An amazing transformation! I love how you look happier during the progression. Keep up the great work and you'll be there in no time. :))

Be sure you're eating healthy fats: olive oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, nuts, avocado. Canola oil doesn't really have a taste so I drizzle some on my veggies after they're done cooking. Also add in any oil you use when cooking.

It's not going to be easy and you're not going to be perfect but decide right now that you're going to stick with it no matter what. Then do it! Best of luck.

That's great! You can really see the difference in your face.

We tend to lose muscle as we age, which causes the older person to burn less calories unless they've been strength training.

Great article. Thanks for posting. I love my shoulders. :)

Some or most of the weight you gained in July was probably water weight, which can come off pretty quick when you start eating healthy again. Great job getting back on the wagon! :)

I wish I'd seen this before I ran this morning. My face and take top were soaked in sweat! lol

I have to agree with sophjakesmom. You got up this morning and went. That's a huge win! Remember, this is a lifestyle change. You can't be perfect all the time and your efforts won't last long if you think you have to be.

A banana 30 minutes before running keeps me going without sitting heavy in my stomach.
-
You look like a totally different person. Great work!!! I bet it feels good. :)

I was having the same problem a few weeks ago. I attributed it to weak ankles but found that a new pair of running shoes help immensely. I think the padding in my old pair was a little too worn out.

LAW623, Looking at your food diary, you're kinda setting yourself up for binges by not eating enough during the day. I looks as if you're on a "diet" rather than making lifestyle changes. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like.

Change your weekly weight loss goal to "maintain" for a couple of weeks so you won't have as much pressure while you work through this. When you get to the angry stage, and you will, remember that the best revenge is being healthy and happy without her. Then you'll be ready to get back to it.

Shop from the bulk bins. I get better prices on brown rice, steel cut oats, etc because they're not charging for the packaging and advertising.

Your water is awfully low; you could be dehydrated with all the working out and Bakersfield can get pretty hot. You're calories also seem low. I'm 5'0 and have been eating 1300-1500 calories and have been losing .5-1 lb/week. Your body may be in starvation mode with all the exercise.
-
Take measurements. Sometimes it can be more encouraging than the scale.
-
You may not be eating quite enough considering the added exercise. If you're eating less than 1200 calories, you may be putting your body into starvation mode so that it is holding onto the calories. Try changing your settings to 1 lb/week. Also be sure to drink lots of water.

I was wondering the same thing myself this weekend.

If you're exercising, focus on your measurements for awhile rather than the scale.

I found this on Dr. Pascatore's blog: "Dr. P's segment "Cure Your Sweet Tooth" on the Rachael Ray show is scheduled to air Thursday, July 21." It goes over the Three Day Sugar Detox. Dr. Pascatore is also the author of The Hampton Diet.

I'm not a big protein bar fan either...I prefer to eat "real" food. :) When I do grab a protein bar, I go with the Think Thin bars because they have 0g of sugar but still taste sweet.

One rule of thumb I use is that it goes in one color and comes out another, your body is having to process it so it's not water.

My mom had a similar issue with her gym. She lives in a small town and they weren't using the AC in certain parts of the building to keep electric bills down. Eventually, they closed the gym from noon-4pm. She ended up finding another gym but it was more expensive.

I know it's hard when you only have 1200 calories a day. I didn't see any fruits or dairy. I would say add fruits and veggies to each meal, not just in the evening, add some yogurt or milk to get more calcium, and switch to high fiber carbs such as grains and whole wheat rather than the saltines and pie crust.

I agree with starting with the H2O and iron theories.

You just killed my excuses for not running. Thanks! ::smile:

Congratulations, Dara! The results are amazing and an inspiration for sticking with the routine no matter how killer it is. Way to Go!
