  • I try to keep my carbs lower than avg - a LOT on MFP are low carbers! I mostly try to keep around 30% and no refined carbs.
  • I love that cake is in your picture.. I love carbs, but alas, I too must cut back. Goes against my running logic..
  • I have to stay up late in my lounge on my laptop, editing a paper to turn in tomorrow morning - because I spent some time shopping and working out this afternoon. Laptop, post-graduate degree, living abroad, shopping... all while taking a "year off" from working /firstworldproblem
  • Blend it with strawberries and agave nectar (or honey or maple syrup) and throw it in the freezer - then you have "ice cream"
  • baked kale crisps it is - thanks all!

  • I am in the same boat as you adera... the other day I was saying how much simpler it was at 23 to make the scale move a few pounds here or there... whereas at 28 (as of last week) it's a huge battle. But logging the meals and consistent exercise and it'll be good! Just gotta stick to it! Holidays are tough, my goal is to…
  • Great job! Double bonus :) Love the name... mmm, jaffa cakes (things I didn't know about until I moved back to the UK..)
  • workout videos are the best when the gym isn't an option! 30DS is good, as it's only 20 minutes (if you can stand Jillian Michaels). P90X is a bit more extreme if you have an hr or so a day... and I have just gotten Insanity (but have not yet tried it)
  • I put it as "circuit training, general" in mfp - comes up at about 150 cals for 20 min.
  • Yeah I'd agree. When I used to run 20k, I'd eat carbs an hr before my run and then a gatorade mid run. I couldn't carry stuff so I just played around with strategically placing things on my run route! :) But it definitely sounds like a lack of hydration/fuel
  • P90X Kenpo is my fave too!
  • Although I log daily on MFP, I consider my weekly calorie intake, some days are below, some are above - as long as overall the week is your "ideal" level and you drink lots of water, and exercise - I figure I'm okay.
  • Personally I prefer almond butter - also if you look at the ingredients for almond butter, you often can find ones that are just almonds. I've never seen peanut butter without all the added stuff. And I've read a lot about how almond butter is better, and personally I prefer it (unsalted). - M
  • As long as they aren't skinnier than me! Even at 100 lbs I've always been "hip"-py so will always have curves. Dated the super cut, very low body fat % guys and it just made me feel like I had massive hips :) So athletic/average/even chubby (I think it's cute) is all fine, as long as they aren't scrawny or too perfectly in…
  • I'm in too! My goal is 15-20 lbs by the time I go home for xmas (Dec 14).
  • If I'm running - oatmeal or fruit and fibre cereal with fresh berries If it's just a "normal" day - eggs (poached, boiled or sauttee'd with veg), and yoghurt with a bit of fruit. Depends on what you're doing at the gym, but protein + carbs are important!
  • UK here too, not vegetarian (however, I don't eat beef), 28 years old. I actually moved from North America, and know the frustration of not being able to get certain foods at UK supermarkets when looking for recipe ideas. Am a runner, circuit train and trying to get back to yoga too.
  • I was actually reading an article the other day about how PCOS can lead to eating disorders, because of the way the body reacts to sugars, and then creates intense carb cravings (especially if you hold back on them) causing binging (and then purging for some). I have to admit, constantly checking the scale, and how I eat…
  • You can train with that many months till the marathon - you can still run for a charity if you choose!
  • I meant weight wise.. the biggest symptom I have is no ovulation, which I'm back on the pill now to regulate. I've cut out all the simple carbs (bread/pasta/rice/sugar etc) & alcohol, exercising daily, and whatnot, but after 2 wks have lost 2 lbs. I understand the process will be slower (and more frustrating) than before…
  • Thanks ladies - how long did it take until you started noticing a difference?
  • Thank you for this thread! I was casually using myfitnesspal until the other day when I realised I have to commit. I hate hate hate that understanding food and how my body will react to it perplexes me so much and regular workout/caloric advice just doesn't work. I hate that none of my clothes fit anymore (yet I refuse to…
  • As another poster told me that it'd be worth finding other PCOSers on the site, I figured a search would be the best thing. My mini story - I was generally thin up until 3 yrs ago and started putting on weight, at first it wasn't a big deal - until last year I seemed to have put on weight and started working out 3x/wk,…
  • Thanks for sharing Sammy, I just posted today about my confusion with PCOS.
  • Yep! PCOS - most people I speak to haven't a clue what I'm talking about - so I just started saying insulin resistant and it seems to make more sense. Still totally confused, though!
