In California all restaurants must provide calorie count, by law. If you dine in a major chain, their dish is probably already in the MFP database. As the host about this information - nothing to be ashamed of. :)

I do it every day, in the morning (Dr. Oz recommendation). I do it for educational reasons, trying to understand the correlation between what I eat, and how it translates into weight. I try to avoid breads and other starches in my diet all together. Granted, I have not tried to study what is available and safe. My carbs and fibers come from anything but...potatoes, rice and bread. This makes me eat salads, and fruits. I also have a daily dose of fiber supplements.

Get a stake or salmon or whatever meat you like... just skip the potatoes, rice and bread. Heck... celebrate and get a cheesecake or tiramisu (share it if you must).
