  • I think it really depends on the quality of the trainer. I have used a few at the big box gyms and they were only useful for making me feel like I had to go since I had made an appt and paid money. They also watched and corrected my form most of the time. However, it wasn't until I joined a small weight gym whose sole…
  • I've also been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and possibly adrenal fatigue. Just recently switched from Nature-Thyroid to Synthroid & Cytomel since the NT increased my free T3 levels too much. I'm still trying to figure out how to reduce the fatigue so I can concentrate better at work and not crave naps so often. The weight…
  • Also look into Magnesium. A little research seems to indicate that 80% of adults are deficient and I've seen a reviews from a multitude of people taking the supplement for muscle cramps with positive results.
  • Currently I take 1500mg a day. 1000mg at night and 500mg in the AM. When I first started taking it, I would get really bad stomach cramps, especially in the middle of the night. Then once I upped from 1000mg(PM) to an additional 500mg in the morning, I felt really fatigued. But I think that it just takes about a month to…
  • Wow, ladies! These are really fantastic results and super inspirational!
  • Impressive results! You look super feminine and toned! How long did it take you to start seeing the changes?
  • Great Job! Everything looks lifted and toned!
  • Great advice! Seems so simple, but I know it will be impactful because I won't be eating and my house will be cleaner! Win-Win!
  • Love this thread! Keep it up ladies!
  • Keep posting, ladies! I just started with a trainer on June 8th. Going 3x a week, trying to build up to lifting heavy. I am desperate for the motivation and inspiration you all provide!
  • You all look great! Loving the inspiration!
  • I guess I mean any number of noticeable changes: initially I was thinking reductions in inches/weight loss. But now that you ask, I also mean confidence gains in the workouts, strength improvements, muscle definition, energy increases, etc. Whatever change is meaningful to whomever chooses to respond to my question. :)
  • Wow Karen! That's incredible! Nice work! I don't know much about Crossfit beyond that it's pretty intense. Is it a daily workout?
  • To finish a 5K in less than 25 minutes. To wear jeans in a single digit size. To have the boundless energy fit people brag about, especially in the morning and even without coffee. To feel confident in a bikini for the first time in my life. To get to the top of the 3rd floor stairs at work, while carrying my laptop bag,…
  • Thanks for the input, guys.
  • Even though I am only 5'8, I have the same trouble (v. long legs/short waisted). I have found that 90% of the time, I have to order pants. VERY RARELY can I just walk into a store and find something long enough in stock. I've lost count of the number of items I've had hems let out in (pants/coat sleeves/etc.) One of my…
  • Thanks! I think one of my first questions involves the number of calories and grams of carbs...they both seem a bit high to me. Perhaps I have read too much over the years on the plethora of popular diets, but when I do the calculations on the IIFYM.com site, it suggests 1618 calories a day and 215g carb/101g protein/40g…
  • You've inspired me! I can't seem to get past week one of 30DS, but I'm about your height (5'8.5") and almost the same build as your before. Your after is fantastic and I would be so happy to look like that!
  • I'm also 5'8.5" and am hoping for 135-145. I have been 135 before and liked how slender I felt, but I didn't really have any muscle tone. I am curious this time around to see what is ideal when I start lifting. Currently around 155lbs (down from about 195lbs last year) and plan to restart SL5x5 after I finish my first half…
  • January 19th - Key West 5K (placed 3rd in my age group!) March 1st - Retro Run 5K April 27th - Nike Women's Half in DC - My first half marathon!!!
  • I swear by it! I started the program in October and ran my first 5K on my 'graduation day' in December. And I finished it without walking, despite it being around 30F and snowing the whole time! Since then I have run 2 more, the 2nd of which I placed 3rd in my age group. I should preface this saying that I have NEVER been…
  • That's so cute! I bet my best friend would LOVE that -- Although I am sure she never gets cold enough running in the balmy warmth of Sarasota, FL. ;)
  • Thanks! I think I am good to go gear-wise! I have Under Armour Cold Gear tights and a compression shirt, as well as a merino Buff, fleece headband (although I really like that purple one with the ponytail opening!), a pair of Asics and gloves. I also invested in a jacket from Road Runner that has padding on the front only…
  • I just started SL5x5 last week (and finishing week 4 of C25K today). Fingers crossed I'll get to see some of the same amazing results as everyone here!
  • This one is plentiful on ingredients, but soooooo worth it! I add a little adobo sauce from a can of chipotle chilies as well as a bag of frozen corn. Then I top it with fat-free plain greek yogurt and a little cilantro. YUM!!!! Turkey and White Bean Chili Ingredients 1 tablespoon canola oil 2 cups diced yellow onion…
  • Congrats! You look fantastic! Cheers to your renewed health and continued progress!
  • Perhaps I should search first before asking :embarassed: I just found this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1115786-cold-weather-running-tips?hl=cold+weather+running&page=1#posts-17294244
  • I just started (and finished) week one yesterday. It surprised me how much I enjoyed it! I've signed up for a holiday 5K on December 8th so that I have a set goal in mind and invested in having my stride analyzed to buy a really good pair of shoes. I think my biggest challenges will be adapting to being outside as it gets…
  • I'm 5'8 1/2" and I'd like to be around 140-145. At one point I got down to 135lbs and loved, but I am not sure that is reasonable to maintain with an extra 10+ years of age tacked on. Ideally my first major goal is for all of my old pants to fit again, which would be at around 158lbs. SW: 195 CW: 167 GW:145
  • I just finished L1D1 tonight too! I had it shipped overnight after seeing so many amazing results on here. I've been diligently doing high intensity intervals for 40+ mins a day, 6days a week on the elliptical for a month in addition to keeping to 1200-1400 calories, but the scale won't budge. :( I'm hoping this will help,…
