. i'm about as bendy as a tree trunk. :( but if i use a foam roller along with it and really work on my problem areas like my calves, hamstrings and hip flexors, it works A LOT faster. i also try to use what one instructor…
  • i had a string of these a few months ago and it started with a bad pull in my inner thigh. then i got a muscle spasm in my back then one in my hip. epsom salts baths and foam rolling along with ibuprofen to take down the inflammation helped immensely in the first couple of days. muscle relaxers also help a bit. :) i got…
  • i have done the wii yoga- it's actually how i started doing yoga in the first place. it's pretty basic- no contortions or arm balances or anything like that. mostly standing poses and you can always adjust to your ability level. it does measure your balance on the board, which i found can be distracting but helpful in…
  • that's a lot of walking! :) it's awesome!!! it sounds like you're goals are achievable- keep at it!
  • greek yogurt with granola or fruit. that or a clif bar. but only about 45-60 minutes before hand. and my b-complex vitamin. :)
  • it happened to my husband at the ymca a couple of years ago. he was 6 months out of back surgery and finally go the nod from his surgeon to swim and that's it. he was slow, with questionable form and some other guy around his age i guess was giving him sh** for swimming. with a 4 inch angry red incision scar hanging out…
  • I AM SO THRILLED I'M NOT THE ONLY WOMAN THAT CAN USE A REGULAR HAMMER WITHOUT IT NEEDING TO BE PINK. thank you for saying that.....
  • the HIIT workout I do is only 7 minutes, but it's 30 seconds of work (hard as you can- where HI comes in) followed by 10 seconds of rest (where I really just stand still gasping). it's a mix of alternating cardio and resistance. I've also done intervals on the treadmill 1:1 intervals but then had to do some resistance…
  • if you have breaks at your office, go for a walk, fast as you can. if you can graze at work, walk on your lunch break. ive been doing it for 2 years now and it's been working pretty well. you can also download a 7 minute HIIT workout. that's been working pretty well too- I'm trying to figure out how to do it at work…
  • that's what i do for lunches and breakfast. for dinners though eating out of the freezer isn't always ideal. for dinners, usually have chicken that I've cooked on the weekend. Then you can make tacos, soup, salad, whatever it is you do with chicken. beef cooks up pretty fast as does pork as long as your doing steak or…
  • i tried it a couple of times. first- the expense was a bit high rent for me. it was a lot easier if you bought their prepacked stuff, but holy cow that gets expensive fast. second- the points are easy to game/don't work across multiple portions. what they say is 2 points is two points for exactly one serving. if you eat 2…
  • so this. this this thisity this....
  • i have to graze all day. i also eat more protein and fat, cut back a little on the carbs. i do eat them but i get them mostly from veggies and grain, fruit. not so much breads.also- drink your water. i find if i eat carby breakfast, it kinda sets the tone for the whole day. i crave them endlessly. if i save it more for…
  • I downloaded carrot fitness a few days ago. It's the same workout as I've seen published elsewhere online but with a few little extras ???? it tracks weight and your workouts, has achievements to unlock. It's fun. And holy cow it'll make you sweat. And 7 minutes is pretty heard to talk yourself out of so it works for me.…
  • you are right they aren't the same. :) you wouldn't go into the practice if you didn't care and want to help. docs are great people (for the most part, there's an a**hole in every group.) and i have my gripes with the referral system we seem to have developed where a doc won't even give stitches anymore. (when the hell did…
  • i feel for ya girl. my hubs has had mystery GI issues for a couple of years now. one things that helps calm the crams and nausea is ginger carrot soup. it sounds weird but it's actually pretty tasty. another thing we had to try was gluten free, lactose free, no coffee. so basically your on an elimination diet. only eat the…
  • xxantiheroxx- next time you run into a fat person or someone with a physical abnormality in the real world, make sure and tell them how gross you think that is and that they should get some plastic surgery. make sure and tell them it's nothing personal and you're totally not judging them as person, but really that's gross…
  • unfortunately, you're going to have to take it slow. just try to maintain at this point because you're body is in overdrive trying to heal. let it do that. watch your calories and do the exercises they let you do. eat well, stay hydrated, and do what the docs tell you. if you don't you're going to be much worse off in 5…
  • not lazy so much as just exhausted to my bones the day before or day of. sometimes a few days before. and the carb cravings. oh god it's brutal. the day of or after i snap right back and feel great. the cramps settle into my right hip though. that' started in the last couple of years. yoga helps a little for that. but…
  • i have never been thin. EVER. I've lost some weight and now i have bones sticking out I've never seen. Like collarbones and cheekbones and a little hip action too. I need a little input on where to stop. I don't have an eating disorder thanks. Nor do I need to be told to lift weights, because i know how to change my body…
