LOL In the town where I grew up, there was one intersection where the stop sign was hung from a wire overhead -- just like traffic lights normally are. I didn't drive down that street often, but almost every time I did, I sat there waiting for that stop sign to turn green!

Mistress of the Art of Death was an amazing book! The ending is....intense. Hope you like it as much as I did! Lately I've been re-reading old Alastair McLean books -- South by Java Head, River of Death, and now Athabasca. Some of the paperback copies I have used to belong to my grandfather, who died almost 25 years ago,…

If you're suddenly burning an extra 800 calories a day, without changing your intake, you might be eating too little. This can prompt your metabolism to slow down to conserve what it has. (This is sometimes called "starvation mode," but I think that "conservation mode" might be a better name.) It's hard to eat more when…

Just another thought -- could she be struggling with depression? When I'm going through a difficult stretch with that ongoing battle, getting anything other than absolute routine stuff done seems impossible. When she says she's doing all she can, she may mean that literally. She's doing as much as she can do, even if it…

We got engaged in December 1990, when we had been together almost 2 years. I was 23 and he was 24. We'd met in January of 1989 and started dating, then I graduated from college in May of that year, and we began a very long, long-distance relationship! We got married in October 1994, when I was 27 and he was 28. We lived in…

I grew up in Raleigh, NC, but now I live in north-central PA -- close enough to the NY state line that I can walk to places in NY, and I do, when the weather's better! (Unfortunately, one of those places is a great ice cream stand! At least they close for the winter...)

Thanks! I appreciate your appreciation! :blushing:

Speaking as a math teacher (geometry, abstract algebra, and history of math -- definitely *not* statistics), I want to point out the thought process here because it's really useful and might help you with other questions later in the course. You're asked to show something -- in this case, that the distribution is *not…

I haven't either. I haven't seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," either...

Been to Boston in the Fall. (With a nod to VeggieTales!) It always seems to be August when I get to Boston...

The last time I was there (2006), you could picnic on the grounds, but outside the park gates -- they had picnic areas between where you park the car and where you actually enter the park itself. We found that it worked well to pack a picnic in a cooler, leave it in the rented van, and then just come out to the van and eat…

Sounds like a big victory to me! Be proud! :flowerforyou:

I have two boys. While I'd love to have a girl, the two of them keep me very busy. Two are enough for me!

What a great Non-Scale Victory! Enjoy the pants and the great feeling you get wearing them.

I think sometimes people are afraid to say anything for fear of sounding like they're saying, "Man, you used to be really fat!" Commenting on something as personal as body size can be tricky, I think, especially for people who aren't really close -- coworkers, for example. Before I started seriously losing weight, I would…

Pretty much anything by Skinny Cow -- they range from 100 to 130 calories, I think. Vanilla yogurt with SF chocolate syrup stirred in. Frozen grapes.

I just tried that (Googling it), and the only thing I found was this thread!

I'd suggest taking it easy for the weekend, at least. You could call your regular doctor on Monday for more advice. Just remind yourself that damaged kidneys will limit your activity level for far longer than waiting for this UTI to clear. Good luck! :ohwell:

Could you buy an inexpensive easel and put it in a corner of the room?
