Advice needed on 30 Day Shred

I've been too scared to do the 30DS but I can see it really works. I have a very very small amount of space to exercise in and I wondered if this is an issue. Also, what do I need to buy (weights, etc)? If anyone can help me and give me some more information/inspiration to buy the DVD, that would be great!

Thanks and best wishes to all of you for your MFP challenges! :)

I'm halfway through 30DS, so I can only speak to Levels 1 and 2, but I doubt the space requirements are very different for Level 3. So far, at least, it doesn't need a lot of room--you have to be able to stretch your arms out and move them without hitting anything, lie down with your legs extended, and move side to side and front/back maybe 6 or 8 feet at most.

The only equipment you need is a set (or two) of hand weights, and a mat if your floor is hard. I've read of people using bottles of water or cans of food if they can't get weights, but if you can spare the cash a set of 3 or 5 pound weights can usually be had for about $8-$12 at Target or TJ Maxx. I use 3, 5, and 8 (rarely!) pound weights depending on exercise, but I had them all on hand before I got the DVD.

I'm close to goal weight so am losing pounds verrrry slowly right now, and was skeptical that a 20-minute workout would make a huge difference given that I was already running a fair amount and taking Pilates classes. But it really has seemed to shake things up--I measured today, and have lost an inch off my waist and hips, and nearly an inch off my calves and thighs.

Level 1 of 30DS is posted on Youtube. Check it out to decide if you want to purchase the CD. I use 5 lb weights. You need enough space to be able to do jumping jacks (incl. height) and at least enough floor space to be able to lay down on a yoga or fitness mat.
30DS is excellent although I need a bit more of a warm up than the DVD allows for. I have a pinched nerve in my neck which affects my left arm, so I am careful and usually perform the modifed version of the moves.
    Hope this helps.

Thank you both. That really helps! :) I'll check out Level 1 on YouTube and see how I get on, but it sounds like I should have enough space. :)

I LOVE 30DS! It's a very good starting point. Very simple and easy to customize depending on your fitness level. I definitely recommend getting a couple different sets of weights, though, or maybe just a set of 5 lbs and fill a couple of water bottles to stand in for lighter ones. Some of the exercises were nearly impossible for me to start out with 5 lbs, but I eventually worked my way up to heavier weights. They use 3-pound weights in the videos, but I don't think they challenge you enough on some of the moves.

Enough space to stretch your body out in, to do push ups, squats, lunges in. You need to do jumping jacks so don't stand under a ceiling fan. For weights, I started with 3lb, those were good. On my second round, I used 5. They need to be heavy enough to add resistance, but not so heavy that you break good form.
