this was really interesting. what I find fascinating is that there are people who think this piece of molecular machinery came together by accident.

I am having good luck with the Total Gym, you can buy them used pretty cheap cause a lot of folks stop using home gyms quickly. you can also buy a regular Matt Pilates Reformer. try amazon or Craigs list if you are ok saving money and buying used. that's what I did and I got one that was like new. very happy with it.

Your cravings belie your assertion that you have 'strong will-power'. I think you need to address the issue of developing will power first.

I buy the whole grain at sprouts, health food store here in So Cal. I've not found it expensive. for rinsing or blanching, I find it works pretty well just to leave the quinoa in a pot of water over night. ALOT of the stuff just comes off with no effort. but if you're in a hurry, it's boil, pour off, rinse, repeat, and…

It's not that hard. open up your diary and we'll look at it but my guess is that you're not actually doing what you insist you are doing. If you limit carbohydrates to under 100 grams a day it's almost impossible to gain fat. so open up the diary and let's see what you're actually doing, or say you're doing. yes, invest in…

I agree with what has been said here but would suggest the following to 'simulate' the illusion of 'spot' reducing: - Go Low Carb as best you can. if you can even just get the bread, sugar, fruit juices (at least) and alcohol out of your diet that would be a great start. - Reducing bread and starch will allow you to lose…

Never juice. you turn otherwise healthy fruits and vegetables into sugar water. you don't need the carbohydrates. there is nothing healthy about juicing. the loss of fiber raises your triglycerides. don't bother. eat low carbohydrate whole foods.

can't say, she's an MFP member and it will ruin the surprise

Everybody argues with you. doctors argue, friends argue, the AMA argues, the Department of Agriculture, etc etc. when I tried it, and my wife tried it, it worked, and everybody still argues with us that it won't work, it's unsustainable, it will raise our cholesterol, we'll get cancer, it's immoral to eat meat etc etc.

Obviously if you cut the carbs you do cut the calories. the purpose to reducing carbs is to reduce the amount of insulin in your bloodstream since insulin is the hormone which builds adipose (i.e. fat) tissue, it makes sense to not give insulin the chance to store more fat for you since it is fat that you are trying to…

It's true that some of the original research on the success of low carb diets came from doctors researching epilepsy but I want to be sure you're not also managing epilepsy. can you clarify? I've not found doctor's knowledgeable on low carb diets. best to educate yourself. the stomach burning is something else entirely.…

well you need to open your diary and need to give us a few more facts. I'm not sure what you weigh, what your body fat % and muscle mass % is and such. your story lacks all the facts necessary to give any constructive ideas. also, you mention medications and such but without insight into what these are and what they are…

I use the keto calculator on line for this and it seems pretty accurate to me depending all on your objectives. it's designed to help us MFP folks customize the goals section from the defaults.

you can eat all the eggs you want. you don't increase blood cholesterol through dietary cholesterol. Read Chapter 9 Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Staub

The mythology around sodium is amazing. Sodium can't hurt you. It doesn't cause heart attacks, water retention and it doesn't keep away evil spirits if poured on the floor around your pentagram. eat normal food. your body will figure out the sodium it needs.

I looked at your daily goal and your carb count goal is 176. take it to 100. you're retaining water.

Cetaphyl, my dermatologist recommended it. It's cheap and it works.

Easy, take one cup of uncooked oatmeal. Throw it away. Add one pound of rib-eye steak. broil medium rare. EAT. (oats are for ruminants).

I wouldn't suggest running at this height and weight. I think the risk of back and knee injury is too high at this weight. I'd suggest walking laps in the pool, walking, moving to low carb diet plan, and getting your weight down quite a bit before running. the physics of running is just hard and running is injury prone. I…

On Low Carb with moderate exercise it's very easy. it's what I do. However, I do weight myself daily AND I don't keep a set of 'fat' clothes around. all my suits and slacks are sized to the weight I want to maintain so as soon as something feels snug, regardless of what the scale says, I change course.

congratulations.

I keep carbs at about 50 grams a day but eat the carbs as quinoa for breakfast only so that by night time, the carbs are through. so for night time I'm in ketosis regardless.
-
buy clothes now and celebrate success. the trick is giving away the fat clothes often and never turning back. you might wait until a few after Christmas sales but don't wear a fat suit for the holidays or new years.

try truvia as an alternative to sugar.

I looked at your goals and your diary. I'd agree with those who suggest increasing protein and fat and reducing carbohydrates. you don't seem to be using ketosis to any extent. you might try the keto calculator and reset your MFP goals around that. I'd take carbohydrates down to about 75 grams per day, you seem to be over…

The body releases insulin when the sugars released from carbohydrates are in the bloodstream. Insulin is the hormone in the body that 'stores fat', i.e. converts sugars to stored fat. Insulin is the only hormone in the body that stores fat. all other hormones digest stored fat for energy. so essentially a low carb diet…
