  • I've never made my own but I've bought them from a deli that makes them. I've boiled them and I've baked them, both successfully. I've found that they will get crispy if you freeze them then bake them.
  • There are a ton of great suggestions. Something I keep in mind is that I don't eat out very often. I make the best decisions I can, keeping in mind that most days are good days and one not-so-bad meal isn't going to hurt my weight loss. I compensate earlier in the day and eat less knowing that my dinner is going to be…
  • Tip for spinach. Since it wilts so fast, you can blend it up with water and put it into ice cubes, then use those cubes to make your smoothies. I love smoothies of any kind. My fav: 1/2 Frozen banana 1 Tbl Natural PB 1 scoop Protein Powder 1 cup Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk 1/4 cup Mom's Best Quick Oats Blend and add…
  • Congrats!!! I noticed you posted in the general forum first. Be very careful with the advice/suggestions you get there. This is a much safer forum for pregnancy advice. I found that upping my protein really helped my hunger. However, I still wanted to snack ALL THE TIME. I swear I would have hunger pangs 30 mins after I…
  • Print this out and paste in everywhere in your house... then throw out your scale ;) These photos do not lie.
  • Smoothies!! I throw veggies (mostly spinach and kales) into my fruit smoothies all the time and I can't even tell. BTW- for someone who doesn't like many veggies, you have a pretty good list going :) Don't be so hard on yourself.
  • Congrats and good job. What you're doing is not easy. My advice is to take it one day at a time and don't give up. Good luck on your journey.
  • Well???? How did you do it?
  • My suggestion too. Have you re-evaluated your nutritional needs since your weight loss? (Congrats by the way!!) Do some research on your macros. Changing them up might help you. (Protein is the first thing that comes to mind.)
  • I like this one and it's safe. (raw, organic and doesn't taste too bad :)) http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products-for-Life/Foundational-Nutrition/RAW-Protein.aspx
  • Cream cheese plus strawberries (MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM) Toasted with butter and honey Get a crazy flavored bagel and just butter or cream cheese. Good luck with your journey!!
  • \ genius... my smoothie and protein shakes will never be the same.
  • Your about to get flooded with advice. This would be my very first suggestion. I would recommend not changing a single habit except logging your food and water for a week. Don't even pay attention to how many calories you need/have. Learn how the site works and create the habit of documenting everything. (You bite it, you…
  • Don't like peanut butter??? Ok... I won't judge. Anyway, I'm in love with Pinterest. I just searched "bake protein powder" and found all kinds of stuff including brownies, muffins, pancakes and cookies. Good luck!
  • Basically as everyone is saying, it's all about macros and what you're trying to accomplish. Plug the nutritional facts into your food diary and determine if it addresses what you want. I do the raw organic thing.... They have both meal replacement and protein. I use protein because I struggle to reach my daily goals…
  • I agree. I used to binge after school or work too... I found that , lots of protein and fiber earlier in day makes me less hungry at night.
  • ^This is a big part of it... especially reading through you very emotional post. It's an emotional journey. Build a network of people that can help/motivate/influence you. Feel free to add me... even though I'm in a diff place right now (9 months pregnant) I'd love to be your cheerleader and butt kicker (when necessary)
  • The very best recommendation I received and I'm passing along is to search YouTube for HRM reviews and how to use them. Read about all the cool stuff they can do, then assess whether you'll actually use those features.
  • Best advice I can give you is to make sure you surround yourself with your support network. Friends, family, coworkers, FB friends, MFP friends... find those you can trust to motivate you and encourage. Usually it's those with healthy lifestyles. I'm not just talking about cheerleaders, but real people who you can benefit…
  • Welcome to MFP... it's an amazing, crazy, irrational, rational place!! (Very similar to the weight-loss journey) I just read this yesterday: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/857137-for-the-newbies-here-is-what-losing-80-pounds-is-like
  • This happened a lot in my 2nd tri. I kept a notepad next to my bed to write down all the crazy things I wanted to remember. (Mostly "to do" lists.) It really helped me to release those items. Although some nights I was just wide awake for no reason. I would get up and get stuff done or log into work. It eventually went…
  • My husband and I were together 6+ yrs before TTC. There were a lot of factors and life events going on. I kept telling myself there will never be a "perfect" time but there is of course many things that do need to be aligned for it to be a good time. (For us it was careers, money, cross-country move, and my husband being a…
  • I have a good friend that I go to lunch with fairly often who is an insulin-dependent diabetic. I've watched her learn the hard way that the menus can be grossly incorrect. (She uses the carb listing to moderate her insulin injection after the meal.) She can tell how far off it is by her sugar level response after the…
  • Compression socks? I keep hearing about them... do they really help? I only have 4 weeks left and I heard that's the swelling gets worse at "the end". (Not sure if I'm considered there yet.)
  • Genius!!!!!!!!!!
  • You'll love it... there are a million recipes. Here's some tips that have helped with my MB. If you have crushed ice in your fridge door, use that instead of full ice cubes. The results are better. Also, brown frozen bananas are awesome and make an amazingly smooth texture. I really like using powders to get a creamy…
  • Same here... around 32-33 weeks I found it harder to eat very much at a time. I pretty much snack all day long... guess you could consider it 6-8 small meals. I stopped tracking because I wasn't even close to my maintenance amount.... Just listening to my body.
  • I should have also mentioned comfortable shoes! Even at home I started wearing "indoor" sneakers. Apparently I need more support these days.
  • Water, exercise, and putting my feet up.... honestly, if anyone of these are down I start puffing up. Feet up is the hardest part of me... but if I can sneak in 2 hours a day, it makes a world of difference.
  • You are right on the money. Also, try not to focus to much on the scale (I know, I know... easier said than done) Your weight will fluctuate so much due to hormones, growth spurts, etc. Weight loss/gain is never linear and it's every more crazy when you're pregnant. Trending over several weeks is way more important that a…
