Sometimes if I'm daydreaming/spaced out I think I look really annoyed. Ha ha. I actually scared a teacher at my old college who thought I was giving him evil looks. It's a curse!

Hi, I'm also in my early 30s (33). Also looking to get healthier and gain confidence. I've been here 50 days and log in every day. Feel free to add me! :)

'Everything in moderation, including moderation' - great quote! I'll (try to) remember that one. :) I want a Pop Tart now.

Wow! Congratulations and well done! :) Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. :)

Another shortie here with less to lose but a very high body fat percentage as I have a tiny frame. I'm here daily. Feel free to add me if you'd like to. Good luck. You will do this!

Thanks! Much appreciated. It's good to hear good reports of 30DS.
-
Wow! Well done! You can really see a big difference. Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing your photos. :)
-
Thank you both. That really helps! :) I'll check out Level 1 on YouTube and see how I get on, but it sounds like I should have enough space. :)
-
Thanks for replying! I'll take it one step at a time. My ambition is to get to love exercise and being healthy (like you do). I really want that. Best wishes!
-
Thank you! I really appreciate your advice. I will start slowly. Best wishes!

Is your goal 1200 because that's what MFP set it to? MFP did that for me and when I used a TDEE calculator, I found that I was eating way too little. You can find out your TDEE here: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html and then calculate a deficit and set your goal to that number. Don't set your…

Thank you so much. This is really helpful! :)

OK, thank you very much!
-
Thank you so much! 10% fat was the recommendation but I thought it sounded low too. I will increase it. Thanks again! :)
-
Thank you. I am doing a little every day and I will carry on that way and gradually increase. Many thanks! :)
-
I hope someone can give me some sensible advice. I'd be so grateful.

Hi, I am looking to do something similar (my weight isn't actually that bad but it's all fat and it's all in the wrong places). I want to burn the flab and tone up so I expect in the end my weight won't be much different from what it is now, it's just that currently I consist of tiny bones and lots of flab. Could I add you…

Please don't limit yourself to 1000 calories a day. That's not a healthy eating plan, that's serious under-eating. I'm also 5' 3" and I am currently aiming to eat TDEE minus a 15% deficit every day, plus eating back exercise calories. Why don't you try that?

Who knew there was such a babe underneath it all? :) You look fabulous. Congratulations and well done! Your partner, if you have one, must be extremely happy!

I worry about the same (former sufferers of anorexia coming here and obsessing about their food diaries and having their progress impeded).
-
I don't comment negatively and wouldn't encourage anybody else to.
-
Just to reiterate: I am very careful to take this into account: We all have our healthy minimum calorie requirement, depending on our height, age, activity, etc. and of course there's no 'one size fits all' calorie goal. I am talking only about people who are anorexic. I won't assume they are without clear evidence, and…

I agree. The only difference between the two unhealthy attitudes to food is that MFP is set up to give you a pat on the back if you eat under your calorie goal which is fine for most of us but dangerous for someone with/fighting an under-eating disorder.
-
No problem. I really wanted to get this out there. Thanks for replying!

It does but, while for those of us without eating disorders, this is a warning, for an anorexic this = further kudos.

Yes, I've started to leave notes if I've gone over (this is both for my future reference and for my MFP friends) and I'd do the same if I was under by more than a little (although I expect this will only be if I'm ill or very stressed).
-
I'm fairly often a bit under my goal as well but you EAT and so do I, we don't have anorexia. My concern is the people who do, and who are congratulated for it.
-
Bump. (I want to get this out to as many people as possible.)
-
That's very sweet of you. I think MFP should have a system in place for contacting members who are clearly suffering with eating disorders (and not trying to combat them) and suggesting options for help and support to deal with them. As you say, we can do our best to make sure we're not supporting people to maintain an…
